SL Team owned up to their mistakes and the matter was resolved amicably. This shows maturity. Mistakes do happen sometimes, can't help it. One thing I would like to mention is Dilshan, Jayawardhene are very imotional on the field. Lots of example like when Dilshan dismissed Kohli in 2011 final or Jaywardhene's expression when hi hits century or when a wicket falls. Even Sangakara have brain freezed moments during the match, how he sleged to Pollack behind the wicket in a match or 2011 toss for the first time he called 'hales' and the toss had to happen again. So I think they did it deliberately at that moment, then after the match they felt guilty.
Yes he didn't want to score 100s he just wants rohit to be in charts Some say it's sl normal team but remember he played more than half match from 1st to last over didn't divert or lose conitinuty He even scored a 200 against auusuies
What a solid captain! What a great character shown by the Sri lankans. Hats off to the entire team and what they did to protect a gem of cricketer- Murli.
I still remember the match. Sehwag was on 99 and india needed 5 runs. All of a sudden Sangakkara missed a ball and it went for 4 byes. Next ball commentator said 'what if Randiv bowls a wide or no ball' And he bowled a no ball...
when a reporter questioned sehwag about this matter after the match, he said that when murali was on 799 wickets, india tried so hard to stop murali taking his 800th wicket, so these kind of thing happens in the cricket. But these two incidents are not same. They are completely different from each other. Caz India didnt do any unethical act but sri lanka did. India didnt give their last wicket to the bowler at the other end to stop murali taking 800 wickets. They played their game. And the murali was lucky. Sri lanka could have done the same thing. But answering to your question , i dont think dilshan did that for any knid of fixing act. As i know, dilshan always want to win the game. He doesnt like losing matches. He scream at players when they drop catches. When he nick the bowl, He never leaves the crease untill the umpire calls out. May be, he was fustrated about losing the match. It could be due to the heat of the moment. but As a player he should have accepted the both victory and defeat in same manner. these kinds of unethical things shouldnt be in cricket. Because this is a gentleman's game.
If I were Dilshan and Sehwag was my close friend or family member, I would've still asked the bowler to bowl a noball.... it's my wish.....is there any rule that I shouldn't bowl a noball deliberately ? no right ? then what's the problem ?
My point of view about what happened that night is that Sehwag played very well and in the audience's heart... He has scored 100 always for his grit and brutal confidence. Cricket must be the winner. We fans are so lucky to have know this sport. It has made us what we are. We can't ignore the fact that Cricket created an identity for the whole of India.
The reason honestly would be known to Dilshan himself and is likely to be something mischievous that came by at that very instant...maybe to ensure that Sehwag doesn't really enjoy the victory due to a missed milestone....malicious intent to say the least...sporting rivalry which belittled the spirit of the game for sure
If I were Dilshan and Sehwag was my father, my brother or my best friend, I would've still asked the bowler to bowl a noball....why shouldn't I ? Spirit of the game ? ask ICC about that....why did they even place such a faulty rule in the first place, huh ? we are calmly accepting their other faulty rules like Umpires call, DLS method etc right ? so why can't we use this rule ? fast bowlers bowling deliberate beamers to injure the batsmen is fine, but when I deliberately overstep one time my career is over ? fuckin hypocrites
For me I think Dilshan would have said in a friendly banter with Team mates (Delhi Daredevils), but then youngster Suraj Randiv took this comment seriously as this came from a senior. Hansie Cronje incident please
7:54 but that dialogue was not said by Shatrughan sinha but AB. "Hum jaha khade hote hai.."
I have one question here, i watched this game live... Sehwag played couple dot balls before no ball had bowled and that time sehwag was on 99 only, then how come Suraj Randiv knew that sehwag will dancing down the track hit him and he bowled no ball.. This was not deliberate
Same kind of deliberately bowling action by Ashwin with MS Dhoni's captaincy, but no one talk about this
