What a lovely lady Miss Phyllis was. I miss her and Mr. Bucky so, so much. She explained everything so well as she cooked to make sure we understood what she was doing and why.
Holy cow that looks amazing, such simple ingredients. I have everything except red potatoes...didnt know that about them. Now I can make casseroles to freeze!!! I wished I knew you, Phyllis. You'd be Proud of Steve aka "the Colonel" he's doing your Channel Proud 🥰
I made this recipe last night but substituted bbq kielbasa which I had left over from another meal this week. It was delicious. I used your suggestion and made one recipe but put it in 2 dishes so I was able to freeze one of them. Served with french green beans. Feel like I've had dinner with you as this is the second on your recipes I've made this week. Thanks so much for the recipe. The Mr. was quite impressed! Blessings! :-) The Mrs.
Hi Ms. Phyllis. Just enjoying my Sunday afternoon, checking out another one of your fantastic recipes. Your food makes me hungry. But, your videos do encourage me to keep watching and learning. Much appreciate it.
Hi making this dish now but had to make some substitutions. No ham so I used some bacon. Used only one cup of cheese.(.barely scraped enough pepper jack and cheddar🤣) and sliced up 2 carrotts. The white sauce came out 💯perfect yay! Thank you so much for this recipe Phyllis❤ Will make it to the letter next time😘
I cooked a ham on Wednesday and tomorrow I want to make something else with the leftovers.....I was excited to find this recipe. I cook for 5 adults and 2 children almost every day. That is only during the summer....when school starts my daughter will not be here because she has to rush home to pick up the kids from aftercare at school. But since I cook for these folks I use a lot more of the ham and there is not a lot left. I did save the bone with some of the meat attached for a pot of beans, but I have a good size portion that I want to make a meal out of but there is not enough to give everyone a big slice so I was excited to find this casserole. I am in the process of watching all your videos, love love love your way of cooking....it's my way too!!! :) Thanks for sharing all your knowledge with us.
Miss Phyllis, your Grandfather's clock sounds wonderful and your ham , potatoe , cabbage & cheese casserole looks absolutely delicious ! I Love a chime clock ! ! 😊😍🤗❤💕💘💗💞
Great recipe Phyllis! I made your tuna casserole not too long ago and it was delish. Oh i just made your tetrazinni a few weeks ago too. Just in case some viewers may not know youre making is bechamel because you added the nutmeg. Authentic bechamel always has nutmeg. Without it its just a cream sauce.
I have just discovered you and, boy, do I enjoy your comforting recipes and presentation! Your food so reminds me of home when I was a girl. I will continue to check your channel and make some of the dishes. Thanks so much!
Love to watch your videos! I made this with leftover baked ham and it was delicious!! I finally learned how to make a white sauce! This came out great! Definitely making this again!!
I can't wait to make this. I have all the ingredients so I think this will be on the menu this week. I get a kick out of your bowl and pan scrapping skills. My pet peeve with some others is that they leave half of the ingredients in the pan!! My mother-in-law taught me to never leave stuff in the pan or bowl.. She said "you paid for it, so use it!"
I hate how these cooking shows waste so much food. They don't scrap the bowls. they don't scrape the beaters . When roasting veggies they put them on a tray and waste so much oil drizzling over them, instead of putting the veggies in a bowl and adding a small amount of oil, tossing to coat and then putting on a tray to roast. I guess when you are a rich TV show money and waste of food is nothing .
I'm going to give this a try, and like you, I've been meaning to buy me a Mandolin for slicing veggies forever and I never get around to it. =) I absolutely hate slicing potatoes with a knife. I grew up hearing my aunts, my granny, and my mom saying waste not want not. So I rinse out my cans and jars of stuff with a little water and dump it in the pot. If I'm getting it out of a bowl I use a spatula like you did and I get every last bit of it. I'm like you, that raspberry vinaigrette dressing is the best dressing I have ever eaten, I'm addicted to it, I won't buy anything else. Thank you for the info about the red potatoes freezing so well, I did not know that, I always use Yukon Gold because I don't have to peel them. But I've been told that red potatoes have a very thin skin as well and also don't have to be peeled. =)
I do just what you do, I always shred my Cheese, if you look in a bag of cheddar cheese shredded you can see that stuff they put on the shreds of cheese, I showed my Older Sister in her pack of cheese and she said OH You are Right Glenda there is a substance on the cheese, I said I knew this a long time ago, Our Grandparents Owned 2 Greek Rest and they never used bagged cheese, So she Remembered that LOL. Ma'am I will be trying this :) It does look wonderful!! :) God Bless You Both!! OX OX
Glenda David Shredded cheese contains cellulose, ( finely milled wood pulp) yes thats correct. Parmesan cheese in a container may contain at least 10% also. Buy your cheese in blocks and grate it.
This is like a fancy baked version of Bubble and Squeak. It looks so delicious!!! Phyllis I finally bought one of those choppers from QVC and it came with a mandolin slicer. I am going to make this recipe soon. Do you think adding green peas would be okay? Patrick………..love your videos!!!
Hi Patrick, I think adding green peas would be a great addition. In fact next time I make it I'll use your idea and add green peas. Thanks Patrick, you are one smart guy, are you really a chef and didn't tell me?
Green Peas added to this recipe is like getting on steroids!!! We're going to crank this baby up a notch or two.. I just hope a Praying Mantis doesn't fly into the house, because I will put it in the smoothie too. Love your show………Patrick!!!!
Mandolins are extremely dangerous I have one and even with the guard, I don't feel comfortable using it. I saw where a professional chef almost lost a finger by using one, so I thought if she is trained to use that and still slices her finger (requiring numerous stitches), the I'd probably slice my leg off or something weird.
God I miss this woman. Please keep her channel up!
I'll keep it up as long as even 1 person wants to watch the videos! We keep adding new subscribers!
Thank you, Colonel. We truly love her!
New stovetop! Love it 🥰 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Loved the way this amazing lady cooked. Miss her a lot RIP 🙏💞

Yum sounds like something my husband and I will love. Red potatoes are what my mother used and so do I.
That looks like a delicious meal. You are a treasure! So much knowledge.

Red potato s are my favorite
I'm thawing the ham, right now. This looks so good!

We don’t even have orange coloured cheddar cheese here, our cheddar is pale yellow, I wish I could try orange cheddar, looks tasty 😋🙏🏽💕😇
Teamwork:
Mr Bucky: Can you do something with this bag of ham?
Phyllis: Yes, I can.
😅😅😅😅😅

Ham casserole! :) haven't had that for a while! Thank you Mrs. Phyllis!

Your mother-in-law gave you good advice, I agree with what she said.
Yes Susan, love all the banging & scrapping Ms. Phyllis does :) :)
That clock is a nice sound brings back memories of the grandfather clock we had growing up

Good idea about boiling the ham and then rinsing. That might get rid of some odd the salt as well.
I like when Mr. Bucky gives you an ingredient challenge. It reminds me of that TV show called Chopped. I love to see your creative solutions.
If you don't have cabbage, broccoli or broccoli cauliflower mix, or thinly sliced carrots , mushrooms would be good.
Can't wait to try this with our leftover Easter ham!

You are just too funny!
i think everything is better the 2nd and 3rd time..
Guess what we are having for supper, I have all the ingredients and this sounds perfect.
Any idea for the leftovers? I cut this in half and made it for the two of us for Easter and had leftovers last night, but still have more.
After freezing, can this only be reheated in microwave or can it go in the oven? Great video as always!
Screamin' Lisa It can certainly go in the oven. I use the microwave because it has defrost mode.

Mary Rogers I
What does nutmeg taste like in this? I only used it in desserts, sounds really good
Mrs Phyllis You know that's a Greek Béchamel Sauce :)
Doesn’t hurt a thing...xo

I want to live at your house, you make the best meals.
That's Mr. Bucky s reason for being a wonderful husband & loving Ms. Phyllis
ya but you wash all the flavor away.
