The drummer is very underrated and under-appreciated on this track. I was one of those that never gave this guy much credit, until I started to learn this song on drums to play in my cover band.
Where most drummers in this era would play this more straight on the main groove and add big fills and accents where appropriate, this dude lays back and supports with a stealthy shuffle feel going on. If you listen close, he is using tom-toms throughout the groove, yet somehow it is not enough to call it a "tom groove". He manages to complement the main rhythm with the toms and give the percussion a faux half-time feel.
It threw me off at first....not because it is difficult to play, but rather because it is far more busy than I thought. What helped me was when I realized that he was mimicking the other rhythm instruments on the toms. So he wasn't just keeping time, he was incorporating drums into the composition.

Steve has one of the best most powerful yet smooth voices of all time. Steve made Journey as great as they could ever be. This is a classic performance that is immortal. I can listen to this all day and it will never get old. One of the greatest songs ever made. Elvis was t entertainer and voice this world will ever see. Steve is up there with the he Greatest voices like Elvis, Freddie Mercury, Phil Collins and M.J. From eras when there was REAL TALENT!!!!!!!

Also the Live version of Feeling that Way is pretty amazing! To see the duet is something pretty special.

I agree with pausing to much- i couldnt even watch this. It took forever for you to start as well. I love watching you youngsters react to my genre of music but let the group perform and enjoy listening to it. Rob Squad and Salvgo and very respectful of listening to the performance and are so excited about the performerance if they like it. For me - I just love to watch yall just be excited and amazed with the talents.
    Cheers

Journey was amazing live. Before the 21st Century, if bands couldn't perform live like the record, they didn't make it in the music business. YOU HAD TO HAVE TALENT to make it.

This was my first concert back in high school. Alb., NM, was a few days after or before this show. MOTHER FATHER for a note you won't believe.
