It’s nice to see Father and Son working together like a well oiled machine!
It's father and son, not Father and Son.
@@tdeaux settle down
@@christopherw4527 Yes sir.
@@christopherw4527 I was only trying to point out that there are billions of fathers and sons but only One Father and Son. That's all.
@@tdeaux Oh. The long way to say "Jesus is Lord"?
This is the best angle of the camera
Great feedback, thanks!
It’s kinda amusing when I first started watching your videos I thought your Father and you were brothers!
So did I.
Hehe, yeah, we get that a lot. 😃
I really enjoyed seeing the equipment on the boat and how it works was very well explained!!!🙂✌️✌️👍👍👋👋
Thanks! Glad it was informative.
Really appreciating the camera angle you have been using for the past few videos! Thank yo so much.
So glad to hear that. Thanks, John!
The detail in information in this video was great.😊
So glad to hear! We try to share as much as we can. Thanks for commenting, guy!
I agree.
I love some halibut. Caught a few when stationed at Adak Island AK.
Memories,I grew up on Kodiak Island Alaska, fished halibut, differnt salmon, crab, even did a time on M/V Patricia Lee in bering in early 80s,dad opened airport in 1967 when I was 4,grew up around the Floyds, petersons, dawsons etc,60s-70s was a good time to be a kid in kodiak.later at 23 joined U.S Coast Guard and stationed on kodiak 2 times looking out for fellow fishermen.Last names NORTH lol,so for those that remember it was a great upbringing.
Awesome trip. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for commenting.

Perfect work and video Thank you from the north of Sweden
Another great video like usual. and don't worry i always white the like button even before i watch the show .
Thanks so much, gary! We really appreciate it.
More T-shirt weather. Positively Balmy! It's amazing how any gear in the water is like a magnet to all floating kelp debris. Oh...and nice fish. 😊
Thanks for the video.😀
you guys are so respectful of the environment and to the harvesting. Looking forward to my Fall box!
Thanks. You guys bring back memories of cutting halibut steaks in meat market in Ankorage 50 years ago. Enjoy very much. An old guy in alabama.
I love your videos and will be checking out your store.
Inviitame brother,
wow amazing star fish never seen one like that before and love the correl. Hope you had good days catch for yourselves!
‘’Anchor fish” the first and last hooks are always the lucky ones!
Yep! We don’t always get one but when we do it’s usually nice.
Good fish
Darn kelp! 🙂
Thanks for the ride!
I missed it throw it back and recatch it so I can watch lol😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I buy Dulse from Maine. The price is over $50.00 per pound. There is a very high market for kelp in the vegetarian market. I was raised on this a a snack. Dried it was like potato chips to me.....
I know you guys enjoy a calm sea. I was just thinking. The EI is a pretty vessel and will do you well but the FT is your old friend and has done you very well. When you start fishing on the EI I will miss the FT which is like the little engine that could. That big Hali was nice.
It’ll be quite a different experience on the EI for sure. We will absolutely keep the FT in the lineup though. Shes such a good little boat especially for jigging rockfish.
Its her turn soon for a little attention. Some fiberglass work and cosmetic stuff to be done when time permits.
She is such a fine little boat that you guys know well.
Video precioso,gracias por todo familia.Desde España,un abrazo.
Hey Guys my honest guess on the large halibut was 67", great content as usual 👍.
Thanks, Earnest!
@ 15:00 Here fishy, fishy, fishy. 😁 @ 32:10 That's a pretty meager catch. 😒 @ 35:15 Now that's more like it. 🤩
Everyone loves a good comeback! Especially when it’s nice fish!
All good!
I thought you were going to change the camera angle again. N I like this one
I'm not set on one angle or another but I want to keep it fresh since one view can get boring. Next trip we will work with some more angles. Seems like there's love for all the new shots so far, so glad to hear!
When yall finish the other boat are yall going to use it for longlining and jigging with the reels for cod etc. or yall going to use it just for crabbing with all the work yall are putting into her i would make her yalls main vessel she's going to be a awesome boat when finished i can't wait to see what yall do next to her she's great already 😊
All of the above Phil. We will also be filleting and freezing our catch onboard!
Not a big haul but still good haul stay safe my friends
Love your vlogs, do you have any videos of how the factory process your catch, would be very interesting...Cheers Chris
I’d love to share the process on land but the processors don’t allow filming. Once we are finished with the EI we’ll be able to show you at least some aspects of the filleting and freezing side of it!
i think i do like this camera angle better!
Good to hear! Thanks for the feedback, curt.
I havent seen Tee in awhile, is he okay? I may have missed an older one but i nust wanted to check on him. The Misses hasn't been around either. Im checking back but im not sure I've missed any.
As usual your video quality is great!
Tristen and Mom are both doing well, thanks for asking! They’re both keeping busy on land, editing and handing the business side of things.
Nice broh💪👍👍
😊😊😊😊😊
Such a nice change of pace to be watching you guys pulling gear. One question, 29 feet or fathoms?
fathoms
Use olive oil or vegetable oil for lubricants on the squawking places. If you use petroleum products, sometimes it leaves a residue smell that fish can smell and don’t like.
Hopefully that you and your family have a happy new year. What is the largest fish that you both have court ❤
Happy new year to you and yours! I think around #250 halibut.
enjoyed the ride nice fish what is the hours working per day? stay safe & healthy bye bye
Total hours for a day? Its a bit hard to say, but if we start the day at 6am we finish the day typically around 9-10pm. It varies on some things, baiting takes time, soak time maybe longer or shorter, weather can slow down hauling, and also distance between sets.
@@EISAlaska I understand I've several times got called into work it would be over 40 hours later I got to go home..
Popcorn Kelp huh? Too bad you can't market that with butter? A couple nice lunkers too! 💪 My question to you today is; how do you see on the bow port side using the deck controls? Seems like a big blind spot, but I'm in the TV. 😲👀😆
You don’t. 😆 Really not much of a need to, though. We’re always on the lookout for our buoys, and really those would be the only concern of stuff in our path. We have a general idea of when the set is getting near to the end.
Carrageen moss, Dillisk, Dulce, seaweed was a staple during the great Irish famine, it was dried and had the consistency of beef jerky and saved a lot of people from starvation during "black 47". check out the history behind the greatest disaster the Irish ever faced. I am flying out sept. 1st for two weeks to the old country and I am planning to taste as much seafood as I can eat, as there is not a lot of good sea food living in Chicago. ty for the great content folks and I will be surf fishing for the elusive European sea bass also. What's the biggest Halibut you folks ever caught?
Wow! Thank you for sharing that. We have seen a few documentaries on the great famine. It was very sobering and truly a sad event in Ireland’s history. They didn’t really delve into other food sources folks utilized to survive so this is very interesting. We hope you have a wonderful time on your travels and hook some sea bass. Probably the biggest halibut on our boat was 200 pounds, before we started out YT channel. On other boats we fished on a little over 400.
Hola amigos, me llamó Javier Simancas, actualmente vivo en Madrid España, he sido pescador muchos años en Venezuela, me gusta mucho vuestro canal , me gustaría más si pusieran subtítulos en Español para poder entenderlos.saludos
Are size limits the same for recreation or sport fishing as they are for commercial fisheries?
What do you guys do with the octopus you catch?
great video how many days a year are you on the water?
So far this season about 12 days. We’ve had a lot of downtime finishing the EI. On a typical year all fisheries, 60 days on the water wouldn’t be an exaggeration.
Is there a market for the liver of the halibut or do you just throw it away as well with the guts
Do you have quota for skate ? Or are they not commercially viable ?
How long can the Halibut stay on deck before being iced down?
that fish was a horse...i got excited when i saw that monster...there's something about catching big fish,A couple of years ago i caught a 27kg ( 60 pounds ) kingfish on my jigging set up.nearly broke me.
Isn't it fun? I really enjoy the kelp fishing, hope to go do some more as we go on.
@@EISAlaska thanks for replying.I appreciate you guys.
kia kaha from New Zealand
Ever had a monster as your first keeper. If so then what might be it's approximate poundage?
Are you retiring the fish tail?
do you guys then because of the lower quota for halibut fish extra on other fish or crabs? to earn the money that you "lost" on the halibut quota?
We do fish throughout the year normally. Jigging makes up a big portion of our season. I’m excited to get back into it soon.
@@EISAlaska thank you for your anwser. I absolutely love watching the videos and it is always so interesting to watch and learn new things. greatings from the Netherlands
What is the biggest halibut you have landed
Roughly, how old is a ‘just under size’ halibut ? Trying to get an understanding of fisheries protection side of the biz.
Good question. I’m not really sure, I think i read 5-6 years for a legal sized halibut, but don’t quote me on that. If you find out, let us know!
I wanna go😢
98 on the table looks smaller
Thinking about your brother/son who's missing. Possibly an update.
I haven’t your younger Son yet. What’s he up to now?
62"
63 about 125 pounds
Has there been a decline in the halibut population? It seems like you caught way more fish when you used to haul from tge stern. Also, it seemed like there was more room to accomodate mom and little brother.
Louie
Why don't you get a license for the Cod that you catch
@@danclark2516 P. Cod is a fully utilized fishery and has its own directed fishery with an allocation and season by gear type. The longline sector for cod has met it’s quota for the “A” season so 100% retention not allowed, however we can retain 20% bycatch in the halibut fishery.

Not much room for that rodeo with the big fish!
True that, Barbara! They like to play the drum beats on the hatches, lol.
Kenapa ikanya ada yang dibuang?sayang banget
They are less than 32 inches long so have to be released.
That's NO
i fish to eat nad take what i get.the govnerment can sood off.
