Thats true. The Dampit has the potential to drip. The reason its so popular I think is because its been around for a long time. The Oasis is definitely my go to humidifier though. Thanks a lot for watching! Happy New Year!

Is it still going well? I read reviews saying the Oasis start to leak after a year or 2.

The clip is to clip it to string on sound hole cover, not guitar strings.

if you dry the rubber exterior thoroughly prior to insertion into the soundhole, it doesn't leak. still pretty worthless, imo. kitchen sponges in a snipped ziplock is cheaper and more effective. put it in the case and just remoisten once a week. always store your ax in it's case while not in use. hard case or gig bag, it don't matter, as long as it's completely sealed. throw a few flor de las antillas toro stogies in the case with everything and you'll have a nice, fresh smoke to enjoy later =)

I fully agree with you! I don't use the Dampit. I use plastic pill containers and cut NEW thin sponges that I cut to fit and roll inside and add distilled water and just pop a few of them inyo my ukulele and guitar cases with a hygrometer to control relative humidity. I've tried them all...and this one works the best IMHO :-)

The dampit is was is recommended by classical guitar makers that produce $15,000 guitars. I've seen pictures of oasis leaking and destroying guitars.. Just something to think about. I'm thinking about just using a sponge in a bag and putting it under the headstock in the case.

Update: I tried the sponge in a bag under the headstock in the case a few years ago and my Collings D1A developed 2 cracks on the back. I now use a dampit :-)

You spend all this money on an acoustic don’t cheap out and not get the proper humidifier your Guitar will crack if you live in an area that gets dry. If you squeeze this out you don’t have to worry about anything leaking

split the difference...use dampit for inside and perforated soap box for the case

Yeah I saw some reviews about them going bad, when I was just getting ready to buy one, and went with the Dampit instead, which Taylor actually suggests in their paperwork, for rejuvenating dry guitars.

it provides the guitar with humidity, so the guitar doesn't dry out.

What a worthless description. You should at least tell how it actually works. You use the hole cover to keep the humidity inside the guitar. You can tell when it needs more water because the sponge feels harder when dry than when filled with moisture. It can't drip for the same reason a sponge in your hand doesn't drip once you've squeezed the water out of it. If you have to guess on how to use something, don't review it.
