Personally, I don’t think he was that great in the animated show Diabolical. Incredible actor but he’s not a voice actor. I think it’s possible Chris Cox, the impersonator, gave a better VO than what Starr could have done.

Antony Starr definitely declined because of the money. I'm sure COD put out big bucks for him to record like 15 lines, then NRS came over with a Shakespearean play worth of lines and offered less. They couldn't match Activision most likely.

They got J.K. Simmons, John Cena, Sylvester Stallone etc. They weren't able to get Arnold Schwarzenegger to voice terminator in MK11 but I think that was due to scheduling issues not money. It would shock me that they had enough to pay for these guys and not Antony Starr unless he was asking for a ridiculous amount.
@@zato-1766 Wouldn't surprise me if starr was asking for an ridiculous amount. J.K simmons is actually super cool. He took part in a short movie which i'm pretty sure he didn't even get paid for because he liked the script that much. John cena is known to be really down to earth, and he loves his peacemaker character so i'm not surprised he was on board with mk. And Stallone is out of his prime so he probably didn't ask for much. Also cast members of the boys said starr was most like his character.

Most of these voice actors may even be contractually obligated to keep producing lines for Kombat Packs down the line. With that in mind, I think it's no wonder Starr wasn't down for less than he wanted.
Even though Antony isn't voicing Homelander, it's still good to have the likeness. Also the gameplay is good so it ain't all doom and gloom.
Yea man look tekken is my favorite fighting series hands down, but I enjoy mk as well mkx is my favorite fighting game but mk1 is fine everyone hates on it but it’s fun, homelander looks great

They pretty much copied a lot of moves from Superman from injustice 2 but probably superman even has more moves yet in the trailer we only see some punches and a lot of laser. Homelander can shout rly loud like sindel and yet it isnt a move here. (Disclaimer: I didn't watch the boys yet so I don't know everything about homelander)

MK1 isnt really dead. It's having the same problem Tekken is having with MTX and people being mad about them. But on the whole it generally has a more casual player base than tekken or SF6 so there are less players that stick around for a year on steam even though MK1 has sold the most copies out of the 3 i believe.
Yeah, i still play this, but nah, it's not dead. Especially after the Ermac patch.
Been wanting to go back, mk was always my go to fighting game but i hopped onto the tekken train this year and I’ve just been enjoying it so much more as of rn

The effects, animations, intros characters, sounds, stages and music are just better in MK1👍
mk1 is my first and only fighting game, i put a few thousand matches into it but reached a wall in learning and getting better so i stopped playing

@@BuffaloBill879 i got hard stuck vi with johnny cyrax for 200ish sets, season resets and i played the scrubby raiden sareena, i got to vii in 60 sets with a record of 50/10. (my johnny record was around 80/70)

As someone who started fighting games with NRS Titles and then Tekken, boi this community has a lot to say about Mortal Kombat 1. I played it and it’s better than MK11 but Tekken has taken over me now and i still love the franchise even with Warner bros incompetence on NRS not To mention Tekken 8 has its fair share of problems and BS
Have you seen Mk1 pros play? Its literally all the same two moves til they get a hit then its just the exact same combo lol. MK1 looks boring at high levels and far too simple. Its fun for casuals for a month then it gets boring

@@brandongibson9247 Oh props to you but I don’t think it’s lazy at all. What’s wrong with using the same combos though? I thought optimal combos are always the way to go and I gotta be honest I really like the kameo system being able to pull off some insane shit and combos. I dropped the game for awhile just waiting takeda because he is the only reason I wanna come back and main. The only thing I hate about the game is its content and monetisation like invasions is a chore
@@Jylstin maybe Tekken just spoiled me with multiple optimal combos for characters and more variety of attacking. I do not like the Kameo system at all, i'd prefer if they actually brought back the 2v2s from MK9 honestly. But I also just don't like 2D fighters, i'm more into arena fighters like Tenkaichi, Soul Calibur, DoA type stuff.

Why blurring the fatalities ?
RUclips sometimes demonetize videos containing excessive violence, so youtubers censor it. It's the same for the independent fatality compilations on yt, the creators use characters without red blood to hopefully not get demonetized.

Of course, MK is incredibly popular, at least more popular than any other fighting game. Sadly yet they always have the lowest player retention due to their half baked games

I’m a huge fan of Tekken and MK. Tekken excels in gameplay but MK has amazing presentation with fun guest characters and, imo, the coolest fighting game roster ever. There’s someone for everyone. MK1 and 11 had issues but personally I think the series is over hated

MK1 is pretty decent at this point. Getting costumes sucks, but if you watched Combo Breaker it is hype. I feel like people are stuck on where it was before Khameleon and the desync fix. The game is fun, it just lags behind T8 and SF6. I am normally an NRS/ArcSys/Tekken guy...but I have mainly been playing SF6. But I will pick this game up every time they add characters (Ermac is really fun).
I gotta agree man, mk1 at combo breaker was pretty fun.
That pro gameplay was mid. Theres no variety in combos and its all about the same two pokes, most characters got a jab and a special move to poke. Idk to me its boring, but its fun for a month and playin with friends

Mk1s problem is there are no gmeplay variety. Everyone is a mixup rushdown character. Sure there are some grapplers like reiko but theyd much rather use tremor to do a relentless rusdown like every other character (or just spam projectiles) rather than command grabbing. Rain is pretty much the only mk1 character who is not a complete rushdown and is more like a zoner. In mk11 there was so much variety in how you want to play. You want to zone? Choose skarlet,cetrion or jade, do you want to rushdown? Choose jacqui or johnny cage, midrange? Shao kahn, cassie or spawn, need a mixup character? Sonya,kabal, baraka. Set up frametrap character? Joker,raiden, frost and kano. Grappler? Geras, jax and kotal.

Why do all other fighting games have to stutter on each hit. I think thats one of the main reason I've always gravitated towards tekken since I was a kid. It feels so jarring watching the other games.

I think MK should take a risk again and try 3D fighters again like Deception and Armageddon... The newer systems would allow them to overhaul their game and make interesting new battle systems
Love his fatalities, but i must say i don't really like his gameplay, to me he look exactly like Omni-Man but less powerful with more lasers.
MK1 is "dead" because the game is way too simple. Every single character has safe or positive moves on block that otherwise lead to full combos on hit, and so "neutral" becomes "who gets impatient enough to hit buttons while they're negative, first?"
I've said it countless times, they had something special going on with MKX and they threw it all away for MK11 and then for MK1. MKX was even fun to watch. MK11 and MK1 are not fun to watch compared to MKX. They are literally repeating the same mistakes they did during the 3D era when the games started flopping, they seem unable to keep things the same and evolve them, they just keep changing the formula with every new game.
MKX is still my favourite fighting game honestly. It was mad fun both to play and to watch. Sometimes it got really frustrating, but that's fighting games for ya I guess

Watching this game in action makes me cringe every time for the last 10 years. It only has cast, visuals, and violence. MK needs ANOTHER developer studio cause Neather Realm isn't cutting it the last 3 games
Well I still don’t get „oh no mk1 is dead“. I play both mk1 and T8 and I enjoy them aside from the microtransactions mainly in in T8

I feel similarly to you TMM: curious about what’s going on in MK games, but I’d never play them. Grinding this game for hours, seeing this much gory violence on the daily cannot be good for your health.
Not here to argue idc if you play this game 24 hrs a day and you’re “perfectly fine” I promise you no one cares👍

I tried the full game trail played it for a hour didn’t like it gameplay too slow and stiff and graphics sucks , played Tekken 8 fell in love with it in 15 min lol that game is crack.

No wonder why those games are at the verge of death, just check out Tekken or Street Fighter playerbase and then compare it with MK, could have been great but instead as a typical megacorpo they went to simply sell the product and don't care about anything else

MK1 is only good to see the intros, brutalities and fatalities. Once you see that then there’s no reason to play this janky game…and I’m a MK fan.

MK1 by all accounts is a terrible game that’s designed exclusively for casuals who hate blocking and love throwing out specials willy-nilly.
The visuals are a downgrade from MK11 & the arts style is nearly indistinguishable from street fighter.
It’s quite incredible how Mortal Kombat which was once edgy, punk and sexy is now the most conservative of all the fighting games.
