I love detecting. It’s digging and finding history that is a thrill for me. And the days that I don’t find anything are still good days enjoying nature.
Hey Terry it's Seth, we met just the other day in Frazee. I'm glad you told me about your youtube channel, your videos are inspiring and of very high quality. You inspired me to get a metal detector and do some searching myself. I look forward to seeing more of your finds and to get some of my own. Good Luck hunting!
Hi Terry-My husband Dan McGuire and I met you yesterday (2/10/2017) at the beach. I told you that I had just gotten a metal detector for Christmas. I found you to be so inspiring, and now seeing your videos, I'm considering you to be my first big find! Thanks for all the info!!!
Hi Terry, it's Tim from TN. It was great talking with you and good luck hunting today. I will let you know when I get to FL over the holidays and hopefully we can get together and hunt a little. If we don't sync up over the holidays due to our schedules, I will be down the next "good" storm👍 Happy Hunting!

Wow! great video that tells it like it is , im excited now after watching your video! these type of things keep the fire burnin, Fantastic finds Terry, keep up the good work and the passion you have for the full scope of metal detecting , the history etc
+Jerry Pittman Thanks Jerry, it was a lot of fun putting it together. There is so much about our great hobby that it's hard to know where to stop. Good luck out there Terry
Thanks Mark, I am really lucky to be able to hunt an area with as much history as the treasure coast has. If your ever in the area look me up and we can do a little hunting together. Good luck to you also Terry
Hey Terry! I stumbled upon your channel today and have watched everything thing on your channel since =) I absolutely love it, i know its all pretty old but i really look forward to some more videos =) Huge fan ..... Thanks for sharing Bud GL&HH
I've researched the Treasure Coast books from around your area, and one book shows "your" beach treasure to come from the "Nuestra Senora Del Carmen". I hope that doesn't give too much away, Terry. I learned more from your video on reading a beach and it's sand, than a month of watching other's digging & chatter videos. I quickly sub'd.
Hey Terry, I absolutely love your videos. It's all about the history and you explain everything so well!! I live in NY and took my metal detector with me on vacation to Melbourne. I was so thrilled to be detecting on the treasure coast!!! On my second day of detecting I found a smaller than a penny almost paper thin disk....I am hoping it is an old coin (maybe from 1715 fleet) but cant tell from the green patina?? on it. If I sent you some close ups could you help me decide what it is? It could be worthless money wise...but priceless to me if I found a 300 year old coin. Thanks, Joe
Joseph I spend my winters in Melbourne beach. Is your coin silver or copper. I often find very thin Cuban coins that I believe are aluminum. Send me a picture at tshannon3@cfl.rr.com. Terry

Terry.... I hope you find yourself safe during Hurricane Matthew... I also know that after the storm has passed you will definitely be on the beach swinging away... I hope to one day live and hunt the east coast... I've stayed in Melbourne on vacation and would love to move to the area soon... Good luck and God's Blessings on you.... :)
Hi Terry was watching a few of your videos and a friend of mine and myself are heading down to treasure coast Sept 29 - Oct 8...if you're planning on being in town maybe we could go hunt together or you could show us some pointers..since we're from the midwest only sand we've hunted in are the volleyball courts..and local lakes. Also was going to ask about if there are places we could rent a long handled scoop..I have a short one..but I'm going to need a long one to hunt in the surf. Just let me know your ideas...Thanks so much for your videos.
Tina I'm a snow bird and I'm only in Florida for the winter months. I have an extra long handled scoop you can borrow. If you come down this winter give me a shout. Terry
If you want to be successful hunting ocean beaches watch all of his videos and pay attention. I suggest you watch them more than just once. This guy really knows how to read beaches.
Keep the videos coming!! I hunt the southern outer banks of NC. A lot of history here too. I hope to get an excalibur or sovereign in the next week. My cz20 died on me. Ive been wanting a mine lab for a while now so I'm gonna jump write in!
You can go wrong with either. I have both but unless I'm actually in the water I use the sovereign because I also use different coils. I have read a lot about the outer banks and hunting it at least once is on my bucket list. Terry
+wadoman699 Thank you so much. We enjoy a great hobby and if we can talk about it and share it just makes it so much more fun. Good luck out there. Terry
Terry, I’m from Vero Beach and now live in Fort Pierce. I’m retired now but my business was buying older or modern pieces of jewelry, then restoring them to like new and reselling them. If you would be interested in doing something with your stock of jewelry let me know and perhaps we could work out.
+NH beach metaldetecting Thanks for the kind words. I'm back in Minnesota for the summer so it will be a whole different kind of detecting. Good luck out there. Terry
Terry, not sure if you still check these comments. Love all your videos and info! I moved to Melbourne a couple years ago and have been metal detecting more frequently. On the beaches between 192 and Sebastian. Do you have an email that I could reach you for some more info on what beaches are good for finding Spanish artifacts?
This is what I plan to do in 50years when I retire. I live right outside of Pensacola so I go to Pensacola beach a couple times a month but I'm not sure how to search in the wet sand. The shoreline looks a little different than what I see in your videos. Maybe something you could help me with. Thanks again
Joe one of the things I do here is try to get out as the tide is going out. When I'm in a promising area I start high and walk toward the surf. Another words I follow the waves out. I often get caught if I'm way out and the waves hits me as I come back in but your detecting the area most likely to hold the targets and no one gets there first. Good luck, Terry
Mr Terry I really enjoy your videos and I'm in the market for my first metal detector. What kind would you recommend for the beach? I watch a lot of videos but I'm undecided on which one to buy and I figure you would be the best person for me to ask. Thank you for reading my comments, I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Almon I use the minelab sovereign. There is a lot of mineralization in the wet sand and you need a detector that can handle that. If you hunt the dry sand any detector will work well but if you follow the tides and work the wet sand you need a detector that can go from dry to wet. The minelab does that well.
Hi Terry, great video. I'll be down from upstate New York to do some beach hunting. I would love to get down your way, hunt with you or just pick your brain. God bless and good hunting!
Terry, we have been down. I plan on going to wabasso beach tomorrow. This will be my first trip down, may only find a pull tab but it's great to get out. hope to meet you but if not good luck to you
Thank so much, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I apologize for taking so long to get back to you, a computer glitch wouldn't allow me to answer but it's now fixed. My grandkids have much better computer skills. Good luck. Terry.
I have had good luck with the sovereign and I have one trick that has served me well. The sovereign has various tones for different targets. I turn the threshold up so I can hear it and if it changes tones I will stop and investigate. I get great depth over a foot at times but that is on the beach and the wet sand may help increase it's depth. I'm anxious to see what the equinox will perform. Terry
Most all the beaches from the dunes to the low water line are ok. You need permission in state parks and no detecting Federal seashore up by cape Canaveral. Terry
No they don't Brandon. Anything found on the beach from the low tide line to the dunes is fair game. As far as selling I only sell to friends if they want some individual piece. Hope this helps. Terry
awesome ! but you would get more if you were swinging that coil properly by keeping it horizontal to the sand instead of the upturn at the end of your swing
You are right there is no question. I have had 5 surgeries on my arms but I have really been working on the huge weakness. You can teach an old dog new tricks . Thank you for your comments. Terry
+Joseph Lovetto Thank you Joseph, This area has so much history that it's hard not to get caught up in it. I appreciate your kind words and hope we meet up on the beach one day. Terry
