  • What does the population of the US look like? It might help to shrink it down a bit. Here's how the country would break down if it were a village of just 100 people.

    So the ultimate minority American would be an elderly Native American man who's the child of an immigrant; speaks Chinese or French at home; follows Islam, Buddhism, or Hinduism; lives in a rural area; doesn't own a pet or a cell phone; doesn't have a high school diploma, but has a bachelor's degree; makes at least $150K a year; controls 42% of all household wealth; affiliates with a third party; and didn't vote in 2012, but did vote in 2014.

    For those who are wondering about the religion thing:
    - Athiest = A person who believes there is no god(s)
    - Agnostic = a person who claims neither faith nor disbelief in God
    - "Nothing" = Not affiliated or has no views
    - Christian = Any religion that believes in the teachings of Jesus Christ
    I included the Christian one because people apparently don't know the meaning of Christian
    Just so you know, you shouldn't make fun of people due to their religion. It is a first amendment right to have freedom of religion. I am Christian (not going to specify) and I don't care about what religion you have, even if you're an atheist, however I hate atheists who like to shove everything in your face.

    America is a mixed bag, so classifications as in this video aren't so straight forward. For example, I'm technically Hispanic, because my father's from South America. His ancestors immigrated to there from Europe, and he's 100 percent Eastern European ancestry. I'm as white and European as any other white American, yet I'd also be considered as Hispanic. In addition, my mom was born in America. So, I'm the child of an immigrant from my father's side, but at the same time I'm at least third-generation American from my mother's side. There are lots of Americans who don't fit into neat and clean demographic classifications.

    Just to clear this up people: Atheist is not the same thing as 'nothing'. Nothing means you do not claim anything you're unbiased. It's those type of people who say "Maybe there is maybe there isn't." Atheist have a firm belief there is not a God and usually rely on science not religion. Please for the love of god look this stuff up and educate yourselves(all pun intended).

    • @EbuCallinav
      @EbuCallinav 8 лет назад +14

      Not really, being an atheist is the rejection of the claim that there is a god, not the assertion that there is no god. Think of it this way, I have a jar of jelly beans and there is either an even number of jelly beans or an odd number of jelly beans. Joe claims that he knows that the number of jelly beans is Even. Bob asks Joe how he knows this, and Joe just says that he knows it because he knows it. Bob tells Joe that he doesn't believe this claim due to a lack of evidence. At this point Bob is now an Atheist when it comes to Joes claim, but rejecting Joes Claim is in no way the belief that there are an Odd number of jelly beans.

    • @dalmationblack

    • @EbuCallinav
      @EbuCallinav 5 лет назад +6

      Atheist Definition - "a person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods."
      Agnostic Definition - "a person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God or of anything beyond material phenomena; a person who claims neither faith nor disbelief in God."
      Bob may be an Agnostic Atheist, they are not mutually exclusive, but we don't actually know enough about Bob's belief to make that assumption at this point. All we know at this point is that Bob lacks belief in Joe's claim, which under the actual dictionary definition of atheist, clearly makes him an atheist.
      Ultimately for the purposes of this video it all comes down to how you define yourself and what check box you tick, rather than dictionary definitions.

      I'd be fine if they were people who legitimately helped the country, but when you get people like sports stars it's pretty ridiculous. Our society values sports and entertainment more than we should. Not that entertainment is a bad thing, but they make way more money than they should compared to people like teachers, scientists, and even doctors (I know doctors make bank, but compared to people in sports or entertainment, it's not much)

    • @kyleboone9180
      @kyleboone9180 5 лет назад +1

      @Benedict Agpalo I'm not sure what scientists you're talking about, but the majority definitely don't make as much. I don't think teachers should make $500k a year, but I definitely don't think athletes or actors should either. They don't contribute as much to society. In my opinion, people educating the next generation, finding cures to diseases, helping with missions to Mars and other areas of space, and saving lives should make more than someone who can throw a pig skin well.

    • @generous_coconut
      @generous_coconut 8 лет назад +8

      Baconlightning Well, the terms Latino and Hispanic falls under ethnicity, not race. But this group is made up of various races which includes Amerindians (another word for Native American or native), Amerindian-Caucasians (Amerindian and white Caucasian European mixed blood; termed "brown Latino" or "Mestizos"), white Caucasians and a very small number of non-white Caucasians (people descended from North Africa/Middle East, South Asia-like Pakistan and Bangladesh, Central Asia-like those from Afghanistan and Kazakhstan). The largest racial group in the Latino/Hispanic ethnic group *I think* are the Amerindian-Caucasians (brown Latinos). But I wish people would stop using Latino/Hispanic because "Latino" derived from the word Latin, which is European and it doesn't "tell the story of Amerindians" in that term alone. Hispanic refers to those whose speak Spanish when there are non-white Asians (brown Southeast Asians) who speak Spanish. Would they, the non-white Asians, be considered "Hispanic" then, eh?
      Anyway, I will deliberately drop my delicious cookie onto the dirty ground.

      No no, when someone identifies as a Atheist or Agnostic they are making a very clear distinction, when someone saying nothing, it might be more along the lines of not following the religion while still believing in a certain god, which by default would make you NOT and Atheist.

      rjh00 that's agnostic. What don't you understand about that...
      -Agnostic: a person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God or of anything beyond material phenomena; a person who claims neither faith nor disbelief in God.
      -Athiest: a person who disbelieves or lacks belief in the existence of God or gods

      You are just scared by the fact that the group is growing. There is no difference. Atheist is an a theist he is basicallt anti religion because he doenst believe in any of the religion. An atheist would believe in god if there was evidence to support it but there isn't any and its the same thing with agnostics. They only call themselves agnostics to not offend religious people by saying I don't know "which is honest" but if there came evidence proving either way the agnostic would do the same thing as the atheist and change his/her perception on it right away given what science can tell us. And the nothing group is the same thing. They might call them selves christians/muslims/jewish in front of their family but they don't really believe nor do they care about it so they just mark in nothing/no opinion ie don't believe in a religion, otherwise they would have marked a religion. Atheism is on the rise weather you like it or not, you can try to create different terms for the same people to make them look smaller but its not gonna work. Hell there is more difference between different christians than there are between atheist/agnostic/nothing

  • @ggalpha3531

    What ethnicity is Spanic/Latino?!Spanic/Latino is NOT a ethnicity group, but a term related to LANGUAGE, Spanish language to be precise. Is there no native Americans in the USA?!! Only 1%?! And by native Americans I mean all those from the entire continent who lives nowadays in the USA, not just those few left from the US territory.
    You should add around 80% of all those consider Spanic/Latino because most of them are, from an ethnicity point of view, native Americans. Spanic/Latino is actually a term related to language, not a racial background.
    DNA tests never shows Spanic/Latino results, Spanish is language just as English, French or Chinese, and people may speak any language and be any race or mix of races no matter its racial background. Spanic/Latino can be a black guy from Cuba, a white one from Argentina, or more likely, a NATIVE AMERICAN FROM MEXICO!!

    atheism and "nothing" are the same thing and agnostic is not a legitimate position on religion since no one can be sure whether there is a god or gods. In reality, people that say the're "agnostics" are really just people who haven't decided whether they are a theist or an atheist.

      I'd imagine "Nothing" is generally just a "couldn't give a shit" category, it is probably self reported and they didn't bother to write what they believe in. "Nothing" is written in quotation marks indicating that they didn't choose any of the other options.

      1503nemanja you're just stereotyping atheists. I'm an atheist and I'm not militant nor do I antagonize thiests. hell, theists antagonize thiests! *cough religious wars*. So no, that's not a "worthwhile distinction".

    • @Gamerad360

      No, Atheist, Agnostics, and believing in nothing is not the same. An Atheist believes god/s don't exist, an agnostic doesn't know, or doesn't believe it's knowable, and someone who put nothing has no opinion on the matter.

    • @dalmationblack

      Atheist is someone who doesn't believe there is a god. Agnostic is a position on how sure you are, it actually makes no claims on your belief. Being 'nothing' makes you an atheist because all it means is someone who is not a theist (theist means you believe in a god)

    • @codyross233

    • @seannu1919
      @seannu1919 8 лет назад +5

      Wrong. Agnosticism has to do with knowledge and Atheism has to do with belief. At its core we are ALL agnostic. We all have no idea whether a god exists the only difference is whether we believe in such.. Atheists do not believe one exists and Theists believe one exists. So you are either an Agnostic-Theist or and Agnostic-Atheist when it comes to the belief department. I guess those who choose not to tack on the second part of the label just refuse to think and answer the question about whether in their opinion do they believe a god exists. I'm not sure what would make someone not have an opinion on a topic even if not spoken publicly but remaining in the middle seems rather odd.. It's like asking yourself the question 1+1 in your head and deciding not to make an attempt at answering it lol.

    • @DaltonHBrown

      Cugru Cubing the definition doesn't matter. they claim they are Christians, but that doesn't make it true. Most, if not all. protestants will tell you they are cults. They have very different doctrines than the rest of Christendom.
      Mormons for instance believe Jehovah lives on the planet Kolob and has literal sex to create spirit babies. this isn't contended. Google it, it's the first thing that comes up.
      Jehovah's Witnesses will excommunicate those who join even a different church outside of their own "denomination"(cult). they also teach Jesus isn't God, or at least that He isn't part of The Trinity.

    • @biscuitcubed2804
      @biscuitcubed2804 8 лет назад +4

      I can't speak for Jehovah's Witness, but you don't have all your facts right.
      I personally haven't heard this claim. I've always understood it as God created "intelligences" which were then transformed to spirits (those that would eventually become those inside of us). I'll have to do a little research on the matter.
      The fact that the trinity doesn't exist as taught by most churches, is taught in both churches (as far as I know it's the same in Jehovah's witness, but I don't know much of their doctrine, so that may not be correct). What we DO believe is there are three separate beings, God the father, Jesus Christ the son, and the holy spirit. They are one in purpose, but not the same literal beings.
      I don't really want to get in a Theological debate in the youtube comments, as they always turn into a shouting match, no one ever convinces anyone of anything, and they are completely useless. Just wanted to set what we believe straight.
