    • @Kingsonnyonit

Why do you think students should regret preparing for jee , its not just an exam , it also teaches us many things , you have to struggle and work your ass off to get a good rank in jee and there you get to know what is real hard work and that helps us to grow academically as well as at a personal level which these 'abroad going students 'will never experience , and getting into iits or bits is totally worth it cause there you are surrounded by the best minds in the country, and secondly if someone wants to experience studying abroad he/she can do it even after getting into iit or bits , so preparing for jee is not a waste of time unless you cant clear the exam😂😂 beacuse everyone cant put in the hard work.

unfortunately only 0.1% of students get anywhere this experience.
for most students, its just a pain, headache, struggle for 2 years of their lives, after which most will just end up in some private college, not because they didn't put in the hard work, but because there weren't enough seats.
there are many problems with indian system, and if you have the capability you should definitely try for abroad.

  • @cherub6958

I went through the comments below.. what i feel is that there is general lack of awareness in Indians especially in student life.. she did all of those since she was focused and was aware of the opportunity and the way leading to it. not many of the indian schools have student counselor to guide the students, parents are usually unaware of the opportunities, or there is no senior to advise. not everyone who studies at a foriegn university is necessarily smarter than one who studies in india or stays in india. Its all about awareness and funding (at some or the other point)
I know people who flunked in their primary and middle schools in India and traveled to US and used to tutor other students and top in high school. I also know below average indian students who did college degree abroad and are in the Big4 tech companies and made it big. its just that the struggle in india is more, but tables turn with awareness and a bit of funding

Just to clear things out, there are 37 full ride Pearson's scholarships awarded every year and you compete with around 40000 undergraduates (2019). Also it is evenly distributed between different majors and nationalities. Half of the scholarships are awarded to Canadians unfortunately. So if you are choosing a competitive stream like Computer Science, Engineering or Finance, and you are from a heavily populated country like india, your odds are next to impossible. You can always hope but certainly dont bank on scholarships.

@@surajirawat5988 Your school councillor needs to apply on your behalf. Unpopular opinion, but with that profile and some more achievements, you could apply to some lower ranked ivies and other top private schools in the US like Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke, Emory, Vanderbilt, John's Hopkins. You have a good chance to get atleast 50-75% scholarships and maybe even full if you have an outstanding profile. They have a higher global prestige and reputation due to large marketing of these uni's and their high endowment funds. The graduate salaries from these units are 1.5 times or 2 times the salaries of the Canadian counterparts, not to mention the lower value of Canadian Dollar when paired up against USD, due to which groceries, transport and other bills are more expensive than Tier 1 US cities except San Francisco, New York City, Seattle. Always keep in mind, a person with a student debt of $50000 and earning $100000 is in a much better position financially than being debt free and earning $70000. Also forgot to add, taxes in Canada are ridiculously high even after lower salaries.

I got to know about this scholarship recently but...thats why i really wasnt into extracurriculars..my grade at 10th werent good but in 11th when i found out about it i started to work on both my academics and extra curriculars.. I scored 97 percent in 11th grade(isc board) commerce stream. I learned new language korean and currently im working on spanish and japanese. Apart from that im a district level yoga gold medolist and during the pandemic i took charge along with my family to help people get food and essentials who cant afford it. Im an aspirant of u of t and of this scholarship. Due you think i stand a chance?
