  • Ford 2.0 How to Remove Timing Cover
In this video I have a leaking timing cover on this non turbo Ford and cannot just remove the timing cover without a special tool kit and following a specific procedure. Well this engine does not have a key way for the harmonic balancer and if you remove the balancer without the proper procedure you will end up with one of several issues. Worst thing would be bent valves, Crank no start, check engine light or drivability issues. It is not an incredibly difficult job so come with me and let me show you how to get this done without any issues.

Two great non diesel engines vids in a row! I think there are techs who get it and those who pretend to get it. Tone gets it and has no attitude at all. He is willing to share his knowledge with the world. Tone is most definitely the best at what he does. He is an example of how to be a master technician. Excellent job Tone!

Bill you truly are a wonderful human, thank you for the continued support. I made this video because I have made the mistake of taking this a part not knowing about the tools needed because I mean hey it is just a timing cover. I have seen several techs take this a part and put it back together 2 or 3 times until getting it right. Thank you for watching.

nice video over all. if the cam is locked from rotating and the timing chain is on......is the crank not locked as well? are we holding back up just to keep from damaging the timing components and not necessarily to keep the engine from spinning?

The crank should be up against a pin in the block, this pin only keeps it from turning one direction though. You are keeping the engine in time, because then you have to get balancer on for the crank sensor

@@NutsandBoltswithTone No unfortunately I'm in North Central Florida, QUICK question, I have around 130,000 miles on mine, bought new, it APPEARS the engine mount bolts INTO the timing cover, is that correct? I had my engine mount replaced maybe 40K latter than it should of been, 1) do you think that vibration of a worn out engine mount could of caused damage TO the timing cover or loosened the mount bolts to the block? 2) OR the installer did damage TO the cover installing the engine mount that would cause the leak? 3) Worse case scenario do you think I should buy a factory timing cover IN ADVANCE of having the leak repaired in case I need a new one? 4) Have you ever seen a issue where the cover would need to be repaired?
