  • I am comparing the (RDW) Martin Guitar Humidifier VS Dampit to see which one is better. Test results near the end of the video. The "Martin" RDW Humidifier is not affiliated with Martin Guitar Brand.

Thanks for sharing this info. I was just looking at both of these wondering if the "Martin" was any good.

Thank you for this comparison. But I believe the major flaw in the testing of the Damp-it is used in a sealed guitar guitar and the Martin is left out in the open. You never tested them this way which is the only true way to test them. Put a damp it in a guitar properly and properly and a Martin in a guitar properly (without any plastic sealing it) and then take the test readings. The reason I bring this up is I have an Epiphone Masterbuilt and my brother-in-law has a Gibson Hummingbird, both the same age mine has lived with a damp in it and his has lived with the open air style Martin. After 15 years mine is in beautiful condition. His has a crack all the way from one end of the F hole to the back of the guitar running under the bridge.. An open air humidifier is having to try to humindiify the entire room plus the guitar. Of course mine is based on empirical knowledge and yours is based on a scientific style style test. Thanks a for the review!

My "guitar" Damp-it I bought on line did not come with a sound hole cover, so I'm sure that's something to count on.

Also depends on the guitar size and how dry the wood is on each guitar. They will absorb moisture at different rates.

Where does the Martin humidifier go? Next to neck in case? I don’t know how that type of humidifier works.

Sorry for the later response but the Martin humidifier goes the same way as the Dampit which is inside the guitar hole. You clip it on the strings and let it dangle inside the hole. Make sure you squeeze most of the water out so it doesn't drip inside the guitar.
