Welcome to Dave's Wiring Vlog - in all its raw beauty! In the first episode Dave introduces the car/engine he's going to be wiring, talks us through all the tools he's going to be using and then starts the harness prep by separating all the different wire groups. This is a rather long episode so if you want to jump to a particular section we've included a few shortcuts below: Tools Overview: ruclips.net/video/IpNfRaM_P04/видео.html Car Overview: ruclips.net/video/IpNfRaM_P04/видео.html Harness Overview: ruclips.net/video/IpNfRaM_P04/видео.html Harness Prep - Wire Grouping: ruclips.net/video/IpNfRaM_P04/видео.html?t=833 --------------------------------------------------------------- Our friends at HP Academy have given us a discount code for anyone interested in their wiring courses: Wiring fundamentals: bit.ly/HPAWiringFundamentals Club level Wiring: bit.ly/HPAClubLevelWiring Professional Motorsport level Wiring: bit.ly/HPAMotorsportWiring Enter code: 48V7KF to get a $70 discount. How good is that!
Gotta be rough only having 1 beer a day to keep count, but also probably why you're doing such a great job haha Cheers for the excellent watch there Dave! We're hooked - Taz.
I like wiring jobs, just work through all the wires one by one. Really relaxing and satisfying to end up with a neat, reliable and serviceable loom. Dave is very relaxing to watch too, so it seems a good match. Looking forward to the next episode and thanks for the content!
And for the love of everything holy. When you use cable ties/zip ties, USE FLUSH CUTTERS TO CUT THE BLOODY TAILS OFF. I can't count the number of times I've shredded myself on cable ties in an engine bay that have been cut off with a pair of side cutters leaving a very rigid, razor sharp point on them. Remember, be kind to "the next guy" because "the next guy" will probably be you...
Perfect 👌, my next target is to learn to build a full harness for my 1jz , 1 year ago I started to learn tuning with HPA, and now my jz is 410 hp 😎with 0 problems On the next target, I’ll be using the Haltech Elite 2000 and wire it by myself, of course with the help of The Great People Of HPA and Haltech ECUs❤️...wishing you and me the best of luck
Stay healthy! Maybe Haltech should issue a wiring toolkit complete with a manual describing different tips and tricks and enough connectors, wire ties, and wire tape -excreta that a person in isolation could wire a complete car without needing to make trips to get more stuff from a hardware store or specialty shops
The wiring god has graced us with his presence. Thanks for being so descriptive. I plan on doing an elite with the digital dash in my Evo3 sometime in the future. Would be super cool to run a new loom since the wiring is pretty old and hacked in my car now.
Built Ford tough... With Chevy stuff! No reason at all not to use an Gen III+ for any transplant. Currently prepping to put a Gen V LT in a Jeep CJ7. Great Content! Clear and concise explanation. Subscribed.
Ryan Basseri and Zac Perston did a monumental job teaching the course and they straightened out the birds nest logic. I am glad i took their classes. One question i have with haltec. Why not supply pre cut wire or a spool…like txl wire is cheap. This wire will confuse dumbos even more and if their plans are other way round they will chop these up. Everyone will have a pair of crimpers anyway.
This is a great start in this series as there 1 car I have that may need something like this at some point and another that needs wiring but not to this extensive
HP Academy for sure! Having my doubts about Haltech since he showed the pvc electrical tape. It's unbelievable how many so called 'professionals' solder wire connections and use electrical tape which will either fall off or become a really sticky mess when the car gets a bit warm. Also on RUclips you see it happening a lot on very popular channels.
Are we able to have not engine related lights on the IC-7? turn signals, dipped and full beam, alternator, oil pressure. Neutral switch on a bike, a nice feature to have for bikes that don't have gear position sensor but do have a pull down for neutral is a gear indicator RPM/Wheel Speed, but Shows N when in neutral
The LS, it's best if cars can be kept original. Of course compromise is necessary if the owner wants to drive it daily or on the track. Sounds like a fun project.
This is strange, on my sub feed had this haltech video on wiring and directly above it a live stream starting soon on ... auto wiring lol From a Dave to a Dave respect brother
I will be using an elite 2500 and a Haltech LS2 harness for my engine in my project. I was thinking about using a Deutsch bulkhead connector to run my wires through the firewall. Maybe a DRB connector or similar. Is there an issue splitting the harness to run through a bulkhead connector? I would run the shielding from the shielded wires to a grounded pin in the connector.
It all makes sense to me now... when you laid the cables out, I could see that it's no harder than changing the lines on a parachute (which I used to do regularly).
I don't have a Idle Air control valve in my Honda. I was wondering if I can run my alternator on the high side and switch it low as well by using the IACV wires from the ECU
So the internal MAP sensor is ok for up to 30psi & the external MAP sensor is for above 30psi? & will you be showing us how to plum the internal MAP sensor? Thanks 😊
Im looking at a conversion for a 90’s hilux. Most ppl ive seen seem to keep the old 4wd module from toyota to still control the 4wd functionality. Can a Haltech control the L/H 4wd functions? Or is this totally irrelevant? Just seems to me a bit band aidy. Thanks for the awesome vids guys!
Yeah but those were the same people that screamed about the Ford vs Holden super cars not knowing they are basically the same vehicles in every way except the cosmetic body
Haltech it’s not traitor, it’s just financially pointless. A Cleveland will achieve anything that LS will. That’s not a purist perspective, it’s just facts. By the time that conversion was completed, it has burnt a LOT of money. Money that would’ve built an even more insane Cleveland. Then there’s the engineers cert and rego. LS to replace Holden v8/Rover V8 et al, yeah no worries. Those engines just won’t make the power without bulk cash. But the Cleveland is still one of the best small blocks ever.
And? I mean I'd prefer to see the barra in there, but overall this would be less work as you don't have to cut the bonnet up to fit it as barras are pretty tall. Plus the owner probably wants V8 noises and to piss people off. Can do both with this
I would love to use a Haltech ecu. But the engine in my conversion uses 4 individual knock sensors in the “ignition cartridge” plus uses a cable throttle.
I'm looking forwards to this, but I must admit I still find wiring daunting, and all those tools spread out on the table didn't help;) This series looks to be educational and entertaining!

Awesome !
The thumbnail is funny
Hi Guys, you link to the Tesa 51608 tape, but Dave has a number on his bench - are you able to share more details of the others?
Gotta be rough only having 1 beer a day to keep count, but also probably why you're doing such a great job haha Cheers for the excellent watch there Dave! We're hooked - Taz.
You should see his wiring after three beers.... Coming up in Ep4!
I couldn't care less what engine is in the car. All I care about is Dave's wiring videos!
That's the spirit!
This man is definitely one of the best in the business!! Watching dave makes me wanna get down and dirty and rewire up my car

I like to hit the ends with a lighter to round off any edge.
I leave them razor sharp to punish anyone who goes near my perfect harness
I've found nail clippers to leave a nice edge on zip ties
Always leave some protruding as vibration can sometimes lead to them loosening and falling off.
Shredded yourself on your own cable ties? Haha. Just kiddin
It's great to see a video featuring Dave.
Really happy to see Dave doing videos. Many of us have seen Dave before and he's always been a great contributor. Keep up the great work guys. :-)
Top work sir, top work... a natural on the camera too 👍🏼
More like this please.
It's great to sit back in the comfort of my lounge, and see and hear a true professional share their wisdom.
Cheers team.
Thanks for the information on wiring a car . Very informative. You are a legend Dave get up the good work and stay safe.
Thanks Dave this is going to be an interesting series
Thanks Dave!!! (and Haltech marketing guys!)
You're welcome!
4:30 I also have been known to put things in the wrong hole when it's late and it's dark. 🤷♂

YAY! Dave rocks. Thank you for taking the time. Awesome insights.
Dave, perfect timing of a video series as I’m just starting to wire up my skyline. Thanks very much and keep up the good work.
fuxking brilliant! Just as I'm trying to learn more about wiring up things my self. Thank you for this vlog series!

These haltech lads have a real calm manner
Rauw!
Yet another great video from a great brand. This kind of help is useful to everyone
I'm putting my notifications on for this one, not missing one second... Dave is a legend
wish this was out when i wired my car! awesome work
Finally thank you 🙏🏽 was looking for something like this for a while

This is a great start in this series as there 1 car I have that may need something like this at some point and another that needs wiring but not to this extensive
Haltech and HP Academy are the only places I trust to learn about wiring from, seems like everyone else is doing solder splice hack jobs.
HP Academy for sure! Having my doubts about Haltech since he showed the pvc electrical tape. Love this - looking forward to the next episode!!
Great series Dave!
And can speak for the HPAcademy courses, their wiring courses were amazing!
Amayzin. I've just ordered the wires for my pinto - not quite at your level! Please keep doing these wiring vids, so helpful!
Really helpful, thanks Dave 👍
Great work Dave. Very interesting and educational so far. Love it.
Awesome series, cant wait for the next!
ooohh x series, ill be putting a haltech in my zk soon

We'll try and see if we can cover this topic in later episodes.
Just got my elite 2500 for my NA supra auto, and this is exactly what I needed thank ya
Probably won't attempt the tuning aspect though
Whether you like it or not, the ls does seem to perfectly fit the bay. Looks right at home
Thaks for this type content!
The LS, it's best if cars can be kept original. Of course compromise is necessary if the owner wants to drive it daily or on the track. Sounds like a fun project.
Thanks marketing guys. I really appreaciate this.

Great stuff enthusiast series is for me, I been watching Devin Vanderhoof and he is great but he is a racecar....one day I want to be a racecar to.
Just subscribed to your channel.keep it up.
Nice one
He is a very very helpful Dave ;-)
He's one of the best Daves we know!
Excellent video enjoyable.
Never mind the motor, that engine bay looks like it's been beefed up. Regardless, awesome video, cheers for the educational content. 👍
Scotty/Dave you blokes need hook up those legends at nugget garage with some of your gear for that supra build!!! Keep up the great content
I can watch this for HOURS !! THANKS MARKETING GUYS LOL😁😝💪👆

I don't have a Idle Air control valve in my Honda. I was wondering if I can run my alternator on the high side and switch it low as well by using the IACV wires from the ECU
great vid guys, would love to know which electrical take you guys recommend or use. thanks
Dave thanks for making the video and can you put a list of all the tools with part number and the supplies you using I would appreciate if you do

A few people I know need to a labon the tps n map sensor!!!! Love seeing burnt injector drivers lolololol
IF... the engine... FITS..
There is NO problem...
Nice video

Should an LS be in a Ford? Depends who is paying and what they want. I'm over those people that scream "traitor".
them's wise words:)
Yeah but those were the same people that screamed about the Ford vs Holden super cars not knowing they are basically the same vehicles in every way except the cosmetic body
LS was designed by a Ford Engineer, and the heads fit on a Ford block.

But the Cleveland is still one of the best small blocks ever.
I'm interested in swapping the engine in my car and was going to use a 550 elite. How easy is it to integrate that ecu with my stock dash cluster?
Purists - OH MY GOD HE PUT A TURBO LS IN THERE!!!!
Racers - OH MY GOD HE PUT A TURBO LS IN THERE!!!!
turbo barra would do the same job
And? I mean I'd prefer to see the barra in there, but overall this would be less work as you don't have to cut the bonnet up to fit it as barras are pretty tall. Plus the owner probably wants V8 noises and to piss people off. Can do both with this
A Clevo will match or beat anything an LS will do. Interesting vid, but the conversion is utterly pointless.
Can the haltech control a Haldex part time 4wd system?
What brand of tape do you use?
Usually a brand called tesa
Its great and very durable
www.tesa.com/en-au/industry/tesa-51608.html
@@haltech Sweet cheers! I'll go grab some now
LS is budget friendly
Heaps of parts options/availability
I would love to use a Haltech ecu. But the engine in my conversion uses 4 individual knock sensors in the “ignition cartridge” plus uses a cable throttle.
Saab?
You can probably just pair up the knock sensors in series
My eyes just read 'Pair of knockers in series'😄
I'm looking forwards to this, but I must admit I still find wiring daunting, and all those tools spread out on the table didn't help;) This series looks to be educational and entertaining!
Question where to buy that engine bay hole grommet. What is the company name that sells it?
Links to all the products used in this series are the bottom of this article: www.haltech.com/daves-wiring-vlog/
LS everything.
Hi guys, Where could i possibly buy the material tape from?
www.tesa.com/en-au/industry/tesa-51608.html
Can't knock the back seat of an ol' falcon.
They're plenty comfortable as a bed and other activities ;)
Indeed. The only thing that beats the old Falcon back seat in the back compartment of a panel van!
If it’s fast it’s fast, who cares what made it fast, people need to get over themselves sometimes
Where do o buy a wiring kit for my sr20de?
Contact our tech support, one of the guys will be able to help you out. support@haltech.com
It makes the wheels turn and helps the turbo make whooshing noises, then it belongs
On todays episode wiring with Matt Okine 🤣
😂😂
@ChrisHallett83 definitely true
Ls the world!
LS the world 😂
Neat and orderly workbench. Real repairman?
Sadly it didn't last long :(
2 weeks to wire a full car that crazy long
Should have barra the world with that one.. for sure..
Engine belongs in any car. Who cares what car. It just doesn't matter.
Is it true that formula one teams use all scotchloks and wire nuts on their race cars? I bet they have carbon fiber wire nuts.
What sort of car is it?
It's a Ford Falcon XD.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Falcon_(XD)
I need wires and connectors
the engine belongs in their because the owner paid for it XD
Who cares what motor as long as its fun, im waiting for someone to put a k24 turbo into an xd/e. Just to piss off the purists.
Great video.
I saw this thumbnail and thought it was Tavarish
Dave's like 6'7 there's no chance he fits across the back seat of an old falcon
That's why he gets crankier each episode....
"High Performance Academy courses very affordable" ?? maybe for Australia.
There's a discount code in the description;)
The world would be a better place if every pin and socket crimped like a full barrel deutsch Or however in the f you spell it.
Chevy engine swapped into a Ford, oh its right, its what God intended. On the 3rd day he swapped the LS into a ford, and God said, it is good.
I see a daniels crimper
What kind of Shit Box Car is that? Looks like lots of fun to drive with that LS
It's an Australian-made Ford Falcon XD, made between 1979 and 1982
Can you not buy the crimper tools anymore 😢
out of stock at the moment but will be back soon.
@@haltech awesome!
So much butt hurt for what is a simple bolt in/bolt out engine swap.....anyway it's not our car!!! the owner can do what ever they like with it.....
Dave you like spaghetti?
He prefers Nachos
@@haltech me too
