- This is an AWESOME, live duet performance of the song ~ Spinnin' Of The World featuring Lindsey (my fave) and the late John Stewart!! This clip is from a 1982 Kingston Trio & Friends Reunion special. (This was taped in Valencia, CA in 1981.)
If you like this performance, check out my other posting (from this same reunion special). Here is a direct link to it ~ • Lindsey Buckingham/The...
Lindsey and John remained friends for many years. In fact, Lindsey even performed a very moving song at his funeral last year.

Enjoy!! ~Jackie (:
I was married to John’s Daughter Amy. Together we had an amazing son Tyler, who John absolutely adored. I treasure the time I got to know John and all of his family, he truly was an amazing man.
OMG, I was there. So young. Now John is dead, and so is my husband, the man who produced this event. Hard to watch but impossible to resist. Tommy Smothers now lives down the road from me in Sonoma. Ain't life peculiar?
Tommy Smothers passed away in December 2023.
Lindsey’s best vocal ever imo. This music style suits him so well.
Perfection!!
The harmonies are excellent
Never made the connection between Lindsay and John. Two greats. Thanks.
Lindsey and Stevie back John on his whole "Bombs Away Dream Babies" album. Some amazing tracks, here on RUclips!!
Well there is not much to say about this song except....DAMN. This is what music is all about. Lindsey learns from John's records and becomes a star. Then he goes back and pays back John by producing John's biggest hit. I am a huge John fan as well as Fleetwood Mac. With Lindsey and Stevie singing on Gold it sounded like a Fleetwood Mac song. It reminds me of Jerry Garcia and his work with David Grisman. Thanks Lindsey. RIP Picker.
I read Lindsey paid 20k from his pocket so John S could finish the album. I think it was the bass player who said this.
I love Lindseys voice on this song it was like it was made for it
❤️👍🏻
Keep it Flyin' in Heaven John Stewart! I'll never forget your amazing talent and music! I'm 32 now but I was first introduced to his music when i was 7. I was hooked and have never forgetton the sensation of such a legend of folk music! Lindsey Buckingham is also a true legend in folk as well and deserves every amount of praise imaginable!
Thanks Lindsey for turning on to the Kingston Trio!
So cool. First time seeing this. Lindsey singing folk/country. Unusual.
When a great older musician teams up with a young great musician creative sparks fly up to the music gods, and make them smile. Thanks very much for sharing.
Wow! Harmony is great. Thank you!
2023. Unf king unbelievable harmonies!
John Stewart mentions buying "the white Fleetwood Mac album", that is the self-titled album with the white cover that featured the debut of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks as members.
"He's playing banjo lines, I know it." Interesting because Buckingham's style of finger-picking is reminiscent of the sound of a banjo. I dare to say he could pick up and play a banjo with ease.
It's so cool that John Stewart appreciated Lindsey's guitar work, that he was trying to master his technique. And that the two got to meet, and Lindsey got to work with the famous folk group, the Kingston Trio. Some of Fleetwood Mac's songs border on folk rock, Lindsey may have listened to folk and folk rock growing up. 'Never Going Back Again' from the Rumours album is classic folk rock.
They both sound awesome :) R.I.P John Stewart.
Lindsey is very gifted, he taught himself, that is how gifted he is. Cherish Lindsey for all the joy in my heart listening to him 🎶🎵 ❤️
John Stewart said that he wrote “Coming Out of Nowhere” after hearing Lindsey’s song “That’s Enough for Me” on Fleetwood Mac’s TUSK. Stewart kind of fell in love with this energetic, kick-in-the-pants rockabilly track that confounded Mac’s mainstream audience. He said it was a major breakthrough for pop.
i love this!!! lindsey looks real young here!
I was surprised when Linsey came out on stage, he looked so small. But I guess next to Stevie everybody looks big.
I'm a John Stewart fan from WAY back in the Trio days. (I'm 58.) Saw him do the Phoenix Concerts live. Such a shame he's gone. But no matter how many times I watch this particular performance (I have the DVD), I get goose bumps. What an incredible duet.
I love Lindsey on this!
In the early 8O's it was hard in France to see such a concert.I got a recording from TV in NTSC.I asked a company to transcode it but it was very very expensive;.. So an employee did me a favor and I understand he filmed the screen with a camcorder without telling his boss so I first saw the document almost witout any colours.LMuch later of course I bought the DVD in full colours.Great memories Thanks for posting.
another lindsey gem
Thanks a bunch!! I really love this one too!! Glad that you can truly appreciate it like me. (:
I love this! Love John Stewart!
I have this whole concert on a dvd- it is fantastic
Lindsey cute as ever.......love him and always will.
This song was originally on the Kingston Trio album CHILDREN OF THE MORNING. For all you John Stewart fans, it's essentially a Stewart album (he wrote 10 of the 12 songs on it) with Bob Shane and Nick Reynolds backing him up.
This is gold.
There’s people out there turning music into gold.
Oh Lindsey... this makes my heart so happy.
I love this one too!! Thanks a bunch for your comment!! (:
Great to see you both. Great music
Thank you.
Lindsey had to have swallowed his gum!! Go get em Lindsey!!!!
Thanks!! Glad that you enjoyed this one!! (:
Wow, this is cool man ✌️ 00:55
First saw this years ago, never forgot it. Great to see it again. Only recently realized Lindsey is wearing the striped shirt in tribute to the Trio.
ooooohhh, I thought it was gonna be JON Stewart !!
I was like -man I didn’t know he was that old!!! 😁😁😁
I saw this when it originally aired on PBS. Tommy Smothers was hilarious. Would love to see this in its entirety.
Thanks for the info.!! I would be TOTALLY starstruck if I met Lindsey!! I have met a few famous people (Barbara Eden, Paula Abdul, etc...) in the past too while working at a record store in Los Angeles many years ago. However, it was no big deal for me though. The only person on this planet that would make my heart skip a beat, etc... is Lindsey. (:
@foppa123 Bombs Away Dream Babies is an amazing album. It's one of those albums that I keep going back to over and over along with ELO's Out of The Blue, Gorillaz's Demon Days, Black Flag's Damaged and The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds. Just a well made album.
You're welcome. Thanks for your great comment!! You are VERY lucky to have met Lindsey!! I'm jelaous. By the way, I heard he was quiet too, but very nice and down to earth. (:
Thanks for posting this. A great tune, featured on "Bombs away..." Wish that an B-Nicks would be re-released as remastered versions.
These guys were great together.
thanks for posting this it is great.
I remember watching this when it originally aired on WQED. Great stuff. Thanks for posting this.
Glad that you love this!! Thanks for commenting!! (:
Two great talent's!!!!
I love this song
OMG Lindsey is so young here...so much energy. He tired out John.
I'm not surprised, looks like LB has done a line or two before coming on stage.... I speak as a fan.
You're VERY welcome. Thank you for your comment!! (:
They did a great job on this song. Would not hear it any other way (other than the Trio singing it)
CONGRATS!! (:
I love Lindsey!!!!!

Sorry to hear that you lost that Mick photo. Hope it turns up for you. (:
Lindsey borrowed this riff on the Macs' song World Turning.
Jó zene
Intense....
How do these wizards whisper in harmony? Is it me...or?...
lindsey buckingha----m!!!!
By the way, how did you ever manage to meet him? I've been trying for many years. (:
How did a trio become a sextet?
Still hard for me to accept that John is gone now.....
Oh Lindsey... this makes my heart happy.
