My mother was stay at home mom when I was little and I needed that. I went on to serve 20 years in military and 23 years as corrections officer in state prison. My daughter is RN in Texas and been married almost 14 years with 2 kids. My son served in Navy 5 yrs. and works for united airlines. And my youngest is autistic and has worked 2 jobs for about 4 yrs. now. All from stay at home mom. I'm tired of these attacks on them. Stay at home moms don't establish careers, they establish legacies. And yes, I'm very proud of my RN daughter in her career! But she has respect for all people, regardless of ''achievements''.
@jameshoffmsn4364 I have yet to see anyone attacking stay at home moms? The offence taken by most regarding the speech was not that he held SAHMs in such high regard, (he absolutely should) but he also stated the way to salvation is through marriage. A traditional marriage in which women do not work outside the home, but forego their careers to support the husband's career. This was what the sisters made their statement on as well. Outcry was that he indicated homemaker is a woman's ONLY Godly vocation. That to me is an extreme view which the Bible itself doesn't represent, as women were encouraged to take part in markets as part of her family life (Proverbs 31)

As a woman who was poked and prodded and begged to have a baby, and finally one day found motherhood through adoption, I know what a blessing and a gift not just motherhood but fatherhood is ❤❤

I got married when I was 18, had our first son when I was 19. My husband was 20. Two more sons followed before our 5th anniversary. I stayed home full time while my husband worked so hard to support us. We’ve been married 48 years and all 3 sons have been married to their wives for over 20 years. We walked with Jesus before we got married and we were best friends. We still are. Those are the 2 keys to our happy marriage ❤

There is a false choice in the world and in the church, that you either have to be a wife and a mom or a feminist. We can be unmarried and content in that, without rejecting the value of marriage. All we really need is to follow God in whatever path He places us on.

Best podcast ever. As a Catholic I like how John despite not a Catholic himself is respectful of Catholics unlike some other evangelical podcasts. Keep it up John. Love it that you put God and your family first, and Skillet is the best band ever. I truly believe that conservative traditional Catholics like me have more in common with Evangelical Christians like you who follow Biblical law vs liberal Catholics who are pro abortion and LGBT. We still have some doctrinal differences but I pray that the Church can eventually become one as Jesus prayed. John 17 20-21 “I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

Glad you are back been missing you. I'm offended that people are offended. I was a stay at home mom who homeschooled. That did not make me weak. During that time I came across those who disagreed with my choice. So I learned that people who are for free choice are only for you when you do what they agree with. I am a woman of God and I am not weak. Just look at proverbs 31 and Ruth. Strong women smart and God fearing. I am and will always be a proverbs 31 woman.

Great episode, one thing I think was forgotten, Isaiah 54:1-3, where it is said that the barren women's children shall more numerous than those who are married. My wife and I have a son now, but there was time not so long ago she personified this. She was a teacher at a preschool for many years, and in that time, we would often go to community events at those events all the kids in her classes and their parents would see her and always great her, hug her and show her how much they were thankful for how she loved their children. All of those kids in several classes over 9 years were hers in exactly the way this verse explains. I am sure there are many more out there who pour their lives into the children around them that are not theirs and they pray for children of their own, remember God says you are blessed too.

Harrison Butker was right on! Heck Harrison could of mentioned a half a dozen other lies that have sold to women (and men) and his commencement address still would have triggered the same people!

Freakin awesome -- it's so true. I almost gave up on marriage myself because of all the crazy feminism out there -- I thought I was going to be miserable. Now I'm embracing God's plan and refocusing my life back on being the best version of me to get ready and believe for marriage.

I love that, Mr. Butker took a stand for his beliefs and the created order God has established. He does not say that women can not have another vocation but that for many, the vocation they are called to and will be happiest in is that of homemaker. I have worked as a healthcare provider, CEO, business owner, and yet the greatest of all is wife, mother, educator, and homemaker. My greatest joy is found in being present for my children and husband. God ordered my steps, and I am happiest following them.

Hello John. I consider myself awake (NOT woke). I was raised Christian. Not once was it preached to me that all woman should only be homemakers. Homemakers are wonderful. But for a woman to work is not a sin. (diabolical) Butker claims the only way to salvation is through marriage. A woman's Godly role is supporting her husband and raising children. That women have only one vocation, according to God's will. (yet the bible itself speaks of women selling to the markets in support of her family. Proverbs 31) THAT is the offence, as the sisters have concurred, nothing else was disputed. Poor Mother Theresa!
(She too did not fulfill God's calling). 🤷♀️
sidenote: Men and women need each other, as do children. No one was disputing that.

You'll have to count me as one of those who disagreed some with what he said. I think it's great to encourage women to embrace marriage and motherhood. I'm a stay at home mom and wouldn't want to do anything else. The problem is, I think some conservatives have a tendency to push back a little too hard against modern feminism. I've seen this recently with some people implying that women simply wanting to have a career in addition to being a wife and a mom is trying too much to be like a man. Harrison Butker may not have meant to, but I think he came across a little too far in the latter direction. Also, the way he talked about his wife's career not working out makes me wonder if she gave up a career not because she wanted to stay home, but rather because that's what he encouraged her to do. Even Allie Beth Stuckey has criticized the point he made about his wife's life truly beginning when she began to live out her vacation as a wife and mom. I don't feel like my life truly started when I became a wife and mom, I just entered a different chapter.
If you watch an interview he did (search youtube) He said he would only marry a Catholic Traditional woman. They broke up and she later converted and agreed to give up her career dreams. His belief is that they had to follow traditional roles to have salvation. She succumbed or he would not have married her.
