Just a suggestion... but I think the timing kit you refer to comes with something you also put onto the camshafts (as you also have to remove the valve cover to gain access). There is a one time use diamond crush washer that goes between crank timing gear (which is free-wheeling on the crank, as you mentioned it is not keyed). I think in order to do this job right you also need to obtain a new crush washer and the rest of that timing kit. But mad props to you getting that thing to even start at all with what you had. Much respect.

Yea these run forever usually. I think it was lack of oil changes that killed it. Luckily these engines are easy to find and are pretty cheap

@@L8R-HP I did a crankshaft/harmonic balancer change on a 2018 2.0 same motor I had it timed but I ended up putting the same pulley back on. So I timed it again with the new pulley and when I went to crank the motor I forgot I left the Ratchet and socket on the pulley and the whole pulley fell out. After that I tried to time it again but it wouldn't get back into time. I'm thinking the Valve might be broken of the crankshaft broke. It turns on but it just runs really rough.

you should give proper mechanical diagnosis a try sometime.
You would waste a lot less time and effort. Just replacing old parts with more old parts and not diagnosing anything is not helping anyone. yourself included
