For an apprentice, videos like these are absolutely brilliant!! Thanks so much for the time and effort you clearly put into each video. Keep ‘em coming!! 👊🏼
This is a superb example of consistency when bending. Using a spring will give you a slightly different shaped bend every time, and compared to this would look like a dogs dinner. For any apprentice watching, learn this, or any other methods out there ( and I use a different method to this, but still get the same accurate results ) and stick with it. Speed will come with time and soon you’ll be bending pipes quicker than someone using elbows and soldering them. The advantages of bending pipes are - * it’s neater * it won’t leak * lower flow resistance, leading to longer pump lifespan * no hot works permit if you’re on site Very neat job you did there, I bet the customer was thrilled with the installation when you finished.
We run a small plumbing and heating company just outside of London, had a guy in for an interview that suggested bending copper tube is a 'thing of the past' and could do it all in soldered fittings just as well. Mentioned he refused to carry tube benders on his van, as it was a waste of space.........Forgotten his name already, as he didn't get the job. It's nice to see it done properly.
This video is class. Some top tips for an apprentice like myself! Using the off cuts to get a mm accurate measurement. And taking note of inside/outside/centre marks , and how to copy that onto the bender itself is a trick I will be adding! Thanks 🙏🏼
Tight work, and great demonstration. Bending over elbows any day! I was taught to always use the longest stretch of pipe you can ie. preferrably a single piece between junctions and endpoints. Bends are not only cheaper than elbows, cleaner than soldering, more leakproof than any fitting, the better flow also means less turbulence so less noise and better pressure.
Thank you for a brilliant guide to bending as an apprentice this rely is the best way I have seen to pull bends, this will be put into practice on Monday thank you 👍

Just wondering if laying underfloor is taught differently in England.I have been in the industry for some forty years mostly working in Scandinavia, the Netherlands,Germany and the middle east on industrial contracts.Dont you lay the pipe allowing for the returning pipe from each circuit to loop alongside the flow so that you dont have as much of a temperature difference and making the overall layout more efficient rather than losing temperature further away from the manifold.Simply staggering the loop to allow for a returning loop is how i was taught.Keep up the good work.
Thanks man we deal with imperial measurements in canada but it's all transferable I'm doing mini split systems for VRF this helped a great deal and I'm thankful 💯
Great video. Ive always been curious about bending copper tubing. What type/grade of copper tubing is that. In the US the only types readily available are K, L,and M, none of which to my knowledge can be bent without kinking. Malleable copper is available in rolls (for refrigeration) but I've never seen it in straight lengths. Always willing to learn something new.
The tripod bender is better if you have a lot of bending todo you can square it up easier .as we have a lot of 28mm gas runs these days it gets a lot of use mine also does 35mm
Whats the best way to practice complex bends whilst being a student ?, would you suggest buying a bundle of copper and trying or is there a more economical way to do this, please reply me, love the videos I aspire to be as good as this 😊
Is that a Rothenberg bender and 22mm pipe. I oten get ripples when I bend 22mm. I am guessing this is to do with quality of the copper. Do you know if heating the pipe slightly helps?
Dear P B, very nice work there. (I love that). Kindly, ¿are you bending type L, or M copper pipe (rigid tubing), please? ¿Or is this bendable type copper pipe, please? Thank you for making and posting this video.

Really strange that I never touch any other valve other than Honeywell. They rarely fail prematurely and are good for 10years plus. Honeywell valve never affected by sludge. Yes the cheap replacement synchron motors do fail but the original lasts for years. I have been plumbing for 30 years and I still mess up bends thanks for the Video.
