- ■ NEPAL, HIMALAYA: After nearly freezing my Norse stones off during what was the coldest night on record in my 14 500+ days on planet earth, I set out in direction of the Langtang mountain valley. As soon as I had started though, a dilemma arose.
The people at my hotel had all told me to stick to the path on the left side of the river. So did my friend and Himalayan trekking expert (and RUclips colleague) Gabriel Traveller who did the Langtang trek a couple of years ago.
Two locals I met at the start of the trail however said I need to go on the right side as a landslide during monsoon season had tore up the path on the left bank along the Langtang river. A fifth person I met right at the start or the valley even pointed to a third path that didn't even run along the river.
What to do?
I have a saying in such situations which have served me well over the years. It goes a little something like this: When in doubt, Go Right!
I hesitated though as a wrong choice at this stage would mean,
A) worst case scenario I'd be in for a truly dangerous trek or
B) I'd waste hours walking in the wrong direction only to have to turn back at some stage
After pondering said dilemma whilst standing on a scenic Himalayan hanging bridge I opted too.....

It's all about love over there in Nepal.
I just remembered a few years ago some tourists being harassed by a shop lady in the mountains, which turned out to be played falsely and interpreted wrongly.
I mean how can you hate on these hard workers who make their living off the 4$ they make from a tourist.
Once you leave the selfish Western world, most people are like the ones Harold talks to. No surprises for me

In many of the countries Harald visits, dogs are not shown any affection at all like we do in the West and is why they are always cautious when approached and then love it when they are petted because they are just not used to it. So many of them starve or die from car injuries etc and the ones that are owned have very hard lives, usually tied up and used as working dogs.
@@davidholgate123 lol, Nepal literally has an annual festival for dogs called Kukur Tihar when Nepalese worship them. That injured dog will surely get help from the locals.

@@xtheczar yes all are kind, almost about 98% of people are nice. If u find anyone scamming or treating u badly just ask them where are they from.. About 99% of scammers are from outside the country specially from our neighbors, and we can't do anything about it. Nepali people are nice.

Nepalese are very friendly! I did a solo adventure in Nepal a couple years ago and trekked the ABC. I ended my trek in Pokhara and spent Christmas there. One of my best solo travels! Dal Bhat, momo and milk tea 🙏🏼 Namaste!

I usually stick to western travel destinations but this made me want to visit the Himalayan mountains. So beautiful and wow what welcoming and nice people.
Try something new... Nepal is very safe and fairly easy to navigate. Your biggest problem is gonna be that people wanna help you too much

I dont think he notices it but he is getting some of the purest form of love from every single person he meets. Amazing hospitality, fun conversations, and of course all the joyful moments. Unlike other foreigners who wants a proper and safe travel story with all those comfy beds, pro guide, best hotels, good foods, and all the good things, I think Harald shows the beauty in the most ordinary realistic things (sometimes stupid tho). Been following him from his first travel story in Nepal with Kumar. This time he looks a lot more confident and experienced. But most of all, he has shown what other foreigners are totally missing and that is the understanding and experiencing of what local people experiences here in this part of the world. I don’t think he consciously notices the moments he is creating but it is the purest and rarest form of kindness and joy in his story. I think this is the true adventure. Love from Nepal brother !

Harald is not one of these fake youtubers who are paided money to go on expensive holidays and hotels etc He is real and raw, always unwavering pushing out of his comfort zone, and has an ability unlike any other to connect with people on a personal & human level and that's why he is my all time favourite youtuber.
Yeah a bunch of other travel youtubers go to rich cities that just do it for the sponsors and clicks, but harald simply goes wherever, whenever and he doesn’t care about the clicks or the sponsors, just the adventure and making good content.

Well damn. Now that I'm watching the video I can see that everything is different for two reasons. First, the bridge you crossed at the beginning didn't exist when I was there. There's a smaller swinging bridge higher up the river that is the first bridge I crossed, but you never saw it. It looks like the bridge you crossed leads into a new road they're building on the right side. The second smaller swinging bridge you crossed over to the left side of the river is the one that I was saying not to cross, but from the other side after walking through the village that you didn't walk through, because you crossed the new bridge. And then you're encountering all the landslides on the left side across the trail that weren't there before. So everything is different. The main thing is you're posting videos, so that means you survived.

the panther dog is Tibetan Mastiff. Its one of the most expensive dog breeds in the world, fiercely loyal too. Glad u enjoyed the trip.

Agree I'm not a traveller but through Harold I have traveled to the far ends of the earth and experienced fun and sadness of the people he meets. Why Netflix has not requested him to do a series is beyond me. His content imo supercedes much of the adventure travel they already have.

"Heaven is fake, NEPAL is real". People who heard it might be taking it lightly just as other statements and dialogues. But only few ones know that it literally is. Talk about food, culture, hospitality, religion, living satisfaction, respect for animal as well as people. Just the air is enough to make u fresh and energetic. I came to Australia when I was 18 now I am 23. I came here to make life but I was hit with the big realization of the fact that I left the only life I had. So now I am going back after 5 years back to my HOME AND HEAVEN. This madness over dollar and western life is shit joke, you don't live twice because God makes life and people make dollar.

Actually I was searching some comment about it, they were not speaking Nepali even I don't understand. I was thinking who helped him to translate, then I realized how could they know what an Albino was? I think they were speaking Tamang(language) which is very close to Tibetan language.

Each to his own and no judging, but I was So suprized to read what your optionion because mine was exactly oposite to yours. I have been travelling arround the world for many years to arround 17 countries and always so happy to meet locals Give them the full and most respect as the locals and always remember that I am the guest there. I would only enter a persons home or buisnes if I was INVITED IN . This guy has not much respect in my mind for the locals - you do not walk in to somebody's private safe place and release there dog that they tied up - I love animals and dogs a lot and NEVER want to see any animal tied up BUT..............it's there home - there dog - there life - there choice - RESPECT THAT and don't go against the local choice and don't make fun of them - if they wanted him runing arround they could do it without "Help""....

Nepal is my one of the favorite country . I love nepal so much. nepal is at the top of my traveling list. I love their culture. especially, I like and love the their mountain lifestyle, culture, mountain environment, and their hospitality. my greatest desire is to live a few days with their mountainous lifestyle. again i love so mush nepal. from srilanka.❤❤
Wow, first I didn't want to believe to my ears when I heard that this lovely nepalese lady used the word 'cukor' when asking about 'sugar' at 19:32. In the hungarian language, we use 'cukor' for 'sugar' too😃
