As coffee lovers become more finely-tuned to the flavours of their espresso, it’s important that baristas can match the precision that’s expected of them-and few devices empower them to do so as much as the Puqpress. By employing automation, the Puqpress boosts workflow efficiency by 30%, dramatically reduces barista injury, and makes it easier and easier to pull amazing espresso shots.
Inconsistencies with tamping have always been a problem for baristas-even veteran ones. It’s impossible to be perfectly flat and use the same amount of pressure every single time, which results in channelling, different shot times between shifts, imbalanced shots down the drain, and frustrated baristas.
Puqpress solved this major problem with the release of the world’s first automated precision tamper. Using adjustable lower and upper clamps, the device could evenly and consistently tamp coffee grounds in nearly any type of portafilter. It even allowed baristas to set the target pressure anywhere from 10-30kg in 5kg increments.
The precision and consistency were beloved by baristas. The Puqpress wasn’t replacing baristas-it was empowering them to pull better espresso faster.
Then came the Puqpress Q2, an upgraded precision tamper with a stronger frame, easier setup, a nano-tech tamper that reduced ground retention, and an optimized lower clamp that allowed for any style or size of the commercial portafilter.
But not every coffee shop had room for another piece of gear, which is why Puqpress released their M1 and M2 models. The M1 can sit directly beneath the popular Mahlkonig Peak and K30 grinders, and the M2 can sit beneath the Victoria Arduino Mythos One. Both models match seamlessly with their companion grinders and are strong enough to bear their weight for years and years.
If you’re looking for a way to streamline technique, improve espresso quality, and satisfy both customers and baristas, the Puqpress is a great way to do so.

I have the Q2 Gen 5 paired with a Ceado E37Z-Naked Single Dose for grinding at home. Linea Mini for brewing. The combination is really clean and almost mess free. I wipe the counter down once a week. If you have the money the combo really makes your life so easy. Skip the repetitive stress of manual tamping. Avoiding an injury is more than worth the price of any of these. I wish we had these in the coffee shop I worked at.
Very nice video(again)
I think that this is absolutely necessary for a commercial environment, baristas must watch out for their health too
For home use I think I don't have to say that 1000$ for a tamper that you will use few times a day, are totally not worth it
I would like to see an auto tamper that does nutation before tamping
Agreed. I think it’s a great way for cafes and other commercial businesses to maintain consistent espresso, but I think simply a spring-loaded tamper is sufficient for at-home espresso
Oops I got a Q2, didn't realize you can adjust it upside down easily like that! :D Brilliant!
Great explanation of the different profiles as well, and the differences between the models.
Glad you liked it!
for home use even the $400 AliExpress knockoff isn't worth it, something like a happy tamper or normcore is all you need, really. If you have physical disabilities, locking in the portafilter into the machine might be a bigger problem than tamping
I drink about 300 coffees per a day
Is it unlimited for the m1?
no. 200,00 tamps or two year warranty 🫶

Repetitive stress injury and also consistent & fast tamps
2 reasons a help with reapeditive strain but also its more effient and helps with removeing a variable in the workflow
Would be especialy helpful for high traffic cafes.
