    Enjoyed the different camera angle. We could see more that way. Kind of a weird thing to say maybe, but I also didn't feel like I was a trappies Artists swinging out over the ocean quite so much... What a great clip, in the UK Halibut is expensive at £25 to £30 a kilo that's $32 to $38 a kilo.
    This one trip netted these guys £13.590 or $17.214.
    I noticed on the American fish market Halibut is $47 a kilo or $20.99c lb

      I think I did on this last trip we went on, you'll see the footage at some point! We'll give the area a little break, usually we don't return for at least a few weeks. No idea how long it takes for fish to swim back in, but usually can reset in a spot the day after for half the number.

    Man I felt for you guys after the epic starfish haul earlier. Good to see a few good fish turn up on the last set. I did like the long form yesterday my time good to watch over a bite to eat and while working on some recreational fishing gear. I was wondering if the new longer ganions were responsible for more starfish. Might be interesting to run a set or two alternating shorts and longs to see if there is a difference. Love how you work together. Cheers n best wishes from Oz

    • @EISAlaska
      @EISAlaska  Месяц назад

      Sweet! What you going fishing for? Good question on the gangions. If there are starfish they'll hop onto anything relatively quickly, the longer leader doesn't change much. We are curious how it would work to attach a wooden bobber to the hook to float the hook off the bottom.

      @@EISAlaska I live in Tasmania and fish for food and fun. Squid, king George whiting( not related to your cod species) snapper and yellow tail kingfish and black bream. I fish both baits and lures currently running a wilderness systems tarpon 120 kayak. I also get up to the lakes and rivers to fish brown and rainbow trout.
      Interesting idea with the floats, I would look at the size and wt of the baits your using and use the plastic from float line, floats attach them 150-200 mm back from the hooks. Try a couple of sets with 20 hooks set 1 in 3 and look at the numbers. Because your videoing anyway you can count starfish empty hooks and fish species your happy to keep. Might also reduce the number of skate too.

Halibut trips we can stretch up to 5 or 6 days. I'd say at minimum 10 days. Going forward, since we'll be done with the big project, we plan to be out a lot more, too.
