Nothing like the sound of an E9 working, makes the hair on the back of my neck and my ears prick up every time I hear one, Especially when she's in an old series 2 lorry, top turn out lads

My god what a great video! A beautiful V8 Mack Superliner pulling a real good load. Love that V8 Mack sound. Too bad the E9 was discontinued.
Aussie's rule.Biggest and the best,from the UK.
U can tell that is a V8 by the way it sings. Great truck love the lights on the side

Awesome piece of kit mate, i wish we could get rigs like that in the UK.
that is a killer looking truck for sure!!
hell yea mack superliners are meaner than hell and i think they look good too!
i drove 1 of these old jiggers in QLD for clermont haulage carting coal from blair atol to the sugar mills.(plane creek, marion mill, racecourse mill, etc)most are 525-575(originally)with a 12 speed.heaps of balls, but a hard engine to keep clean(around the power tower)compressor walked off about 30k's from proserpine.JOY
Nice rig
sweet paint job
V8 macks are the best
Nice ride! Love the sound, and the paint job reminds me of an old '80-somewhat Volvo F12 called "Blue Warrior". She used to haul concrete floor sections in Norway for a guy named Arne Andersen. I'd be thrilled if someone could share any kind of footage of her!
Love the sound of those Mack V8s. They sound like a real truck should. Too bad you can only get a six now. And the new ones are gonna have Volvo engines! What's the world coming to?
And being a 1988 model, was that one of the bi-centennials?
Thats a BEAST..
Now Thats A BIG RIG!!!!
Hiya gm16v149,
I know of one of those Bi-Centennial SuperLiners - belongs to George's Haulage in Queensland - it's called Ludwig Leichhardt!!! Keep ya eyes open for her!
now to give hwoods01 a insight on heavy haulage.you wouldn't of seen in the us, a push me pull you.this is a heavy loaded truck pulling a load with a block truck(a truck with a wieght over the drives pushing aswell connected via a stiff bar)these trucks are normally towing a 96 wheel NICOLAS platform with a payload dolly.most trucks in oz with a conncessional permit can carry 23.5 over tri.s 16.5 over boggies but can not go over on steers(6 on single,11 on twin)so we can pull some(BIG )loads
i seen that truck in our workshop yesterday.... fuck its nice, i like the interior
26 wheeler thats soo mean
love it
Australia Post B Doubles are Low loader trailers, They move terribly slow up hills though, I passed on as I was driving down to Sydney once, Bloody hell it was going like 5 K's an hour
My god !! Hear that sound at 1:00, awesome video, do you have more taxast525 ?
This video ends at the best moment
the best dogs to roam the land
@huppypuppy Mack debuted with their 864 V8 a few years before Scania did. I remember having sources to cite but I cannot find the Mack source, the Scania website has the v8 date. Scania introduced their first V8 in 1969. Mack introduced the non turbo END-864 around the mid 60's. The only known Scania influence is when Mack licensed their direct injection combustion chamber and fuel system design for the END-673. That replaced the Lanova combustion chamber and fuel system design of the END-672.
thats neat a mack with a kenworth sleeper nice though
mack builds trucks , the rest build cabs and dashboards
Nice. The lights down by the fuel tanks, are they blue? Nice touch.
nice truck but those blue lights would get you a big ticket over here.
fancy truck
If they could fit the FH16's big 660hp engine to the Titan, we'd all be happy campers, wouldn't we? lordtaw, the Scania design had influences on Mack right from the start with the B-615 V8! If you watch my Tube vid, Golden Oldies Truck Club Truck & Tractor Show 2007, right at the end is the idle sound of a B-615!
Joe
hey mate nice mack! what the attitude adjustment on that?
Class rig!! Does any1 no what its pullin?
2 axle rigid = 18t gross
3 axle rigid = 26t gross
4 axle rigid = 32t gross
6 axle semi = 44t gross
STGO (higher tax) up to 150t gross and if the load is one lump, its up to the design weight of the trailer.
Nice V 8 sound, allmost same like Scanias V 8.
Macks better
I dont know the specs for the trucks.. They are old. But, I am very positive, since they are used in the eastern part of KY, that they would also have a 2 or 4 speed auxilliary tranny as well to get up some steep grades. Somewhere around Hazard KY is a old mack with a 3412.. You can tell which one, since it has 4 exhaust pipes. I'll get a picture one of these days when I run across it again.
hwoods01 that particular truck you speak of is an RD-800 Mack that was owned by the Addington brothers of Ashland Ky. The company was called Mining Machinery Inc.
hwoods01 I don’t think it was a 3512 I believe they had put a C 32 in that truck
3400's have the same setup.. The 3412 block is just bit longer than a 3408. You can order the same flywheel arrangements..
a 3412 weighs 3 ton by itself. you'd have a pretty hard time keeping a clutch up to it as well. probly just as hard of a time fitting it between the chassis rails of any highway truck to
mmmmmmmmmmm the smell of diesel in the morning
no danger said the lone ranger
im just not overly optimistic about the availability of a clutch that would suit a 18spd eaton roadranger input shaft and at the same time be able to cope with the torque of a 3412 at full throttle
I am wondering why this mack is running with a KW sleeper?!
Emissions had something to do with it!! The old E9/EA9 was not up to the ADR 80/02 emissions controls!
Is that a kenworth bunk on that Superliner?
YUP! Same here in the USA/Canada. around 1998 they just couldn't get the emissions down and discontinued it. Hell they never got it past 500HP here in N. America. I hear that Scania got their V8 design from Mack (thats why they sound the same). If Scania can get their thumping V8 to 620HP and Euro 5, I don't see why Mack couldn't do the same. But its all Volvo now so thats that.
I was simply reffering to he tractor - the truck - pulling that load.. Looks like an everyday truck to me. I was expecting something more, since some of the big trucks (old) around here have 3412's. Edwards house movers has a pete 379 w/600cat, double frame, 18 spd tranny, 4 speed aux tranny, brake jake & brake saver. Before it went out, Addington Resources in Ashland, KY had a 3412 mack set up similar to move a complete CAT 994 around the mines (over 200 ton).
how much torque does this beast have?
Is that the same truck that got the Mack of Australia truck of the month award?
Mack Power.....
How come they don't have em in the US?
I think with those kind of loads I'd like to have a 12V92 under the hood with six turbos and two blowers. Overkill? Yeah. But it'd get the job done, and fast.
wow
lone ranger(puff eliminators are not to be tampered with)LOL
this is not a normal truck?
That kinda sounds like a V8!
Does anyone know why the driver of this truck calls his rig "The Lone Ranger"?
But you guys don't have road trains right? Why do u need such big trucks?
Why not?
"The Rig is Moving a 140 tonne Pressure Vessell...." Read info !!! Normal truck? No way!!
that is a badass rig i wonder what's under the hood
E9
Hate to break it to you but the new Mack MP-10 is nothing more then a red painted D16 with a Mack logo on it. And yes it will be featured in the Titan in both Australia and US/Canada. Rated at something like 620 HP and 2080 ft/lbs(2820Nm). On the positive side the MP Volvo engines have held up better then the EGR nightmare the ASET engine was (EA7 with exhaust gas recirculation = total shit). Besides I heard a rumor that the Volvo D16 design was borrowed from the Cummins ISX.
One keen 525 ,,Shame Renault got involved ....
Cool ion-drive
My Uncle put one in - develops about 25,000 h.p.
only thing wrong with this vid it cuts out to quick. wana hear that noice for longer
that aint no scania that a mack mate
THATS RIGHT MATE
@zeroturn03 the constant pure black smoke will spew out of the pipes only if the engine is under 100% work load /watch?v=9PjQlcBVhRk is perfect example :)
typical of oz to blow all things out of proportion. why so many axle's why sutch a big truck? we mobe loads like that in the uk with things half the size and with half the fuss. Just shows how far behind they are in the us and oz
!keria invitarte a FANATICO DE LOS CAMIONES enfacebook!!
hit the nail on the head jon. if they wanted to, they could fit a pissy little volvo donk into a big ol titan no trouble. i agree that volvo thing wouldnt last long with you blokes. probly makes that 660hp between 2150- 2200. probly not enuf torque to pull a sailor of ya sister either
@mastercheff432 Mack E9 V8
you couldn't even do this in the US
cuz theres only room for one on every 5000 miles stretch of road? lol
Thumbbbbssss uuppp!!
Ifyour gonna call it heavy haul, you'd better have more than 3 axles on the tractor.
