- During the second day of her legendary Central Park concert, Diana Ross attempted to start her workout hit entitled 'Work That Body', right after 'Muscles'. Apparently, there was so much movement and pushing going on in the audience, that she stopped the song in its tracks. In order to change the pace, Diana went on to perform 'Endless Love'.
A rare fragment which was not included in the televised broadcast or the DVD that was released later.

A little magic. Still can't find anyone to take her place. At her age today (although she looks half her age) it's sad to think she won't be around. The world will need another entertainment icon - another Diana Ross.

I was in NYC for my first ever holiday abroad, aged 17. We arrived the afternoon beforef the storm and we actually walked in Central Park as 1000s of people were coming in for the first concert. The next day, the weather was gorgeous. I was probably up the Empire State Building when this was filmed.
1:55 Relax! She changes the pace with Endless Love just like she did the previoys night when the storm was bothering the crowd.
Well thank you so much for sharing this as I've never seen it ANYWHERE in 40 years. This is of great significance to me because I WAS THERE that day, in the middle of that crazy crowd!
This was my first concert at 18 and I did not go the first day due to the rain. Once I heard it was rescheduled for the next day, I didn't hesitate to go.
The crowd in the park had been rowdy all evening, selling pot, snatching chains and of course pushing.
The moment when Diana began to sing "Work That Body", I remember she JUST got the first verse out. As soon as she did, there was a rush of people coming straight my way. Apparently someone nearby got stabbed because they wouldn't give up their property. It was totally unexpected and as a result, I got knocked down and one of my sneakers came off. I instinctly rolled to my right so as not to get trampled.
Seconds later, I got up, dusted myself off, found my sneaker nearby and got the hell out of there.
I was very lucky not to sustain any injuries and I was also fortunate to leave when I did. It was reported on the news that once the concert ended, people leaving the park were getting mugged all the way downtown to Times Square, more than a mile away.
I don't regret going despite what happened. I got to see a Legend for FREE in my first concert experience EVER!

Thank you very much for sharing your memories of this moment during Diana's concert in Central Park, Robert. That must have been quite a frightening experience! This sheds a light on how there was this sudden unease and uproar within the audience. You made a wise decision to leave the area there and then. I'm glad you found this fragment so meaningful.

Yes it was indeed a scary experience. I really wanted to stay for the whole concert but after that, I felt it was best that I left. I was just 18 at the time and it was my first concert so I didn't know what to expect. I was fortunate that I live in New York and where I resided at at the time wasn't too far away from the park.
I knew this segment would not be on the DVD nor was it on any syndicated broadcast. I can only guess this was shown on the live Showtime cable broadcast that day and I'm also guessing that if you didn't record it back then, you would probably never see it again.
As I already stated in my first comment, I never thought that I would see footage of this performance. A friend actually pointed it out to me last year. Despite my harrowing experience, I'm glad to at least have seen documentation of it.

Guess she had to cut it short cause the crowd was getting rowdy. Overall one of the best concerts of all time.

My old piano never sung live
I agree, I've never heard "My Old Piano" sung live. It's a great tune.
