Aaliyah...I always thought she was so pretty. And what intrigued me the most was how talented she was at such an early age. Her passing was a tragedy none of us saw coming and devastated us when it happened. The impact she made in such a short time was that of legend. RIP sweet Aaliyah. Thanks for sharing and nicely done.
I just love how sensitive and respectful you both always are. You have big hearts and always approach things with class. Thank you for another great video!

Something heartbreaking I learned last year and had no idea about. Aaliyah didn't want to get on that plane. She wanted to wait until the next day to take a commercial flight. She was sick with a headache so someone gave her a pill that put her to sleep. A bodyguard lifted her and carried her onto that plane. Basically, she was "killed" by people who didn't want her to wait on a better flight when she made it clear she did not want to get on that plane.
Such a beautifully done video Michael and Jessica, always so respectful. I didn't know too much about Aaliyah, but she left this world way too soon. RIP💔🙏
She’s a talented singer and actor! Sad she is gone too soon, rest in peace Aaliyah. Thank you Michael and Jessica for sharing Aaliyah story. Have a safe trip and Happy Halloween.💐🌹❤️
I also love the movie Queen of the Damned. People spend so much time dumping on it because it's so different from the book, they don't take the time to appreciate that if they look past all that, it really is a great movie. I also adored Aaliyah. She was three years younger than I am. I was devastated when I heard of her passing. I watched MTV all that day just watching the coverage in disbelief. When they announced it, my first word was "NOOOO!!!" I held my then two month old baby close to me for comfort. I watched coverage of her service on MTV as well. It was so devastating. I loved a lot of her music. She was truly a treasure and so very talented.
Thank you for making this film. Her memory has faded recently but its wonderful to see you shine light onto a TRUE talent. She was a triple threat which is nearly impossible to find in today's "entertainment". In her short time on this Earth she left a huge impression. Thank you ❤️❤❤
I still cry for her. Such a angel on earth. Lost way too soon. I love you Aaliyah!! Prayers for her mother and brother!! Rest in peace to Aaliyah and her dad
I'm Aaliyah's number 1 fan and to this day I cry about her death. I loved everything about her from the start and was crushed when she passed. When I think of her I get a lump in my throat and start to cry. She did not deserve to leave this earth like that. Life is so unfair 😢
I remember seeing the cover of Aaliyah's first album, and she's wearing a hat and sunglasses, concealing her good looks. I heard that she was much younger than she looked, which is why her first single was "Age Ain't Nothing But A Number". As her career progressed, she seemed to be getting more comfortable shedding the mysterious persona and showed her face. An interview confirmed this. Her music wasn't my cup of tea, but her presentation seemed to make stick out from the R&B crowd of young female singers. She seemed much more vulnerable, yet more mature than say, Brandy. It was quite a shock when she died so suddenly, and it seems her career was really headed for new heights. She was starting to be in movies. It would probably have been a matter of time until she had a starring role. We can only wonder what would've been.
Sadly her first album was called that because it was produced by R Kelly who was abusing her at the time. She was just 15 😢 Eventually she escaped his clutches and went on to start forging her own career. Such an amazing artist for someone so young 🙏
That industry destroys the people in it. Don't know who escaped unscathed, maybe beyonce because her parents were around but apparently jz who is a lot older might have you know. Anyway, aliyah's parents didn't protect her. Look beyond the music and movies and there is a cesspit of evil
@@hanselmansell7555 Aaliyah said it was her choice to call her album that because she just wanted people to love her for her music and not worry about her being really young during her debut but R kelly truly is a disgusting human being.
My grandparents are buried at the same mausoleum at Ferncliff ! I noticed that they moved Aaliyah’s grave to an upper draw , she was originally on the ground level !
This is the first time ive cried from one of your videos. Aaliyah was and will always be ONE IN A MILLION. So much talent, heart and beauty in a 22yo. That death hit me hard. I was a freshman in college at the time.

They will be soo happy ! Blessings to the both of you 🙏🏽
I liked her single “Try Again” and I loved Queen of the Damned but I first became aware of Aaliyah because Madonna sampled her song “Back and Forth” in a song called “Inside of Me” on her album, Bedtime Stories. I was obsessed with the Bedtime Stories album.
She decorated her condo with a lot of Egyptian artwork and decorations, it would have been nice to see pictures before it was sold and remodeled, the family left it exactly how she left it for over 10 years before selling it. it was remodeled twice since it was sold.
My older sisters played the One in a Million Album so often that it takes me back to my childhood. I bought the vinyl as soon as it was available and it’s the best thing I bought in 2020.
I only knew her from "Queen of the Damned" and she was totally amazing....so sad her life was cut so short at the beginning and continuing of an amazing career R.I.P to this lady
I remember her. Watched her on MTV all the time and was such a fan in my twens. 😃🥳 She was one year older than me. She had such a beautiful smile & seemed to be a very very very kind and sweet person. 💖🫶😃☀️
RIP Aaliyah. What makes this so much more tragic is lost potential. We'll never know where she'd go artistically or know her level of success. What remains is a significant impact on culture and music and that is the only evidence we have that she would have been a megastar.
She was already a trendsetter back then during the few years of her life, now imagine all the things she would have done so far. She planned to become a fashion designer with her bf Kidada Jones, signed several movie contracts, wanted to record a rock album. We were robbed!
She was reminds me so much of Selena because her impact on culture and music 🎶 . Both Aaliyah and Selena gone too soon. They left such an impact. What a waste of talent and potential.

I met her 3 weeks before the crash . Bumped into her at a starbucks in Philly. She was coming out as I was going in. I crashed into her causing her to drop her drink. I offered to get her another one and finally it clicked who she was . We talked for maybe 10 minutes but then her bodyguard insisted they had to go. Something I’ll never forget . I cried so hard when she died.
I remember waking up randomly the night the plane crash happened and turned on Mtv to news about it. So sad that her life was cut short. She was a very talented actress and singer. OMG! I love u guy and gal, u are so awesome for doing this and u made me cry just like with the "Selena Memorial" video!!!!! She was known for being so sweetly genuine(TLC the R&B group said when they would have to practice their dance moves, Aaliyah would sit on the floor watching them and playing the music they needed and there wasn't any kind of jealousy bull crap that goes on between lots of females)and I remember walking inside our house after my hubby and I had picked up our little girl from my mom's, turned on the TV and there it was "R&B star Aaliyah died in a plane crash" all I could do was cry? I finally knew how ppl who are really dedicated fans, felt? I was friends a few years ago with Scott Gallin’s (her bodyguards) widow. She now lives in a small town in Ky. She always talked about her late husband an about their life in Florida. One day, after being comfortable enough to ask, I ask how he passed? Then she told me. I was blown away. Scott called her before take off and he knew it was overloaded. But what do you do? Aaliyah was the boss. I eventually moved and we haven’t been in contact for awhile. One day she brought things over of Scott’s and shared so many stories.
@@tecklafurro2040 that’s a question no one can really answer. Aaliyah was wanting to get back main inland to go to some get together. I know Scott was seated in the back. He was a big man. Didn't realize she had so much of an impact on me until I was older. She was such an inspiration. I remember copying her one eye bang cover up look, wearing baggy pants but tight shirt in HS, playing her last released CD everyday after school...she is sorely missed 💔 R.I.P. Aaliyah 🕊️ 🌹
This upload was awesome. Great content as always ❤
Thank you
What a cruel loss it is... She had all her life ahead and so much talent in her hands, thanks for documenting her last resting place!
22 is when you life just gets started. I will forever mourn her death
You're so dope for this. Most only cover the gravesite but it's so great to see the other intimate places an artist dwelled. She was one of my favorites by far! Such a rare diamond
This one really bring backs memories. I am so glad you did this one. You never seem to surprise on which video you decide to move forward with. THANK YOU
I was such a big fan of Aaliyah and it broke my heart into a million pieces when she died and I cried for weeks and weeks for her and into this very day the hurt on and off comes back . She was everything that people ever wanted and when I look at pictures of Aaliyah I always smile and sometimes I cry knowing she’s not here no more and never will come back. Thank you for making and sharing this video of the place she’d stayed, the church they had her funeral at, and showing her final resting place. R.I.P. Aaliyah Dana Haughton.
Her death was so devastating. Its nice to see her sweetness and legendary music lives on today.
Thank you so much for this video. R.I.P. Aaliyah
I just love how sensitive and respectful you both always are. You have big hearts and always approach things with class. Thank you for another great video!
Aaliyah was and is one in a million, thank you for covering her story I sat through it with goosebumps.I was also born in 1979 so we were the same age she is 2 weeks older than I am.I am a huge fan Michael just like Selena 2 beautiful talent music artist's taken far to soon 😢 Thank you both again and that is the first time I've seen inside the church just so beautiful 🎤🎬❤ x
I vicariously live through you two, and your videos. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I truly enjoy them. I loved her, and her music.
I heard that too and that she was sacrificed. 😢 She would have been a huge force to this day too.
That church is absolutely STUNNING !!.i was not expecting all that. She had a nice funeral
Been waiting for you to do a video on Aaliyah. Awesome.
Her death was so shocking and sad. Hard to believe it’s been so long. Thanks for the video.
🎃Thank you for this; Aalyah was a fantastic artist and no one could have played Queen of the Damned like she did...
Rip Queen AALIYAH!!!!!!
Great work on your video!! Watching from Australia and I love that you cover everything and all genres. Keep up the good work!
I was sad when this happened. She was such a talented young lady. Gone way too soon. But forever in our hearts.
Beautiful work Grimm life!!! Aaliyah was a beautiful soul inside and out peace and love 💜 everybody
Rest in Peace Aaliyah ❤🙏
She is the true Queen of the Damned 🧛🏽♀️
My grandparents are buried at the same mausoleum at Ferncliff ! I noticed that they moved Aaliyah’s grave to an upper draw , she was originally on the ground level !
This is the first time ive cried from one of your videos. Aaliyah was and will always be ONE IN A MILLION. So much talent, heart and beauty in a 22yo. That death hit me hard. I was a freshman in college at the time.
I was living in NYC when she passed away. It's extremely sad when someone young dies. They have their whole life ahead of them and the families heart are broken for life.
RIP
I love how you know her for “One and a million”. That’s my favourite Aaliyah song. Great video.
Such a beautiful video for a beautiful soul. I love Aaliyah's music and I have both for movies on VHS. I cried when I heard that she died. She had so much talent. I still can't believe she's gone
Omg thank you for doing this ! 🙏🏽🥹I’m so emotional ! I’m her #1 fan so to see this on my feed was an absolute delight and surprise so thank you !! You did excellent and we will always remember her beautiful spirit ❤ Let’s continue to keep her beautiful Legacy alive 🙏🏽 I’m gonna let all the Aaliyah fans know that you did this video too! They will be soo happy ! Blessings to the both of you 🙏🏽
She was truly a Queen, gone too soon
I liked her single “Try Again” and I loved Queen of the Damned but I first became aware of Aaliyah because Madonna sampled her song “Back and Forth” in a song called “Inside of Me” on her album, Bedtime Stories. I was obsessed with the Bedtime Stories album.
She decorated her condo with a lot of Egyptian artwork and decorations, it would have been nice to see pictures before it was sold and remodeled, the family left it exactly how she left it for over 10 years before selling it. it was remodeled twice since it was sold.
That church interior took my breath away. Rest in peace baby girl.
No one has ever done this before that I saw. I appreciate you taking time to recognize her. Aaliyah was an amazing women. I will never forget her! 🪬
She will always be our first Princess❣️ To this day. Her music, her beauty and her sweet spirit remains. ALWAYS WILL. 👑😢
My older sisters played the One in a Million Album so often that it takes me back to my childhood. I bought the vinyl as soon as it was available and it’s the best thing I bought in 2020.
Over 20 years later and it’s still hard to accept she’s gone.
I agree!😢
Wish. Could. Save. Her. She's. With. Angel s. She's. With. Us. Everyday. 💫✨🌌🌠☄️💥👽🌏🌍🌍🙋
Awwww so cool to see her on this channel. Grew up along with her. A beautiful person gone too soon. Thank you for this video, Wonderful as always
Another great video. Excellent job guys. Thanks for the hard work you put into these stories.
I talked to Anne Rice about this, she said, "I told them not to make that movie."
I only knew her from "Queen of the Damned" and she was totally amazing....so sad her life was cut so short at the beginning and continuing of an amazing career
R.I.P to this lady
I remember her. Watched her on MTV all the time and was such a fan in my twens. 😃🥳 She was one year older than me. She had such a beautiful smile & seemed to be a very very very kind and sweet person. 💖🫶😃☀️
Rip Aaliyah she was very talented and she had beautiful personality
Great video! It's been a while since I was in New York. I remember the movie too, Queen of the Damned.
Elle serait aux même niveau que Beyoncé et Mariah Carey elle auraient passés un
Très joyeux Noël 🎅 🤶
She was reminds me so much of Selena because her impact on culture and music 🎶 . Both Aaliyah and Selena gone too soon. They left such an impact. What a waste of talent and potential.
@@SaraShakur94She reminds of Selena in terms of trendsetter, fashion and music. We were robbed of great people and artists.
@@dariusparris2698You're Correct! The Queen👑 and The Princess👑 Speaking from the Astrological side of things. They're both Cardinal Signs(Selena♈ Aaliyah♑) Both have an Aquarius♒ Rising(Innovators) Both have a Mars♂️ in Capricorn♑(Exalted in Mars) Both were born on the 16th of their months (Selena-April 16 & Aaliyah-January16)
An astrologer on TikTok stated that #16 is Angel Energy. Everyone who either knew them, or came in contact with them stated that they were angels on earth. They both died tragically for preventable things. YOUNG Music Royalty was taken away. I'll never get over either of them🥲 Forever Beloved, Revered, and Missed💜🖤💖💔
Thank You for this ‼🙏🏾
What a talent she was! Aaliyah had it all, beauty, talent, kindness. Such a shame she was taken so soon. I live in NYC but I've never been to that church. It is so beautful; I will have to go visit it soon. Thanks for the beautiful video xxx
Thank you so much for making this content! This was beautiful done ♥️ such an amazing icon !
A very talented artist who left too soon. Just listen to her song "I Refuse" and you will most likely be put into tears.
Thank you for this great footage, really appreciate y'all for it.. ❤️🙏🏾
I also named my puppy Akasha after her
Awww what did y’all say❤
I was just about to start my senior year of high school when this happened. Right before 9/11 happened. Aaliyah was EVERYTHING.
I remember waking up randomly the night the plane crash happened and turned on Mtv to news about it. So sad that her life was cut short. She was a very talented actress and singer. I am a huge fan of Queen Of The Damned. No one else could have brought Akasha to life like she did. She was so awesome!
Been a fan of the channel for a couple of years. Really enjoy learning about things Grimm I haven't heard of like the last video about son of sam
Anthony Dodd, one of her hair stylists, is buried at our local cemetery in Delano, CA. Such a sad day when this happened.
My heart is STILL broken 20+ years later 💔🥺😭 I remember when this happened… my family and I just moved back to NYC. I will never forget you babygirl 🕊️ This was such a great video Grimm life 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
The sad thing was she had just started to make her comeback after all the R Kelly controversy and her career was at its peak when she died. A true star taken way too soon.
*Aaliyah was so kind and had a great impact on the culture! I have SO many great memories of Aaliyah that I will cherish always.*
I'm also a survivor of certain types of child abuse, I could see there was a sadness in her eyes and I feel that since a certain monster's finally been locked away, Aaliyah's smiling in angel form? She can finally RIP. ❤💖😇
I am a huge AAliyah fan and I thank you for doing this! This is actually something I want to do when I visit NY myself! There is also a Willow tree in Central Park dedicated to her that her family planted. Thank You
Great video as always, love how you make videos on people from all different walks of life
Everyone has a story too be told. And we just love walking history. Thank you for watching.
But why did they go on knowing it was overloaded?
@@tecklafurro2040 that’s a question no one can really answer. Aaliyah was wanting to get back main inland to go to some get together. I know Scott was seated in the back. He was a big man. They tried to even out the load and thinking it was an of course it wasn’t. I also asked her if he knew it was overloaded why didn’t he stay behind? Her answer was….when you take that oath as a bodyguard all bets are on the table. You are 💯 dedicated.
@@tonnasullivan9374 Wow
Wow how terrible...
Thank you for taking the time to showcase her memorial. Its a place id like to visit and I am spiritual not religious so I don't place power in resting places because I know the soul lives on but Its the same way I feel about Catholic Churches. The beauty is so awe-inspiring. You can really feel God's presence and I imagine a very peaceful feeling. I'd also like to visit her tree planted in her memory in Central Park near where she lived the full year before she died. I imagine its a very peaceful place also. Also your wife seems sweet! I love the respect you guys give and the quirky niche you've found here on RUclips. Much Success to you guys! Edit: WOW I was not prepared for that shot of the inside of the church. Stunning!
R.I.P to the Queen. She slayed everything she did in just a short period of time. She’s a legend, an icon an a huge inspiration to me. I’m so grateful to have been named after her. #Aaliyah
I absolutely loved this video thank you my sister and i adored her so much growing up. May i ask what the beautiful chanting music is that you used it spoke to me emotionally so much. thank you both again for doing this for Aaliyah.
This was very beautiful ❤ baby girl is truly missed she's a goddess. When she passed away she took a piece of us with her. 🙏✨️🌹💕🕊
I’m shocked you both touched up on this one…man, that was a sad time when I heard of her passing.. I just left the Rio in Vegas and got in the car and heard on the local hip hop station of her passing……sigh…thanks for doing this one!
Thank you so much for sharing this . 20 something years later and it still feels like It was yesterday and I was 9 yrs old when she passed but grew up to her music from my mom having her tapes and CDs at that time and I'm 32 now and for me to pass the tender age of 22 which she was when she died...man she had so much more to live for and just getting started and to be very mature at that age then compared to the 20 yr old now..SHEESH she woulda been HUGE today 🙏🏾🥺
Thanks for sharing❤ This was beautifully done.
My baby who is now 21 was born the same night Aaliyah passed. This is still extremely heartbreaking 💔
