@@PolenarTactical Ha I did the same, borrowed from a friend who's a firearms dealer here, we both had the same conclusions you did in this video and long term he decided to sell his as he preferred his CZ S2 Orange, it was more reliable and comfortable long term for him.
To be fair, pistol ammunition of any kind will generally not be capable of the same accuracy as a rifle round just due to the manufacturing. It’s not manufactured to have a .5 MOA group even out of a 16” barrel.
my local shop had one that a customer was picking up and guy let me try it. its crazy strange in a good way. recoil is quick. makes you want to shoot faster. price is not bad when you think about guns like a staccatos that are like 4k for a 2011 which is fairly common design. so at 5k for something that is one of a kind. now they go for like 8 grand and yeah thats way too much.
I bought one last year; it’s such a nice pistol to shoot. It can be quite odd though; to properly index it you’ve got to go like 10* lower than you’re used to with other handguns. So extend out, then tilt your wrist down 10*. It’s very natural once you’re used to it, but it’s definitely odd. I removed the 6MOA Cmore it came with and replaced it with a 1MOA Trijicon SRO after using it for awhile.
I feel that the slightly off grip angle will negate any advantages the pistol might have for inexperienced/new gun users, purely because that makes it less a literally "point and shoot" pistol with an ergonomically natural grip - aka the barrel pointing where your index finger would point naturally.
If I have to manipulate my grip, I don't need to be shooting it!!! Why I hate Glocks, my wrist angle is way wrong, and gun points low many and inch. I shoot a CZ 75 B and 1911's as they pull up on target for me, why shoot a pistol if you have to manipulate it just because it looks cool?? I would like to shoot one and see how it works in my hands !
With the Walther PPQ you don’t even need to put the mag inside with force, you can slide it in smoothly and carefully and than just slam again from underneath or againstvthe side of the firearm, gash that’s so satisfying
An interesting effort at solving problems with currently dominant semi-auto pistol solutions: tilting barrels, slide-mounted optics & maybe even slides themselves are not ideal, but it might be a bit early to say they are obsolete.
This gun combines the low bore axis falling hammer design of the Russian IJ35 .22 target pistol and the gas retard system of the H&K P7. Very cool design...........
The design is really cool and neat, but I think its definitely going to need a drop in price if it wants to be competitive. I imagine more competitors, iteration and development down the line, will reduce the costs, that is if we see more pistols with low bore fixed barrel designs like this, Gen 1 adopters always pay premium, when it comes to using and testing new and innovative designs.
Looks like a very similar approach to the Steyr GB from the 1980s. But upside down. The Steyr GB also used gas tapped off of the barrel to retard the slide and create a pistol that automatically adapted to different pressure loads.

It can be shot more accurately. But, let's be honest, you buy the Alien for its technical design/features/innovations as a competition gun, not for static target shooting. No need to spend 5k for an accurate target pistol. You can get equally good and better ones (e. g. SIG P210, CZ Sport II) for not even half that price. Had the opportunity to try it myself once, and ended up really liking the Alien. I wasn't 5k worth of amazed, but, as you said, it's nice to see companies try something new and different (as long as it makes sense). As to the low bore axis: It helps to an extent, but doesn't really make that much of a difference with relatively mild ammo, such as 9x19. Fast follow-up shots with .357 Magnum out of a Chiappa Rhino is when the differences become more apparent.

I know it's because people need to keep the pistol pointed downrange, but I chuckled because he looked like he did the Naruto run with a pistol for a second.
This harkens back to the FN1900 and Dreyse 1907 with the spring location. Seems pretty complicated (a problem with thr early handguns), but hopefully they have any bugs worked out. Shpagin would definitely disapprove with his "complexity is easy, simplicity is difficult" motto.
I own the Chiappa Rhino & love it due to bore axis. I would 100% buy this IF i weren't a CA resident... much like the CZ Shaow 2 compact OR. We cant have anything nice 🤦♂️
The Laugo is cool, maybe a preview of the future but it should have a better non tilting system (like Beretta 92 but more robust or Strike one Arsenal). Also the slide can be more robust. Overall a very cool project, with advanced characteristics 👍 ...even if personally I like more SAO pistols, with external hammers. The Arex Zero should have constant evolutions, in "present generations" is one of the most interesting , 4 inches format is the favourite 👍 😃🇮🇹
@zepetv589 I know, in my opinion is better a not tilting system, without gas retention for heat up. Like beretta 92 or arsenal strike one. You need to experience heat up on pistols, shooting many rounds in small time. Also with a gas hole there is always the risk of clogging by debrits and water interactions, not worth it for a defense/operative gun (still doable for sports/controlled enviroments).
there is a different model with a '1911 grip profile' if you want to pay an extra 2k for that and a cmore. love mine just wish they made a cheaper polymer one that I could take every range trip instead of once a year. didn't mind the grip angle but can see why that can be annoying to train back into
The Beretta Neos works on the same principle, but in blowback being a .22 cal pistol. The sights dont move only the rear portion of the slide does when fired.
Most comprehensive review I've seen so far. You touched on the grip angle being too steep which is my concern for all pistols. I like a vertical grip angle like those on Sig P320, Beretta 92s or the 1911. Thanks for the review, although, I'll never be able to own one of these anyway. lol.
@@gideonschlen4022 Yes, I see that! Still can't buy one. It's such a simple design, I wish someone would come up with a cheaper version of it. I first thought about locating the gas block above the barrel years ago when the HK P7 frame heating up was an issue.
7:40 I have the same problem with Glocks, they just point upwards in my hands and its very uncomfortable to correct it for me… Interesting gun from my country, would love to shoot it sometimes but it probably never happens for its low production and high price.…
I don’t think heat is a problem in any normal use. I preload 15 magazines for my practice sessions with Alien and I can easily shoot them within the session. No problems with heat whatsoever. Perhaps magdumping them could be a different thing.

Shpagin would definitely disapprove with his "complexity is easy, simplicity is difficult" motto.
it looks complex as it's different from other handgun designs but it's actually quite simple
Mateba Model 6 Unica and Chiappa Rhino 40DS are the famous ones.
I love all the videos but nobody buying that when Taran tactical exist
Outside my budget now, but someday. I just love the design and love firearms.
You don't want it.
I own the Chiappa Rhino & love it due to bore axis. I would 100% buy this IF i weren't a CA resident... much like the CZ Shaow 2 compact OR. We cant have anything nice 🤦♂️
Says "Czechoslovakia" on the slide. 😀
there’s a new Alien with a different grip angle
I know, we saw it at IWA 2023 this year, that model has a much better grip angle
It's good to know sliced bread is an international monetary unit. It's a shame it gets moldy, though.
It's nice, sure. But not $5k nice.
Recovering R&D costs I understand but sheesh.
The Laugo is cool, maybe a preview of the future but it should have a better non tilting system (like Beretta 92 but more robust or Strike one Arsenal).
Also the slide can be more robust.
Overall a very cool project, with advanced characteristics 👍
...even if personally I like more SAO pistols, with external hammers.
The Arex Zero should have constant evolutions, in "present generations" is one of the most interesting , 4 inches format is the favourite 👍
😃🇮🇹
It's not a tilting system though, it's gas delayed blowback.
@zepetv589
I know, in my opinion is better a not tilting system, without gas retention for heat up.
Like beretta 92 or arsenal strike one.
You need to experience heat up on pistols, shooting many rounds in small time.
Also with a gas hole there is always the risk of clogging by debrits and water interactions, not worth it for a defense/operative gun (still doable for sports/controlled enviroments).
bro sound proof your range :D
It has a Operating System Like a Steyr GB.
I would be interested, but not at that price point. I would rather get 2-4 other guns for that price.
there is a different model with a '1911 grip profile' if you want to pay an extra 2k for that and a cmore. love mine just wish they made a cheaper polymer one that I could take every range trip instead of once a year. didn't mind the grip angle but can see why that can be annoying to train back into
The Beretta Neos works on the same principle, but in blowback being a .22 cal pistol. The sights dont move only the rear portion of the slide does when fired.
I knew that thing reminded me of something.
@@Elmojomo yes correct 💯
5000! Ouch! That doesn’t tickle 😆🐸🍺🔪🔥
I know some of the compensation is from your skill as a shooter, but that thing looks like it shoots flat as fuck.
Most comprehensive review I've seen so far. You touched on the grip angle being too steep which is my concern for all pistols. I like a vertical grip angle like those on Sig P320, Beretta 92s or the 1911. Thanks for the review, although, I'll never be able to own one of these anyway. lol.
They have a new model with a 1911 grip angle
@@gideonschlen4022 Yes, I see that! Still can't buy one. It's such a simple design, I wish someone would come up with a cheaper version of it. I first thought about locating the gas block above the barrel years ago when the HK P7 frame heating up was an issue.
7:40 I have the same problem with Glocks, they just point upwards in my hands and its very uncomfortable to correct it for me… Interesting gun from my country, would love to shoot it sometimes but it probably never happens for its low production and high price.…
Wait.. It cost 5000$?!
That's much for a pistol.
I don’t think heat is a problem in any normal use. I preload 15 magazines for my practice sessions with Alien and I can easily shoot them within the session. No problems with heat whatsoever. Perhaps magdumping them could be a different thing.
I have that same grip angle issue with Glocks. No fixing it without a lot of training.
Awesome, a upside down P9.
Okay well tell them to make a weird Alien SMG/Rifle and make sure it uses some weird proprietary ammo none of us can afford.
Stopped and exiting this video after seeing that price.
Nice video
So it's an upside down p7 without the squeeze cocking feature.
Great Review boss! Thanks 👍
HELLO @Polenar Tactical may I please know what eyepro you are wearing in this video? Thank you. Love your content, greetings from the Philippines.
EDGE Urgent Fury - great glasses with big unobstructed field of view
@@PolenarTactical you actually replied!!! THANK YOU!! Hope you get to do more shotgun content!
Finally something good from slovakia
The video shows such a low recoil. Nice design as well. Perhaps the grip could be a bit more ergonomic?
Yes, they actually made improvements on the newer model
I call it the low-boy berretta
But I’m pretty sure if you could’ve flashlight on that thing you’re gonna blow it off
You have come a long way since the first goofball videos! I have to admit, though, that hearing the word 'tired' from you was a bit of a shock. 😜
This was a good, concise review. Your thoughts on the grip angle remind me of comments on the Glock's grip angle when they were first released. It would be nice to be in a position to even consider dropping several thousand monetary units on a pistol.😎 For those who, enjoy!! 🙂
We have this gun at the range, carbon built up is a pain
