I am a new procreate user with very, very old traditional art skills, which I need to recover. I started to watch various tutorials, there are hundreds on yt, but you are the only one, who I started to follow. Your tutorials are simple, not too long, influencing and relaxing. Thank you very much.
Just popped over to this video to let you know that you have re-sparked my interest in art. I use to use watercolors growing up, have been using procreate for about a year and just recently got into making my artwork into cards, but not totally in love with the art I'm doing because I felt like I had changed my style for procreate. Your tutorials are so easy to follow and comforting. I'm going to try to get your brush kit on payday. Thank you!!!
amazing! throughout the entire process I felt like I was watching someone using some of my favorite traditional media like watercolor, color pencils and ink! . Great tutorial..Thanks 😊
omg I have never been so inspired or motivated. This is so beautiful in texture and I have never understood how to get the quality of highlight and shadow as you have just described. Purchased everything and can't wait to experiment. Thank you!!!
I can't believe this doesn't have more views yet, I love the way you explain things, you have such a cool, chill vibe that's really great for practicing a new skill. Also, your voice is so relaxing! This is a great tutorial, I'll have to experiment with this style, thanks for making this! Subscribing for sure!!
Lovely girl, style and tutorial! This is the best tutorial I have ever seen! Explained simply, beautifully drawn, best technique and the voice very professional! Thank you for the amazing tutorial! Subscribed😄
This was an awesome tutorial! I’ve done 3 drawings like this so far, but I had to come back and watch again because I couldn’t remember everything in one go. Super fun to draw in this style! I love it!! Thank you!
I watched this to learn more about Procreate but ended up also learning LOTS about drawing. Thank you so much. This my first from you (recommended from a fellow student at the Sequential Artists Workshop); will now watch any/every video you post. Excellent teaching style. By far my favorite RUclips teacher.
Aww thank you so much 🥰 I really enjoy making these videos. I have a tutorial about drawing simple people that you might like: ruclips.net/video/pweOdbfuQJc/видео.html
@@calvinatdrifterstudio8438 Nice to hear from you, Calvin. My plan is to watch one of your videos per day, carefully following along. That one will be up next. Thank you!
I really enjoyed this video. Happy you're revisiting people as a subject. I agree, this process should work with most subjects. I'm curious as to benefit of the entire silhouette being one color such as skin tone pink, then placing other areas (like hair and shirt) almost exactly on top? Does it pick up some of that base color or value when you go into Multiply mode?
Hi! These brushes and textures are something I sell on my Etsy store. The videos can be followed with your own brushes and textures, I think they are sort of universal, but the Etsy store supports the channel in a way that helps me focus on making good tutorials instead of just trying to get a lot of views. I'm truly thankful I don't have to paint weird stuff or create videos like 'do this now! Top 10 procreate...' 😂
When I use that brush with the same settings my color looks less like watercolor and there’s very stark overlap of color instead of looking washed and blurred like yours.
Hey! I just bought your brushes and this paper texture and I really love them 😊 Do you know if there's a way to use this paper texture with animation? I tried to animate some layers with the texture but it didn't work as it should have 😑 Thanks!
Hi Cavin.I loved the video. Opened a new style for me. Could you please tell me again the artist that you mentioned in the beginning of the video ? Tks.
I have a question. I bought your brushes and I try some tutorials, but I don’t achieve the same layer textures and colour paint textures, I think the problem is the watercolor paper layer. I have some “watercolor papers” but it rules like a plain layer not like a real paper, and if I erase some places I also erase the paper layer. Thanks
Great video, but I had to bodge it a few times, eg the feathering just ruins my picture, so instead I blended the shading manually, also the watercolour paper doesn’t seem to work, I had to layer it up with another different paper texture
Hi! Something might be going wrong - you can message me on Etsy if you want, you can attach a few screenshots there and I can probably see what's going wrong 😊
Calvin, When I make a selection and then click Hue, Saturation, and Brightness, I have a hard time telling what color my original was because there is this like, matrix or grid of lines that pops up around everything except my selection. I’ve played around and Google searched but can’t figure out how to turn that off. Do you have any suggestions?
Hi! Multiply will allow the colors from layers below to 'mix' with the layer. It think it looks more like what happens with traditional watercolor when you layer it.
Hello Calvin, I can’t buy these brushes on Etsy because it doesn’t work on my country, is there another way to buy it ? I need theses brushes can you answer me Please
Hi! I do this because I want the multiply layer to blend colors values with the layer below. This makes the color pallette less diverse and the overall color scheme looks more 'organic'
I have to tell you that for 15 minutes, this is one of the best procreate tutorials I’ve ever seen. Even compared to paid classes. Ty and good work
very true! Skillshare has nothing on you! 👍🏼🥇
i am 100% agrre with you .
I hundred percect agree!!!!❤
Me too🤓merci!
Agreed, its tutorials like this that make me think I can do art but I just know 3min into the tutorial im gonna want to snap my iPad in half 😅

it's easy to follow step by steppp. thanks youuu very muchh.
Thank you for teaching us the shading n lighting tricks. Great steps! I dont have to use more layer and brush.
Beautiful illustration. Thank you for a wonderful tutorial 😊
The clear layer trick 👌🏼
Excellent! The print tells the tale - totally amazing outcome.
Thank you so much :) This is great tutorial
Thanks Calvin. Loved the easy, non stressful instruction to do this style of painting with very few layers. I will definitely do this again.

Brilllant thank you so much!! How did you get the background texture and the watercolour brush package?

Why at 1:30 need to fill everything? this base color won't change the way on her clothes and everything?

I am diggin’ your music choice. Who is it?
It's 'bread' by Lukrembo :)

Hi domènec! Please message me on Etsy - we can exchange screenshots and stuff and figure out what's going wrong. Usually it's something simple 😊
Wow! So helpful!!! What kind of paper did you print it on?
Hi, I am unsuccess at clearing up with the trick you show around 2:27 sec.
Great video, but I had to bodge it a few times, eg the feathering just ruins my picture, so instead I blended the shading manually, also the watercolour paper doesn’t seem to work, I had to layer it up with another different paper texture

hello Calvin thank you for this tutorial really inspires me! I have one question please, what is the paper dimension for this tutorial? cheers!
Hi ☺️ thank you so much!
The paper is 4000px by 5000px. It's a about 30" inches tall when printed

What brush did u make it?
Hi, i am a newbie. I want to ask, what is the function of changing the sketch layer to multiply ? Thanks in advance

I STILL don't understand why you would apply the multiply blend mode just to lower the opacity...???
Hi! I do this because I want the multiply layer to blend colors values with the layer below. This makes the color pallette less diverse and the overall color scheme looks more 'organic'
Is this just an iPad???
CMYK or RGB?
RGB always 😁
Must agree to the positive comments. Your video is very informativ without being too long! Really enjoyed it!
