This is where living in Florida comes in handy. It's rarely below 50% humidity in my house.
Thanks. The video answered my questions. I will look to purchase one for my acoustic guitar. The search is on.
We know a place! 👀
Thank you!
Really great information brother. Enjoyed your video. oNe LovE from NYC
Much love! 🙏
Nice video, very informative, thank you !
Thanks!
I have 6 or 7 guitars and have tried learning for over 40 years, I do have just one question. How does the moisture escape the guitar? It's not just plain wood, there are numerous coats of something there, only the builder of the guitar knows how many coats are applied at the end of assembly. Just to cut to the chase, how does the moisture get past all the numerous coats of material. My Takamine looks like it's coated with plastic on the back of the neck, shiny shiny, just how does the moisture get out ? It looks like the only place a guitar could dry out is the fret board, there's no shiny on the frets, or on the inside of the guitar, look inside the body through the sound hole, it seems like there is no type of sealer or anything applied to the wood inside the guitar.
I live in Southern California and after my Martin cracked within 2 weeks of bringing it home, and Martin refused the repair, I'll always keep a humidifier in my guitar. Oh, I'll also never buy another Martin.
Very good, straight to the point info, thank you. Worth pointing out one can OVER humidify guitars in their case too, makes em unnecessarily raise the action, especially on a 12.
That’s not an answer! HOW does it escape in the first place! We’re WAITING! 🧐
@@DionSt.Michael Do you have psychological problems or just having a bad day?
If the frets start to protrude can humifying the guitar help? Can any of these in case humidifiers do the trick once you can start feeling the frets?
Sometimes! The best way to remove sharp frets is a file that pretty much all local music stores will have and do for free! Just a few quick passes and it’ll be smooth! Don’t use just any file or you can damage the wood though, they make specific guitar fret files.
I purchased a soundhole humidifier for my Martin D28, and the problem is I cannot shut the case with it sitting outside of the strings.
Don’t they treat those wood before using them ?
Yes, but it can still dry out. Highly treated wood isn’t good for acoustics so they usually aren’t sealed super well.
Can I just use a humdifier that maintains the room at 45-55 RH?
Yep! That will work just fine.
do I Need to get a Guitar humidifier Living in Clarksville I'm Asking you Cause I Even Use one before ?
@@at68250 get a hydrometer, put it in your room where you store your guitar and look at you average humidity :) if it differs a lot from the recommended humidity then use a humidifier. Important note: winters and summers normaly have different humidity levels.
For the 3rd humidifier that you mentioned do you know where I can get the sponge?
Dollar tree
Can I use these type of humidifier inside a gig bag?
Yes! They’ll last longer inside gig bags, actually.
@@Boothemusic Thank you :)
So important...i bought at brand new Martin D21 in December, by end of Jan i had a big crack developing. I thankfully got a refund and switched to a 00028, bought these humidipack things
Hard lessons to learn!
@@Boothemusic big time tell me about it...i lost sleep 🙈🤦🏻♂️
That tiny sponge is a joke hahahaha
It’s so little!
Old wood shrinks regardless of humidity in the air.
As wood gives up its moisture with age it can shrink, but we can definitely delay that process with a humidifier!
Very gpod.
Thanks!
You’re showing all those humidifiers, but it’s too far away to see what what they are and the name of them you’re not mentioning the names or what they’re called and you’re too far away cannot see the name of these humidifiers
