So this is crazy, but went out for the first rip Thanksgiving day and the thing just kept falling on its face. I called it quits and headed home. Finally figured out that a plastic thread protector from a spark plug got dropped in the air box, sucked through the carb, and was bouncing around in the reeds. If I let off the throttle it would fall back out and it would rip for a 1/4 mile, then it would get sucked up against the reeds again and fall on its face. So frustrating, but an easy fix in the end.
Great job explaining to the uniformed how the reed valves work and why regular maintenance and inspections are important. I especially go over everything preseason so I HOPEFULLY don't have issues come up during the short riding season. Scope is perfect tool for that job!!
Great video, it’s obvious you have lots of experience and your tutorials are appreciated. Looking forward to a skid video. Would be also interested in a setup video, i.e. ski alignment, shock settings, clutching etc.
Should’ve posted this two weeks ago! My sled just went to the shop for this reason, didn’t think of checking them myself, assuming my bogging was clutch related. Could’ve saved a couple bucks
I think it’s my TPS on my 2015 m8000 has a stuttering problem and makes it infinitely harder to ride has power but touchy down low rpm’s has new ecm reeds other thoughts were power valves
Good video man, would bad/faulty reeds cause a WOT stumble/bog? I say faulty because my sled has had an intermittent WOT bog/falls on itself sporadically since new
Good thing you have a video on evrything. One sled I’m looking to buy had topend redone I asked what at 3000km he said reeds failed made piston go bad it has all be done at a dealer I wonder can reed fail wreck a piston ? I guess so but could it damage the Zylinder too ? Prob can’t hurt the crank ...
Though unlikely, if I big enough reed flap breaks off, yeah it COULD happen. The most wild thing I've seen is a piece of belt fragments blow and somehow end up in the intake and get sent through the engine, and blow the rod through the bottom of the block! Wild.
Would this cause the snowmobile to loose rpms when in deep snow? Mine revvs high if I spin the track on the trail or roads but under load in deep snow my sled will loose rpms and get stuck, my snowmobile also misfires and the engine light comes on because it’s not back shifting gears properly I believe
I bought a 2021 summit sport and it recently starting bogging, bogs in deep snow and once in a while throttle gets stuck and idk what is wrong with it, i don’t know much about skidoos
so... any idea why my sled which is a 2007 500ss ran perfect. no problems all last year.. no problems for the first hour i was out the other day.than all of a sudden i came to a stop and it did not want to idle proper.. kept wanting to die .i brought it home right away... pulled plugs tossed them and put new ones in... seemed fine.went for another ride prob 45 min to an hour than all of a sudden rpm drop. motor had a bit of a shake to it and it started blowing smoke... i went through 1/2 my oil in that time.. it was topped up when i left home only 1/2 when i got it back... i did ride it home but really slow.. and left a smoke trail the whole way :/
Morning Matt, 2008 Dragon 700, low mile, under 1200, has had a Boondocker turbo on her since new, was running just fine, then on the mountain, started bogging, and will shut itself off, had to get towed off the mountain. My Buddy is Fed up, want's to just unload it. On a Polaris 700 from 08, 1. Reeds, 2. tps 3. crank seals, In any event repairable i your opinion? thanks!
Probably the last thing you want to hear is that, The Dragoon is generally considered amoung the community as one of the worst sleds ever made. Unfortunately, I have never heard anyone say a good thing about a dragon. I've never owned one but the community seems to say one thing: junk. Good luck with it!
@@syxxes totally fine, AND yes to 800 dragons, but I'd the 700 is just as bad then he is stuck with it! Thanks for your honest opinion! It confirms everything!
So where is the fail part off of reed pedal??? Are you just going to leave all that material in the motor, ring grooves, crankshaft bearings, crank seals ect.
I love watching your videos, ik you have 2016 M8 which is exactly what I have and your 4 yeat review is why I bought it. I am having issues with ECU code 16 and bogs down alot, is this the fix? I don't have the space or tools to do this myself just yet as I am 16 but wanna make sure Ik what it is before I take it into the shop so I know what needs to be done and don't end up getting charged for something it didn't need. I do alot of the work myself and cleaned power valves recently but it didn't do too much. Thanks!
My sled seems to load up. Carbs have been cleaned. After idling or slowing down in the ditch it doesn’t have good power until u get going for a little bit. Also seems worse when the sleds on its side when carving almost no power. Any ideas?
I posted a video or my mach1 670 I'm havein a problem with a guy told me its the secondary just want your opinion with out the belt on it revs right up thank you in advance keep up the good work
Would that cause low speed bogging on a crossfire 800 ho? Usually stops bogging after I pump the throttle a bit and am running over 5k rpm, and then seems to run fine with lots of power. Always just a start moving bog.
@@adamcarlsson9931 Ended up doing a compression test and found one piston was only running 50 percent. Tore it apart and it had been melted and badly scarred. Don't know why yet, but obviously some major mechanical failure. Still can't rule out bad crank seals. Maybe something in the crankcase broke and went up into the piston though. I did however observe extreme heated spark plugs.....very white on the ends.
Does that motor have the suzuki 800 ho? because I bought mine last year (used with 3100 mi) and it ran good for about 200 miles then would constantly bog and not go over 5 grand

I don't have a sled but I have a 2 stroke waverunner. I rebuilt the carbs and did notice a few reed pedals lifted up so I flipped them over. My question is will a bad reed make the top end feel flat. It does have some bog if Idle for a bit and punch it but it feels like there is no power after 3/4 throttle.
Bad reeds will cause that issue for sure. Depending on how bad they are it might not idle well, or it feels like its governed past a certain point on the throttle
@@syxxes it did both. I tuned it so the bog was not as bad but it felt just like u said governed. It was a brand new top end and both carbs were rebuilt. I just couldn't get it to tune right last year so I stoppedridingit. I'm going to pull the reeds out when I get home amd check them out. Thanks for your time amd quick reply
