Picking is the one weak point in my playing. I analysed legato to death like picking has been done here. I've discovered I'm an up-slanter, not a down-slanter. My problem is I still struggle to tremolo pick quickly.

With this man breaking down slowly every Nuance I can absolutely learn it slowly ⭐then a little bit more than a little bit more than a little bit more and in a year or two realistically I can flow pretty good with those licks. My ears and capabilities have grown in the last many years with others like him teaching me but this man is the top! Thank you buddy bless you for the help. Playing some of the fun and difficult things I've mastered over the years give such joy and I am looking forward to practicing this stuff for the next several years more than ever.

Quick note for anyone using this to learn the intro to Cliffs of Dover (like me); there is an extra full bend in the EJ version, located in the tablature (from the Masters in Mechanics subscription) on the 3rd 16th note of the 2nd beat in the 4th measure (14th fret of the 3rd string).
Technically not a mistake, because the tabs are accurate to Troy's hands, but EJ plays it slightly differently. Happy practicing! Thanks for the awesome content Troy!

Holy crap! I know Troy places a lot of focus on the picking aspect, but I love how a couple of those licks looked like real "finger twisters" with regards to the fretting hand! I always feel so proud when playing a continuously flowing line and in the middle of it I do something like transition from fretting, let's say, the 12th fret with my pinky, to fretting the 14th fret a couple of strings away with my ring finger, and vice versa...makes for an interesting-looking flow of notes.

From one Troy to another... I think eric needs to watch this video... I first herd eric while cruising back in 89 or 90 when he had just released ah.via musicom. Trademark and cliff's of Dover were the only two songs getting any airplay. Trademark came on and I pulled over at the nearest payphone and called the station and asked who is this guy playing guitar? I drove straight to peaches records and bought his CD. He is still my favorite guitar player and I go and see him whenever he comes within a 200-mile radius of my town. Had a good conversation with him and Chris Maresh back in 03 I think was the year when Alien love child was put together. I was amazed at how humble and soft-spoken ej is.. Just a really all around great guy as I and my friend felt like that clip in the movie Waynes world..We're not worthy! We're not worthy! anyway thanksTroy for making erics unique playing style a little bit easier to emulate... Have a wonderful Day. Troy Dawes.
