What a beautiful 1960 LR. Was 10 years old, in 1961 when I received my first "Dinky Toy" die-cast ever, this as a birthday present and fell in love with it right away. It's a light greenish open Land Rover 27d - No. 340 like the beautiful model in the vid with a 2 wheel trailer, same color No.341, and were my favorite toys and became so my oldest "Dinky’s" then I still have both today, and a few others of course, going to be 70 very soon and always kept that Kiddo feeling inside me......BTW really dig your Defender, I've been driving a 1999 4x4 V-8 Chevrolet Tahoe Vortec with 335 hp. in mint condition here in Mexico, and Central America, then fuel is still cheaper here, then in the old continent. I'm the proud owner of a 1957 series 1 diesel 86" wheel base and a 1965 series 2A diesel 109"wheel base station wagon. Both have been in the family sence new.
Land Rovers don't LEAK they're MARKING THEIR TERRITORY like a dog or cat saying this is my place !
Jeeps are famous Land Rovers are legendary !!!!

The 109 is in the shop being repowered to an Isuzu diesel. Parts are almost non-existent, and the old 2.25 diesel was a total disaster straight from the factory.
I love the way the slamming of the doors all sound the same regardless of which year they were made in. I have been driving Defenders since 1990 with the Army....and finally got my own MY13 Defender. A Defender is not just a vehicle, it is a way of life....as long as you know how to swing spanners on it....My wife hates the times when it is in the shed on the hoist making repairs, but wants to go for road trips in it....

I thought I was gonna wait one more week! What a beauties... here at the other side of the world getting the oppotunity to take a look at one of those is quite a head turning. And yes, you can get very taken care of cars in here. Now that I think about it, when I was a toddler somebody of my family used to have one... year? I was born in the 83... so... no idea, but it was a Land Rover. Like always.. great video. And for Steph: I felt the lost as if it was of my own. I'm not european, even not a catholic, never been in France, but some things have no nationalty and Notre Dame was a world treasure, still is. Thanks and a huge PURA VIDA!!!
Hello Berny and thank you for you kind message. Notre Dame . It was a shock to see that huge... I saw some modern renovation projects. Also they have a huge donation. Lucky no people injured except from the fire fighter .... Sri Lanka ... No words to describe ......

Relit my fire folks, drove alot of different models of rovers during my army days, owned a 300tdi disco sold it in 2002,currently have a v6 pajero 😲😲 might have to invest in a 110 as a souvenir as now out of service in UK.

great vid guys. I have a Series 3 88 here in Perth myself. She's not for sale. they are slow, bouncy, not terribly comfortable or pretty by modern standards, but they go and go and go. Beautifully conceived, made to last, simple to work on, reliable if sensibly maintained and used and will get you where you want to go, making every highway and byway an adventure. there's nothing better!!!

@@GrizzlyNbearOverland ,Stephi and Leigh .I have driven loads of Military Landrovers during 20yrs in the Military :) love them to bits :) I'm on my 3rd 4.7l Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 ,and you might of thought I'm from USA ,but No ,Suffolk ,England UK .For Leigh ,I have loads of cousins in Yeppoon bud ,and for Stephi ,visited 3 times and loved Saintes,Charente-Maritime

Just came across your channel, great stuff! Must say that I never guessed that you were French, your accent is very very good. Mine after more than 40 years here is terrible. Anyway good idea to put the French subtitles, you'll appeal to more people. Look me up if ever on the East Coast (Yeppoon) I will show you 5 Rocks and 9 miles beach (Byfield National Park). A+ Didier
you need 12 inch wide tires for sand they keep you on top and way way less stress on the vehicle

We owned an 80 series for years and Toyota owners don't have the same passion.
Owning a Defender is being part of an extended international family.
It's not just a car it's a lifestyle.
We never thought to wave like maniacs when another Landcruiser passed us. Hardly ever took notice.
When we see a Defender coming lights are flashing, we are waving and more often than not we'll stop to chat 😉
@@leighdearle5965 I agree with you mate. I had a discovery 2 and I was part of s community, but, though high investments and a lot of love and care, it always broke - but only when my family was with me. :-) So I went for a Patrol which, obviously, doesn't have the same personality and community as Defenders or any other Land Rover does, but it is very reliable...
What do call a gathering of Defenders on a beach? ......An oil slick?
