Thanks for this look-back. Mine (16gb) is now permanently usb'd (as the Bluetooth doesn't play well with non-apple devices) into my car head unit as its main source of music (1200+ songs) and lots of mpeg4 music videos that look surprisingly crisp for a small screen. A good buy in its day.
I daily drove one of these last year, it is really good apart from the audio quality. It's thin, small, light, has Bluetooth capability, its just great. Only ditched it because i got tired of not legally downloading my songs and managing iTunes

Yup. I'm fed up with streaming services, monthly fees, notifications and privacy issues. Modded an iPod classic 5.5 and missed it with music and audiobooks. Loving it.

Nah, at least 256/512GB the prime costumers could be audiofile, so they like their music in the best quality. And for apple it means ALAC files. Which are pretty heavy.
I've been using Sony walkman nw-a35 mp3 player for 6 years now, and I have a flip phone that doesn't have internet or the ability to play music. I see people say that the file management is tiring, yes, but don't think it stops me from using mp3 players because managing my music is like managing what makes my soul. I see it as a very important act.

I love my 7th gen iPod Nano. It's easy to pocket. It's small & very thin, yet has touchscreen & phone-like inputs. It's like having a micro-iPhone/large non-fitness Apple Watch just for music. I wish Apple had continued with this, or at least someone picked up the torch. It's a beautiful form-factor.
I'm using a friend's iPod Nano just because he passed in 2021 , sad stuff but this tiny player is perfect for either driving with an aux cable or a perfect player for the workshop or your daily run 🎉 it's easy to load, easy to run and Apple pretty much thought of everything when they made this 7th Gen iPod ❤
I am still using an ipod nano 5th gen until today. I never stopped using it. I find it just a lot more handy when I do my workouts, not having to always bring my phone with me, and I keep listening to the same bangers anyway. But I still use streaming service when Im at home or at work.
this is the first ever smart device i could call my own and i loved this thing, the idea of a screen you could touch was so new to me and this was mindblowing
if you want to fulllly detox, and still be able to discover music. I recommend going to record stores and finding music you like through CDs. You'll be able to rip those songs from the cd into your computer and be able to port them into your iPod nano or any mp3 music device.
My first proper device was the 5th gen iPod Touch and I always loved the Nano. Never had or experienced one but this generation of nano just does something for me
WHAT. I clicked on your video. Watched it till the end. I scrolled down to leave a thumbs up, thinking I'll see a channel with around 300-400k subscribers. How do you only have 667 subscribers? I hope your channel blows up, you really good.
I still have my 7th gen. It's so cool and modern for being as old as it is. Wish Apple would have made apps for it, kinda like how smartwatches have nowadays. If someone could get custom firmware on this thing, it would be so much cooler. Awesome video man!
I purchased a 7th gen. iPod touch back in 2020 for this reason. To have something small and light for my music, and not have to have my iPhone hooked up to my stereo when I have people over, but still be able to use all kinds of music streaming apps, bluetooth connectivity etc.
Bought the original iPod Nano when it first came out. Then Apple had the trade-in program because I believe there was a battery defect, so got the 7th generation nano in exchange. Still use it to this day. Great device, and works great with our older vehicle's entertainment system (wired connection, so searchable, displays album art, playlists, etc ) before Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It's old school, but modern enough to still be useful/convenient. Kinda bummed I didn't get the latest iPod touch. Kinda pricey now on eBay, etc.
Yea the values are shooting up now that they got discontinued. But that’s awesome that you still use your nano, i know some people load it up with music and just leave it docked in their car forever!
I still use it from time to time (with broken screen) when I go cycling. Mostly used in shuffle mode since half the screen is not very responsive but it gets the job done, recently I downloaded my Spotify library (not very legal of course) and used the 16gb. Still a great piece of enjoyment 👍
I just ordered one in 2024 from Amazon. I always wanted one for last 10 years but I couldn’t afford one then. Today, after several years the product had been discontinued, I got my IPod. My dream had finally come true and I am loving it.
Got one last year and I'm loving it. I did use it with my Airpods 2nd Gen and they work fine. Removed them and instead use my Gravastar Sirius P5 earbuds instead for the Nano. I switch between the iPod Classic 5th Gen and this Nano, both of which I love.
It's funny you uploaded this, I just dug out my Nano 7 a few weeks ago haha. I work from home and it's annoying having my music stop when I get a call. So I paired my Nano to my speaker and now I can enjoy my music that I still buy from iTunes while working :D Honestly, if the Nano didn't have Bluetooth, it would've aged poorly.
I bought mine back in 2006 or 2009. It still works till this day and I still use it. Nothing like listening to uninterrupted music. No phone calls, notifications, alarms- nothing. Just music.
The screen is great for watching videos on a 12 hour train ride! With CDs now dirt cheap at yard sales and thrift stores loading up an iPod with you favorite music is affordable. I am tired of having my music disappear from streaming services. Owning music it means that I can always listen to it! And a 16 GB iPod can hold a LOT of music (but not as much as my 128 GB 5th Gen iPod!)
I have the Ipod Nano 7th Gen and I use it all the time at the gym. I have over 100 songs on it but I have to admit having apple music with unlimited use for a subscription is great, but if they ever came out with the 8th gen with apple streaming and i am on board. Whenever I use my ear pods which connected immediately to the nano I still have a sentimental connection to the nano. In addition there are always several people at the gym that will see it and come over and want to hear what I am listening to. Battery lasts a week or more. I am never getting rid of the nano!!!
Most of the batteries in the old ipods now are screwed. Probably the best thing to do is learn how to replace them. Other than that they are a truly great product
my best geek sports product, what a classic nice way to get your ipod nano, leave your phone at home, start jogging with your bluetooth headset on, daaaamn !!i love it wouldn't change it.
Did you see the new (ish) patent Apple filed? It's really just a drawing, but it's kinda crazy looking. Looks like the size of an Airpods case with a screen possibly the size of a 6th gen Nano. I think Apple is really doing a disservice to some by nixing the iPod altogether. I really wish they'd come out with another Classic, but I doubt that will ever happen. I have a couple Classics that I recently fixed up and got working properly again and, man, it was fun. Having all my music in one place while being detached from my phone is just an awesome thing that's severely underrated by too many people. The act of ripping a CD, curating playlists from those ripped CDs, loading them onto the iPod and plugging in some headphones is just an experience that will never be matched by Spotify. I'm honestly enjoying the act of sitting quietly listening to music again. It just feels different with an iPod.
I have one of those iPod Nanos that had a camera. I bought the songs I wanted and downloaded them to play them in my 2010 Mercedes natively via the 30-pin cable in the glovebox. A little Mercedes logo even pops up instead of the charging symbol when I plug it in. But the reason I did this was that when I wake up and go to the office, I don't feel like using the Bluetooth adapter that I have for my phone. Just start and go with my tunes ready. Good video. I have been wondering if this existed but was not putting the energy to look.
Yk I just made a short video on the very nano you have! It's awesome that you still make use of your nano tho, I've always been surprised by the in-car integration of old iPods
I’ve had 5 of these in the past few years. People would often be intrigued with them, a couple people even bought it right out of my hands! I learn Japanese so having a separate device and earbuds are vital for passive immersion listening throughout the day without having your phone distract you. I just bring my Apple Watch cellular and leave the phone at home!
Was not expecting the number of your subs to be this low, keep it up! I was so happy to see songs in your playlist that are not super well known but I too enjoy them- recognized the album cover when you scrolled through your songs (eg Lizzy Mcalpine, Zeph or NOTD).
I have songs in my library that are not available on any streaming service. That is why players like the iPod are still relevant for me and I suppose for many other people. There are other players that sound better by the way, like the Sony walkman. What I would like to see one day is the click wheel back in a new dedicated music player.
I have an old ipod.. I love it, I don't have to pay anything to listen to music, no ads, and no app to tell me what I can and cannot listen to (Spotify regularly deletes songs I have in my playlists, I do not know about other apps tho)
It only works with Bluetooth headphones that have independent volume levels. It the headphones share the system volume level then they will be too quiet. I think the Jaybird Vista 2 might work.
I got one because I love the idea of just putting my own music that I own into it and it's pretty great for what it is because sometimes I just want specified songs without ads and draining my phone and I found it perfect for me
THE NOSTALGIA I LOVED MY IPOD NANO SM I HAD THE BLUE ONE TOO 😭 I remember I'd go around showing it to my friends bc it was the closest thing I could call to a phone. I still have it today with all the old songs I downloaded onto it
Yep! The main background track I used for the first part of the video is “Photosynthesis” by Lagua Vesa. If you want to know any of the others let me know!
As someone that had many iPods, The best nano was the one that was a small square screen with a clip on the back. It was so functional. This one was good but I hated they went back to this format after the tiny one with the screen.
I won one of these at a conference for a scavenger hunt. I take it with me to sporting events so i can listen to radio call of the game in real time. The radio only works with wired headphones since it uses it as an antenna.
i have ipod nano5 for high school life in china 🇨🇳 i bought used in 2021 the juice of school life that makes me feel relax when at school In 2023 i think ipod feeling is unique for litsening music!
I am going to be getting MP3 player that is very similar look to the first iPod classic which they are bluetooth my question is if I'm able to use my AirPod onto Bluetooth MP3 player.
i had /still have one. Won the ipod in a contest. It was great for me as a broke college student in 2012... Didnt have a smart phone/data plan. Small, bluetooth, battery life was good, i was heavy usage, long walks to campus, work outs , runs. But yeah streaming is a must these days. Im not going back to mp3 and itunes syncing again
If anyone is looking to get a dedicated music device with a touchscreen, wifi, lossless, and streaming capabilities you should definitely look into fiio players, perfect for anyone who doesn't want to give up their music collection (:
Great video and editing man! I really want to get a Nano 7th Gen, ever since I was kid. I currently daily drive either my iPod Mini or my iPod Touch 5th Gen.
this is my daily use ipod , ngl its one of the best ipods i have atm, i use it for about 2-3hrs per day from monday to friday and maybe i might chagre is on thursday , battery life is great and it has bluetooth which is a very good plus point!
4:32 oh noo! What a hassle! Wambulance come get me. I hate streaming because of notifications. The only place I actually use radio through Apple Music is at work on a laptop connected to my JBL speaker. I only use it on my phone for finding music I want to buy. I can tell you didn’t grow up in the era of iPod. If transferring music to them sounds like a chore to you then you definitely didn’t live the days of the hype. I was in HS when the iPod Video was released and got for Christmas 2005!!! Damn I was a badass with 30GB in my pocket for music.
I still have the 7th gen iPod nano, I don't know where it went though since its probably in a box someplace. But yeah with smartphones now I don't see the need to actually use a dedicated music player.
i just moved back to an ipod nano 3rd gen recently to get off of my phone lol. i missed buying music, downloading it, transferring it over, and the whole process. its like with records, or CD players there was an immersion to listening to the music. you had to sift through your physical collection, remove the media from its casing, pop it in, connect your headphones, and then you get to enjoy your hi-fi tunes. idk maybe i miss the almost ritualism of listening to music.
I know stuff like the apple watxh kinda replaces this type of device... but I still wish apple would make a modernized version of this device with say Spotify or even Apple Music
I found mine a few months ago in a box … boy have I forgotten have small that thing is. I'd soooooo wish it had more than the 16 GB space, it would be soooo usable still.
I did a 3 month screen fast, meaning no social media, RUclips, television, gaming or internet (except for work) while also downgrading to a basic flip phone. I wanted something that I could load audiobooks on and my music for working out and that didn't have access to the internet. The nano worked incredibly well for this. Apple needs to make a iPod nano 8 for the more minimalist types.
I got one for my SO back in the days, she still uses it but the battery dies pretty quick, anyone know a good place to get it replaced? Apple would charge 95$cad...
You need to have the actual mp3 music files on your Mac first, and then plug in the iPod with its cable. It should show up in Finder on the Mac or in the Music app, for there should be able to sync the music with a button
Honestly, I wish they still made these ... This is a great music player if you want to give one to your kid who just isn't ready/mature enough for something connected to the internet ... which my little sister isn't. I'm going to get her a modern MP3 player made by Sandisk for her birthday or Christmas, but I'm definitely sad I can't give her an iPod instead without spending a rediculous amount on Ebay or something.
personally, i much prefer an ipod for listening to music or a podcast. i much prefer having diffrent tech do things really well then just 1 device that does everything just meh. the sound is better, its faster and snappier, it lasts much longer, way smaller. etc.. some stuff like voice recording, i dont mind being meh tho
as a gen z I’ve just become used to an “all in one” device for all my media needs. definitely interested in trying out the alternative of having more dedicated and higher quality devices for specific tasks.
brand new is gonna be hard since these guys were discontinued more than 10 yrs ago. i would try Facebook marketplace or your local classifieds, or ebay.

Thank you!! I’m amazed that this vid is doing so well months after release. Glad to find another fan of under-the-radar indie music 🎶
I have songs in my library that are not available on any streaming service. That is why players like the iPod are still relevant for me and I suppose for many other people. There are other players that sound better by the way, like the Sony walkman. What I would like to see one day is the click wheel back in a new dedicated music player.
Used to onwn one... And to be honest... I'd still buy an ipod today. Love em
I have an old ipod.. I love it, I don't have to pay anything to listen to music, no ads, and no app to tell me what I can and cannot listen to (Spotify regularly deletes songs I have in my playlists, I do not know about other apps tho)
sadly it doesnt support airpods pro 2. I have the 7th gen nano but cant use with bluetooth
It only works with Bluetooth headphones that have independent volume levels. It the headphones share the system volume level then they will be too quiet. I think the Jaybird Vista 2 might work.
have you tried upgrading your Airpods pro 2's firmware? They say they work!
maybe the circle on home button means like the app look since they circle apps
i think you are right!
I got one because I love the idea of just putting my own music that I own into it and it's pretty great for what it is because sometimes I just want specified songs without ads and draining my phone and I found it perfect for me
It’s great for this specific case! Spotify ads are so distracting
@@isheeppro and using RUclips is so annoying as well because it drains the battery so quickly
@@isheepprounless you pay for premium lol 😂
THE NOSTALGIA I LOVED MY IPOD NANO SM I HAD THE BLUE ONE TOO 😭 I remember I'd go around showing it to my friends bc it was the closest thing I could call to a phone. I still have it today with all the old songs I downloaded onto it
Omg a kid in my elementary school had an iPod nano with the click wheel and they were like the coolest kid at the whole school 😂
Nostalgia !! Could you please share the name of the background track?
Which gen was it?
6th gen! Yes I want to get my hands on that one with a watch accessory ⌚️
I won one of these at a conference for a scavenger hunt. I take it with me to sporting events so i can listen to radio call of the game in real time. The radio only works with wired headphones since it uses it as an antenna.
Love the 7th gen nano. Still use mine :D
i have ipod nano5 for high school life in china 🇨🇳
i bought used in 2021
the juice of school life
that makes me feel relax when at school
In 2023 i think ipod feeling is unique for litsening music!
It is definitely very unique to still be carrying around a dedicated mp3 device!
@@isheeppro true nano!
With bluetooth 4.0 drain battery really quick. Took me ~2.5 hrs on bluetooth. And 2 days with aux
Not tried one of these but have several classics 5th gen 7th gen that I've added bigger batteries and sd cards to increase capacity
do the lightning earbuds work with it?
I tried, but it does not
I am going to be getting MP3 player that is very similar look to the first iPod classic which they are bluetooth my question is if I'm able to use my AirPod onto Bluetooth MP3 player.
You can use regular AirPods or AirPods Pro gen 1. Gen 2 or later I think have issues
@@isheeppro yea I was able to pair them with no issue at all took a while to pair them.
i had /still have one.
It was the only iPod I ever owned and I loved it!
You deserve more subs. Amazing video! I love your editing and filming style.
Thanks for the kind words! 😁
If anyone is looking to get a dedicated music device with a touchscreen, wifi, lossless, and streaming capabilities you should definitely look into fiio players, perfect for anyone who doesn't want to give up their music collection (:
Fiio players are great!! It is the best of both worlds
Great video and editing man! I really want to get a Nano 7th Gen, ever since I was kid. I currently daily drive either my iPod Mini or my iPod Touch 5th Gen.
Thanks!! Nice to see someone else keeping the iPod trend alive 😄
Today I tested my AirPods Pro 2 connected to my iPod nano 7. There seems to be no sound, but there is sound from other Bluetooth devices.
I think there are reported low volume issues with AirPods Pro for these iPods
@@isheeppro 1 really low volume, but 2 really can't use in iPod nano 7
@@dannyye7708have you tried upgrading your Airpods pro 2's firmware? They say they work!
I used one of these babies until 2020/quarantine. Definitely thinking about going back to it, tbh - although idk if I have too much music now :/
this is my daily use ipod , ngl its one of the best ipods i have atm, i use it for about 2-3hrs per day from monday to friday and maybe i might chagre is on thursday , battery life is great and it has bluetooth which is a very good plus point!
Saw a 7th nano at roughly ~$60 which is apparently in great condition and working just fine, is it a good deal?
that’s a pretty good deal! does it come with the box and accessories?
@@isheeppro headphones and charging cable
Name of the background song. Its wonderfully produced to test audio devices!
Edit: the first one
If it did support the latest AirPods + Spotify, I would definitely go for it. Zero distraction at the gym, amazing!
An iPod nano made with Apple’s current materials & manufacturing techniques would be really interesting.
I still have the 7th gen iPod nano, I don't know where it went though since its probably in a box someplace. But yeah with smartphones now I don't see the need to actually use a dedicated music player.
Great job, 835 now, 2M later! Wish you the best
Thanks man! Honestly shocked at how well this video is doing! Glad to see so many people like this type of content 🙏
@@isheepprojust stay consistent and the views will come. Patience my friend 🙏🏽
What I don't understand is why they added video support but no 32GB option.
I bought a red 7th generation iPod Nano in December, 2016, which I still use to this day.
Nice to see that iPods are still alive and kicking!
I love this iPod, especially when I wanna have offline time. A camera on top would be absolutely Premium!
What you term a major drawback is a major PLUS POINT for many users. I, for one, want to own my music - I bought it, I own it!
That’s fair! The subscription vs the purchase of music definitely both have their upsides
i just moved back to an ipod nano 3rd gen recently to get off of my phone lol. i missed buying music, downloading it, transferring it over, and the whole process. its like with records, or CD players there was an immersion to listening to the music. you had to sift through your physical collection, remove the media from its casing, pop it in, connect your headphones, and then you get to enjoy your hi-fi tunes. idk maybe i miss the almost ritualism of listening to music.
I still use this after 10 years. I prefer a separate device and have even bought a backup device.
I know stuff like the apple watxh kinda replaces this type of device... but I still wish apple would make a modernized version of this device with say Spotify or even Apple Music
That would be sick! But unfortunately apple will never do it 😢
I’m looking for an iPod 7 too but I don’t know where to get it ?
Does bluetooth have a different audio quality to aux jack on this ipod?
And what about the many other audio formats, does the iPod nano have support for the mp3 files?
Yep mp3 works! But you have to upload music via iTunes
I found mine a few months ago in a box … boy have I forgotten have small that thing is. I'd soooooo wish it had more than the 16 GB space, it would be soooo usable still.
I bought a 6th gen nano a few months ago for a project of mine, fun fact it’s radio is delayed
i found my dads old one but i cant get it to start is there any recommendations on what to do
I did a 3 month screen fast, meaning no social media, RUclips, television, gaming or internet (except for work) while also downgrading to a basic flip phone.
Hmm for that price I’d just track down a used one on the classified honestly. I know these nanos are notoriously hard to get into
@@isheeppro the used ones battery will probably be in the same condition :(
Can you please help me. I’m trying to download music on my iPod nano 7th gen, but I can’t sync on my Apple Music. Why? Please help me.
You could try local classified ads like CL or FB marketplace. I found all my iPods there, cheapest was $15 for a nano, $20 for a mini 💸
personally, i much prefer an ipod for listening to music or a podcast. i much prefer having diffrent tech do things really well then just 1 device that does everything just meh. the sound is better, its faster and snappier, it lasts much longer, way smaller. etc.. some stuff like voice recording, i dont mind being meh tho
as a gen z I’ve just become used to an “all in one” device for all my media needs. definitely interested in trying out the alternative of having more dedicated and higher quality devices for specific tasks.
where to buy one of these, i am looking to buy one
Where can I buy a brand new iPod nano 7G?
brand new is gonna be hard since these guys were discontinued more than 10 yrs ago. i would try Facebook marketplace or your local classifieds, or ebay.
Hi, where can buy ipod nano 7th gen. Badly needed. Your reply would be a big help. Tyia!
Hey! So I buy my iPods used off of Kijiji (Canadian only) or Facebook marketplace. Pretty cheap, just search iPod and they have a bunch. If you are not in Canada try OfferUp too!
I have the entire 'iPod Nano' line. My favorites are the 3rd (unique landscape), 5th (VGA camera!), and 6th (OG iWatch! lol).
Oh yes the iWatch iPod! One of my friends had one with the wrist band and everything
