Great comment, couldn’t agree more. I may be wrong - and I acknowledge there are recent series such as the Jordan - but magnificent sports doc films for the ages seem to be a thing of the past? Sports based but with engaging social/cultural/political underlying sub-plots. Perhaps not quite of the level of the two you mention many of the 30 for thirty €$PN docs were good value. I’m sure you’ve already seen but I loved their Straight Outta LA; and Of Miracles and Men
WWWK and Hoop Dreams, not just sports documentaries, but two of the greatest films ever made.
