If I'm going to be staying a while, and I'm camping on sloping ground, I dig a small gutter on the high side especially . I've been camping in the Mistral in Franc and the Bora in Italy, and a gutter leading water away is a defo ! Great beginners guide. Keep it up.
In rainy conditions I would avoid spots in a ditch like that where water will ultimately collect. This might have some positive implications from a pure tactical perspective but who wants to fight wet ;-) I use the Basha in an a-frame configuration with a hint of plow point most of the time. I like that one the most as this has three closed sides and provides enough space for me, my gear as well as my little daughter and bushcrafter in the making. I bought the Basha to have a little more space especially for 1,5 adults than I would have under a Dutch poncho shelter (160 x 220cm). When alone the Dutch poncho still is my shelter of choice though 👍
Good video, I try where possible use the tent shape and again where poss put a ridge line up, living in Scotland it helps with hanging up stuff and with a couple of drip lines helps shed the rain ! 🙂

Great video! Could you do a video to cover what knots/set up of ropes etc you already have set on the basha. Taking me 30 minutes + atm the set up my basha (new to the game) and the knots etc are not holding up to well? Thanks in advance

Trying to get a basha atm in green that actually has hand sized loops in the middle so you can actually use it as an emergency stretcher. All of them say you can but don't have the loops 😠 Having actually carried people on a basha that was folded the wrong way, using the loop big enough for only one finger it is not very comfortable!
@Prepared Pathfinder that's all I could find to but like you I avoid camo since leaving. I decided to forget about the centre handle because you could still get by with it in an emergency (not ideal though) and the one I have is a lot lighter than the issue kit.

Instead of paracord have you considered using "Zing it (1.75mm)" or "Hen Steel"? Lighter, stronger than paracord and does not stretch. Together with Lineloc 3LL make alternative guylines that can be easily tensioned,.or loosened.

We set up a poncho hooch in the U.S. Army.
When selecting a spot for the setup, we use the four W’s:
Wind
Water
Wildlife
and
Widow-makers
You forgot the fifth W: wood (for firemaking)

I haven’t seen a plain green one, but you can get them in DPM, DDPM and MTP.

What type of knot are you using for your jungle knots?
Looks like a simple overhand knot with a bit of loop sticking out, spaced every few cm along the cord. 👍
