Okay - so it looks like you want LONGER episodes? We are only too happy to oblige - this EP is over half an hour long:) A quick note first: the sound on this episode is not great with plenty of background noise. The reason for that, as Dave explains at the beginning of the video, is that it rained all day, and rain on the aluminium roof makes one hell of a racket! Sorry... Anyhoo - back to the episode itself which features some useful hacks and shortcuts including a clever way of wiring in a Wideband Controller. Dave also splices in some extra long wires for the rear mounted fuel pump, trans fan and power steering and shows us his braiding technique so pull up a chair, grab a hot cup of coffee and follow along! Alternatively jump forward to any of the shortcuts listed below: Dave's Wideband (CAN) Hack - ruclips.net/video/mDywezNuL0Q/видео.html Splicing in new long wire groups - ruclips.net/video/mDywezNuL0Q/видео.html Sheathing/Braiding - ruclips.net/video/mDywezNuL0Q/видео.html Firewall Connectors - ruclips.net/video/mDywezNuL0Q/видео.html --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are interested in Deutch Bulkheads in any shape or size - head over to Connector-Tech ALS and use code: DAVESVLOG at the checkout for a 10% discount. These videos, tech tuesdays etc. Are why I went with Haltech. The support team is mega; Luke in particular has looked after me on my install and made it really approachable for a first time install. Keep up the great work; this series is spot on for detail and Dave’s commentary is very clear. One query, will Dave be dynoing the car 10 beers deep? Should make for a fun video!
Awesome stuff! Also Hi Dave, I was the young bloke who had a little chat to you a few weeks back at castle hill exhaust when you were playing around with the blue commie on meth, sorry about the 'Wait, I've seen you on mightycarmods' bit. All the elec stuff I'm learning at the moment is tough, but hopefully it pays off, all the wiring looks like a rewarding challenge!
These video's are absolutely briljant! Thanks Dave and Haltech crew! Great way of seeing how the pro's go about it and giving tips and useful information to make wiring less daunting for people who only do it once in a while. Keep them coming! But I would like to hear Dave's take on this: In this episode we see Dave splice a few wires together using crimping. I am not doubting this method, and it working really well for him. But there is always an ongoing debate on crimping vs. soldering electrical connections. I myself prefer to solder my connections for the simple fact that (if done correctly of course and using heat shrink!) moist doesn't get in there and corrodes the connection. On the other hand I often hear people argue that soldering wouldn't be able to cope with the vibrations in a car and the heat in a engine bay. What is Dave's take on crimping vs. soldering?
Yesssss. Longer episode!! Thnx for the detailed info man. I’ll more than likely have to rewatch all of this when I’m ready to give it a try but I’m learning a lot. Keep safe man.
Try using the old wire as a draw for the new wire. Using a bit of electrical tape to tag the new wire onto the old one and simply pull it through all the pre-existing loom. Benefits are it’s quick and will follow the exact path of the old wire with unraveling the loom.
Hey Mr Marketing Team Please leave Dave to to the full length episodes plenty of useful information, tricks and tips. Not everyone is doing it this way 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
If the ground wire on the can connector was changed to a battry ground rather than the signal ground and everything will still work why dose it come like that. When should you use the signal ground?
Hi, I've just followed this wideband hack with my elite 2000. I've noticed a high frequency sort of buzz coming from ecu with ignition on. Ive seen a few people with same issue and they found using a different power source solved the issue. Would it matter? The buzz doesnt bother me when tucked away wont hear it especially with engine running. Thanks
Butt crimps... hehehehehehe. I know, I know, I'm a child, but it's what gets me through the day without getting sent to jail. On a more adult note, yay longer episode!
Nice work sire, a question are the braiding material heat resistant? I am running rotary engine and as you may know rotary tend to run hot. How do you protect your engine harness for the heat?
Dave ! Question ? Since you didn't use the signal ground for the heated circuit of the lambda O2S , did you remove that wire from the ECU connector? Did you re use it for other things?
With the WB02 Sensor. Do you need to wire 2 of them for 1 to do Target & the other for Actually AFR in each exhaust pipe, or do you only need 1 WB02 Sensor in each exhaust pipe for mapping? (1 WB02 Sensor does both Target & Actually AFR together) Plus do You need a Narrowband? Thanks 😊
So why wouldnt the original haltech loom have this earth "hack" done? what is the reason? If i dont use a wideband on the can connector do i need to revert it back to original again?
It was considered but we can't change the spec of a harness with so many already out there. It's just a logisitical and production / tech support decision. It's something we are taking into consideration with the NEXUS series.
Hi I am getting confused what loom I would like, I have a jzx100 and am I right by saying if I get a premium loom I can get rid of the factory fuse box as the premium loom has one built in?
@Haltech Dave, Thank you for showing all the tips and tricks! Can't wait to implement these on my own car! Quick question though: would a Elite 2500 be able to perform as a turbo timer, or do I need to get a standalone timer? Thanks again!
Sail away, sail away, sail away in the falcon boat..... Using tape over heat shrink... Dave i had held you to a higher standard. Next you will be breaking out the scotch locks - haha
What if you don’t have the Haltech harness? But have the plug and play elite 1500 ECU for s13 Sr20det. Does that wide band hack also work for my set up. It’s currently not installed at the moment is why I’m asking. I also have your can gauge not installed. Any guidance will greatly be appreciated. Thanks check out my channel for my Datsun 510 Sr20 powered build. Now using Haltech elite 1500 hundred.

Loving these daily videos, so much good info. Awesome you guys are taking everyones feedback into account.
Great stuff!!!!!!
Thank you for the longer episode, Dave's voice is very soothing
Thanks for the longer ep! its awesome
Love that you kept the long episodes keep up the great work your killing it 💪
Thanks for the longer episode. Really great stuff!
Yes! Back to full length episodes. Obviously the marketing team isn't always right 😉
We were right about listening to you guys:)
- the marketing team -
"We Are Always Right"
🤣😂🤣
Yay, THANK YOU boys in marketing! We appreciate you.
SOOO GOOD!
Finally a wiring blog that is aimed at the enthusiast!
so pleased i found this . perfect timing , just about to fit my WB2 unit . love this hack .thanks heaps .
You know I just figured out why I like this. Dave is Marty from the og series of MCM, Politely confident but not entirely "you tuber" comfortable.
Awesome job. You have turned a wiring job into a community service announcement. Really well done.
Even the down to the taping technique it's all done to perfection.
Loving the longer Episodes, Thanks Haltech
three cheers for the marketing guys! bloody legends
Dave is super easy to listen too and explains things really well for dead shits like me with wiring.
If Dave ever starts his own radio station it would have to be called Smooth Wiring FM....
Thanks so much for longer episodes!
Thanks Marketing Team for listening! Nice work Haltech and ofc Dave, great content!
Glad you're enjoying the series:) And thanks for the feedback!

nice longer video thank u more knowledge feed our brains
You slept in that falcon yesterday so no rain for you pal, I work construction in the rain I wish I had a ls v8 falcon.
These video's are absolutely briljant! Thanks Dave and Haltech crew!

Dude i saw the beginning and was waiting for you to walk in to a ring for the fight against wiring, 10 wins, 10 KO's 0 losses lol
Dude that eg was cleeeean!
Great tips with splicing method dave
Thanks Dave. Great stuff! Really enjoying learning about this stuff
Great series this. Very instructional and well planned out.
These video's are awesome.
I’m
Just wiring in my own haltech elite now question is why don’t the looms already come with the can ground done?
Try using the old wire as a draw for the new wire. Using a bit of electrical tape to tag the new wire onto the old one and simply pull it through all the pre-existing loom. Benefits are it’s quick and will follow the exact path of the old wire with unraveling the loom.
Dave, that’s a great CAN/WB hack - out of curiosity why isn’t it done like this originally?
makes it more Pliable
Splicing, can you give us a close up cutting/exposing the spliced to wire. Great series!

Hey Mr Marketing Team
Please leave Dave to to the full length episodes plenty of useful information, tricks and tips. Not everyone is doing it this way 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Noted!
Very helpful, only last week I was working out why i need so many ECU to WB connectors when the two were less than 200mm apart.
onya dave!
Quick question, why not use heat shrink over that crimped ground for the wide band?
Love It... had to play at 1.5x speed but love it hahah
Nice :)
"Kicking back with Enya" LMAO
It was miserable here today too 😔 (but we did have a few sudden bouts of sunshine... ☀️😎☀️)
At 19:20 you discuss the wiring braid looms what are the diameter of those looms?
What fabric tape do you prefer? Is there split loam that is the same style for replacing the ribbed plastic with fabric style?
Temco also makes some nice relays, for those who check their site about the crimpers.
@7:00 why electrical tape instead of shrink tube?
If the ground wire on the can connector was changed to a battry ground rather than the signal ground and everything will still work why dose it come like that.
When should you use the signal ground?

Your way of talking is identical to Tuning Fork. :)
At minute 20.55 great tip.i was always having this problem.do u have the link for that braided thing. I'm learning a lot from channel.Thanks.
Butt crimps... hehehehehehe. I know, I know, I'm a child, but it's what gets me through the day without getting sent to jail. On a more adult note, yay longer episode!
oh no, we are the butt of all jokes now....
I'm not going to say anything about the nut and the flange
Got to all the trouble of doing a proper splice. Use heatshrink all ready have it cut to slide it on. So much better then tape!
Nice work sire, a question are the braiding material heat resistant? I am running rotary engine and as you may know rotary tend to run hot. How do you protect your engine harness for the heat?
If I have 12v and 5v sensors can both earths go back to the signal earth without any problems. All my sensors are 5v except for the flex fuel
Dave ! Question ? Since you didn't use the signal ground for the heated circuit of the lambda O2S , did you remove that wire from the ECU connector? Did you re use it for other things?
Hi Dave, why is the heater circuit signal ground not suitable for wideband circuit ? is it because it runs 12volt instead of 5volts?
With the WB02 Sensor. Do you need to wire 2 of them for 1 to do Target & the other for Actually AFR in each exhaust pipe, or do you only need 1 WB02 Sensor in each exhaust pipe for mapping? (1 WB02 Sensor does both Target & Actually AFR together) Plus do You need a Narrowband? Thanks 😊

What crimper do you use for the smaller bits? I only see a link to the lug crimpers.
whats the smallest wire gauge that comes on the elite premium harness?
9:06 did you ring Scottie back??
No he didn't.... Scott's still waiting.....
Pretty sure it had something to do with some fuses taken out of Scott's car....
Why didn’t you use heat shrink over type?
What gauge wire does a wire harness use? What size pins
What were the 3 sizes of the braid? Please.
Good show pissan down.
Hi I am getting confused what loom I would like, I have a jzx100 and am I right by saying if I get a premium loom I can get rid of the factory fuse box as the premium loom has one built in?
I have the elite 2000 btw 🤘
27:44 did you say air fire? Can't find a website???
EFI Hardware. All the links are in the video description.
Who had these beers? They're supposed to be day 5, 6 & 7
The local bottle shop was kept very busy during Dave's quarantine...
What do you recommend when open barrel splices are out of stock
May be out of stock because they are recommended lol.
@Haltech Dave, Thank you for showing all the tips and tricks! Can't wait to implement these on my own car! Quick question though: would a Elite 2500 be able to perform as a turbo timer, or do I need to get a standalone timer? Thanks again!

Using tape over heat shrink... Dave i had held you to a higher standard. Next you will be breaking out the scotch locks - haha
Heat shrink is only an option if you have cut through both wires. Unfortunately it isn't always an option without making a lot more work for yourself.
Heatshrink anyone? Maybe little, maybe where you used splices? What about if given on a discount?
What's the deal with the sleeping in the car gag that one passed me by.
Self Isolation for 2 weeks, end of Ep1

Was that the marketing guys being "not gentle with your package"? lol
Hey Dave, is there any reason you wouldn't solder the wire?
It's explained in detail in one of the later episodes.
