how did you go from Na1+O2- to Na2O?? thats where i lost you....
When sodium and oxygen are "put together" they form an ionic bond. This means you need to check the charges for each ion (1+ for Na and 2- for O) and then neutralize the charges which gives you the formula Na2O.
