ngl im surprised you don't have more views because you're the only golf coach on RUclips that makes it simple and I feel like if you practice what you preach then it really does work because my swing was all arms and no rotation but now i feel like i have more power and i don't have to kill the ball and my body doesn't hurt as much after, I appreciate all of the videos you put out, I think ive watched almost every one and they're all helpful and explain clearly what to do.

Hats off to you young man! YOU are a student of the game, and your approach to teaching is transparent, open, and honest. For the love of the game you do what you do. I never feel like I’m being sold something. Keep it up!

To be fair there's plenty of people who can describe in detail how the golf swing works ,yet to do it with a clear understandable ease like you do there is only a handful. Amazing and very well done!!

This is video is AWESOME! I happen to be a fairly good ball striker and when practicing at the range I frequently get asked for swing advice. I always tell them that I can give them a few tips but to really understand the golf swing you need to understand the relationships between path and face angle and how those change and relate to a weak or strong grip and a steeper or falter swing plane .(sounds complicated but once the concepts are understood people can build a swing that best works for THEM.) They inevitably ask if there is a RUclips video I could recommend and I usually say that you need to be careful with just watching random golf instruction videos because it's hard for a beginner to know what type of swing the instructor is giving tips about. That said, I now have a video to recommend and start them on the right path. Great job man!

Brother man what a-day at the range after implementing this video. I've been at it for 15 years I'm probably closest to being on plane than ever I've heard many times people talk about point the butt end of the club to the target line on the way back but for some reason it's sunk in on this video and it made it so easy to drop it on plane or underneath the plane and just kind of sling it. My irons were absolutely beautiful. I did struggle with the long driver a bit trying to implement this

Well done. Its nice to know that some teachers (like you) understand that impact is the only destination in the golf swing. How we get there varies from player to player, in part because of skill, in part bio-metric differences.

So glad to hear that I can elevate the left arm and that the right arm plays a support role (result: I am making a more confident tension free shoulder turn now), after loading the right glute,, I immediately let my left lat control the unweighted left arm at the top during my weight-shift (which I knew), but what I got from this video is that the club drops and shallows because my feel from the top is I am powering the right side by Un-weighting the bent right arm, by moving it solely by an externally rotating shoulder. That was the elusive feel that I can now experience. Its a nice gravity drop on the right side of things. Thanks!

You are the most honest golf instructor. I agree with you that we should find our natural swing not what other instructors tell us to do. The built and physical ability will always determine the most suitable swing type of a golfer and that includes proper wrist cock, takeaway, downswing and finish. We are all different both physically and mentally so we should practice what is natural and comfortable for the body. Tnx.

I can now see how a single tip in isolation could be the worst advice a given golfer can receive. Understanding how something like the grip affects the positions in the rest of the swing is very valuable. It’s nice to know I have options and can work with movements that are comfortable for me. A bit reminiscent of The Golfing Machine, but in practical, easy to understand terms.

I struggle with so many things mentioned and described in this video. Wrist angles are squirly and I’m laid off at the top, to think my grip my be a direct cause of my position at the top is something I never thought of, in fact, I kept strengthening my grip in a attempt to get more vertical at the top. Will work on this, thanks

Very interested in this series. I'm just coming back to golf after a 15 year hiatus and I'm having some difficulty finding my swing - something consistent and repeatable. My bio-mechanics are nothing like they were 15 years ago. Bad back and a short right leg are two issues that make consistency harder than it used to be. Early extension is now a recurring problem as well.

Really interesting and informative video again Russel. Can I ask, if you have a golfer whether they be new or experienced how would you get them to determine which grip they should have strong, weak or neutral and also how high they should swing the left arm and therefore the club. Is it as simple as 'here's the 3 grips, which one feels best for you?'
    Many thanks
    James

    • @russellheritagegolf

Another great video. Question: I have since around 2000 used a Moe Norman type Natural (single plane) golf swing. I have recently looked at the Stack and Tilt swing with a view to incorporating some of that into my swing (primarily the weight more on the front foot). I wish to retain the single plane as it has worked well for me in terms of consistency. Are those two approaches at all compatible?

    • @russellheritagegolf
      @russellheritagegolf  6 лет назад

Moe Norman move is fine, don’t agree with stack and tilt and will be doing a similar video in hip moves soon but the trick is that your weight needs to be in your right heel

People always mistook Nicklaus for having a chicken-wing in his backswing, but it just appeared that because he swung his left arm very high, as you mentioned. I've tried to explain this to many people, but they don't seem to get it.

You do some really great videos, but I must say, this one will completely confuse most golfers. Don’t get too technical and confuse us anymore than we all ready are. How about a lesson on grip pressure all the way through the swing! Keep it simple. I own a golf course and grip pressure for the older golfer, which is about 75% of all the golfers playing nowadays, is the one thing NO ONE teaches. It will free up the swing for the average and older golfer. Keep up with the great work and hope you will video a grip pressure video some time.

I feel the lack of understanding of these types of 'related actions' in the golf swing are exactly why the avg score in golf has not gone down. In the past, instruction was so focused on 'this position' or 'that position' and not enough of what is being presented here. These positions are related.
