Just come across your video - really liked it. Have you done a '1 year later' video. Would be great to know if it was still working well. I've been looking for something like this but avoided the PuqPress because of the price.
Nice video, very useful information. The thing I was missing was the consistency between shots. PuqPress is sold with the promise that each shot will be the same and barista independent (great for shops that have baristas coming in and out of the team all the time). A small video with some numbers between shots would have been great here for that reason. Otherwise, thank you for the video; I'm really considering buying this over PuqPress because of it. Cheers
I didn’t had any inconsistencies between shots as long as the portalfilter-holder was set to the right height (with the same coffee, grinder-setting, grind-dose, etc of course). If it’s too loose the portafilter will move and cause uneven tamps which leads to bad extraction. Unfortunately I don’t have a refractometer yet so there is no absolut reliability in my tests. I have to trust my tongue in this tests... What I also tried is to use different pressure settings (10kg - 30kg) on the tamper and it definitely does make a difference. So the settings are not fake. If I get my hands on a Puqpress and a refractometer, I will make a comparison video. But due to the COVID situation this won’t happen in the near future.
@@cloudcoffee8230 Sounds excellent! I found the black version of this product in AliExpress as well, so I'll try that one. (Is a bit easier on the eyes next to stainless steel.)
You're missing a few critical pieces of information. One, you should have pulled a few shots at the same settings and then showed us the gram output. Does it remain consistent with everything else prepared the same? Two, adjust the tamping pressure and then show another shot. Three, I'd like to know just how snug a fit the tamping head is to the portafilter -- specifically, if there's edge channeling after using this autopress or not. One major issue with Chinese tampers is the inconsistency in diameter. As others have said, is it 58mm? 58.5?
Thanks for the video. If possible, could you measure with caliper the diameter of the tamper? Is it really 58mm or 57.8mm, puqpress size is 58.3mm. thanks for your help 😊
Ja absolut! Benutze das Teil immernoch jeden Tag. Einziges Manko wäre die Verchromte metallgabel auf der der siebträger entlang rutscht. Da löst sich die verchromung. Was aber nicht weiter schlimm ist
Came across your video from Reddit! It's very well done and comprehensive. Can it accommodate different portafilter sizes? How do you adjust it, for example 54mm vs 58mm? I'm not sure if this was covered in the video.
The holder is designed for standard sized portafilters with 58mm. I would try to fit a 54mm if I had one to see if it works. unfortunately I only own 58mm portafilters.
I really like it and use it for my 2-5 daily espresso shots. If you are not scared of the design - which doesn’t really fit the design of usual espresso-machines and grinders, go for it! All my (home)barista friends were impressed by the tamper when they got their hands on it.
@@cloudcoffee8230 Thanks for answering. I don't really care about design, but quality and functionality. I'm going to buy 👍🏻😊. The model of my espresso machine is old, an Astoria CKX, this tamper will go well with the machine. Thanks!!!
Thanks for the video. Looks super good (especially for the first video)! :) And one question: could you measure the standby power consumption (in Watt) for me ? Would be super nice. ;)
Thank you ☺️ I will hook up a wattmeter to the tamper the next days and share the results here in the comments. If you wanna safe Energy I recommend a master-slave socket outlet. The tamper (and any other device like your grinder) will only turn on when your master-device (the Espresso Maschine) turns on. That’s a convenient way to safe energy and time. The tamper doesn’t loose its pressure settings when being turned on/off.
I have used my smart plug to measure it. So it may be not that precise. I turned it on for 24h and haven’t used it for that period of time. Only Standby. The power consumption in that Time was 0.3kwh. Unfortunately, I can’t find my real meter to measure it. That’s the closest I can come
@@cloudcoffee8230 That's totally enough of precision! :) Thank you very much!!! I converted the result and it seems like the tamper has 10 - 15 Watt of standby power. Which seems relatively bad but of course you can turn it of or use a master-slave socket as you said ... :)
@@janbart6125 Hi, I also measured the power consumption for my unit, which is the black version of the unit in the video. The standby power consumption was 1.9 W. This may be subject to some rounding errors, but converted to KWh this should be about 0.046 over 24h.
I would have liked to see the actual tamping being done. The whole unboxing process is a waste, and will only hurt your retention rate. Just a picture of the included things would do it, but after you show the product in use. A good review takes thought and time and planning....

Holy shot first video?!? Keep it up man!
Is there a reset button or a button hold combination to reset it? I have teo blue dots flashing under the number. 😢

A year after use any update? 👍
Do you still use this? How’s it holding up?
What size is the piston?
where could we find spare parts for this tamper please?
Great video mate! Keep it up! 👍🏾
Hi where did you purchase this auto temper?
WHAT SIZE PORTERFILTERS IS IT COMPATIBLE WITH?
58mm. But there may be over versions available now. Just check on aliexpress

And with puqpress you can get it in 58.5mm
Danke für das informative und ausgezeichnet gemachte Video.
Danke dir! freut mich zu hören.
Kannst du schon mal ein Update zum Gerät machen?
Bist du immer noch zufrieden?

Is that a 54mm portafilter
It’s a 58mm one
Is it still working and good?
Yes it’s still working. The noise increased a little bit that’s not a big of an issue cause it moved to a cafe and is not at home anymore.
Nice Review... It Really Helps👌👌👌
Thank you for your feedback ❤️
Any updates?
It still works like a charme. Using it every day 2-5 times. Only the chrome plating on the portafilter fork is peeling of.
Hello, my electric tamper arrived today ... I have a doubt ... you put it to charge how long until it turns on? Mine came without any load ...Thanks!
Sorry but I can’t really help you because my tamper is not battery driven. Mine needs to be plugged into the socket.

@@cloudcoffee8230 I’m interested in a 54.5 or 54.7 bases. I wish they sell bases separately
do you have a link to the reddit post?? Been looking forever!
Why?
Consistent and fast tampering. No matter which barista. Less muscle work - less injuries

Who copied who?
Should it matter to the consumer? Competition is good, and not exactly groundbreaking tech.
