My brother John D. 3284, raced super stock for several years in the 70’s and early 80’s and he always spoke highly of Mr. Garza…aka “hotdog”. I stopped by Rene’s trailer at Norwalk a few years ago and we had a good conversation and he was very kind. Great interview
I love the stories and the pride the people have for their cars. Please keep 'em coming and thank you for the attention you show to the small guys at the track. And that small block sounds great!
Great story about the history of the car. The bored 265 small block just sounds beautiful. This folks is the very roots of drag racing. With all of today's technology, it's refreshing to see these awesome cars still racing.
Great car! Great owner! Great story! There are a few things I am always curious about with these sportsman cars and maybe you can include these questions: What town is the car raced out of? How many races does the driver attend in a year? What is their traveling range for local races, the occasional big races and so on. Thanks!!!
Best one yet ! ! !
Awesome car. This guy & his SS/OA is among the best in his class. Nice to see it. Thank you.
Awesome story

Definitely old school still especially running a 265 cubic inch engine
Joe N, 60 over 265 engine.
Beautiful 55 Rene !!
I love these kind of stories

Running one of these cars in SS is extremely challenging. Just getting head castings, and carburetors, is difficult. This guy is one of my heroes!
👍. Perfect racing history
Rena is the kind of guy that makes drag racing the people's race!
Great story!! I love these Joe.
What a cool guy!
Rene is a class act with an awesome hot rod.
OMG, I was at the 1977 Summernationals Englishtown.
You pick that sticker out of all of them.
Yes, great memories
Great job by Rene! He was super nice to us. -Joe
As old school as it gets. Love this car 😍
This is one of the ties to the past of Super Stock racing. The back story of the car and owner are treasures to NHRA drag racing. Much respect.
Nothing like a great old super stocker always was and always will be my favorite class

Rene has a cool car i live to watch race
Another high winding smallblock...too bad it ain't a stick car but I'd drive it anyway
11.59 ET? My '57 Ford Custom 2 doors sedan would easily beat that with a 9.86 on a 9.65 dial-in.
Consider this: yer Ford is obviously not built to NHRA Super Stock specs. Rene's 55 definitely is.
@@jamespiatak4102 According to who, you?
So, is yer Ford a Super Stock legal build?
@@jamespiatak4102 It set 3 NHRA records and won 3 NHRA class championships. Today, it does ET bracket racing. BTW, it's 100% all Ford.
@@jamespiatak4102 I don't do NHRA national events anymore and I couldn't care less about Super Stock classes anymore.
A BEAUTIFUL HUMAN BEING
