Synthetic is a lot easier to take care of, but wood has soul.

I have Vanguards chambered in .257 Weatherby, 7mm Rem Mag, .30-06 Springfield, .300 Win Mag, .300 Weatherby, . The .257 Weatherby is the Series 2 and came with a Boyd's Thumbhole stock. The 7 mm Rem Mag, .30-06, .300 Win Mag were bought from Walmart and all came with a Bell and Carlson tan w/black spiderweb stock only available from Wal-mart, and were 0n sale for $350.00 each. Tthe .300 Weatherby Mag is a Sporter and has the Wood Stock. To the best of my Knowledge, ALL Vanguards were/are made by Howa and are pretty much the Howa 1500 barreled action.

I’m pretty sure you are correct on that. I think most of the weatherby models are getting the barrels through Howa (japan). Which im not opposed to that, Japan makes some good stuff!

I agree, I wasn't in any way attempting to Bad Mouth the Vanguards being Made in Japan, thyey are excellant Rifles. I've got 2 Weatherby Mark V's chambered in 7mm Weathyerby Mag and they were both made in Japan. I'll take them all day long.
One thing I'd like to see Howa change is the Target that comes with the Rifle showing the 3 Shot Groups shot at the Factory. My understanding is that this isn't the group shot with the actual rifle but rather is the barreled action set up in a Jig and then shot. Hopefully, just putting the barreled action into a Stock doesn't change the shot grouping, one of the rifles I own actually shows the 3 shots touching each other.
I should add, I was an FFL 01 for 10 years and most of the Rifles I own were bought to build up my Inventory (some might call it My Collection, LOL) and I haven't shot them yet because as they sit, most are still "as New In Box". I'd say they are actually New In Box because I bought them from my Distributor and they haven't been touched since. But when I relinquished my FFL 01, I had to list them in my Bound Book as being transferred from my Company to myself.

@@rodneyferguson446 ohh yeah I knew what you meant. Sounds like you quite a good collection brother. I have a brand new Howa chambered in .270 that I will be doing a video on next! I’m Curious to see how it does.
