Just my sugestion would be to have mud flaps & wheel fenders on rear axles of your bottom dump trailers.I think they also look better than naked wheels,Farst AG had a new trailer with rear fenders & mud flaps check it out. Great videos Larson team keep em comming.
Chet, with those wheel bearings...what we do on our farm is drill and tap the wheel hubs and install a grease nipple, then you can grease and pack the hubs every season by just taking the cap off and watching the grease push out. only way they last.
We did it after every season with manure hauling. Pulled all the wheels to rotate them, and while they were off, checked/replaced bearings, did brakes if needed.
@@jayc3103 yes , larger grain carts and manure spreaders have brakes for stopping safely and avoiding drivers that have no idea about farming and the dangers. Only that food comes from a grocery store
Add a fiber wiper dust shield to the cylinder that take abuse. The hydraulic hose manufactures have a gauge to check the crimps, go no go gauge, I had a supplier that made many hoses that failed until they discovered the wrong die was being used.
rig some mud flaps in front of those cylinders. We did that to protect our def and fuel filler lines that were getting destroyed. We saw about a 90% decrease of muck

How close do the elevators check the loads when dumped? (i.e. oil drips from truck engine etc, rocks from chasis, load contamination, weed seeds et. al.)?
Is there any way you could install a make shift mud flap between the two hoppers in order to stop all of the debris from getting in the bearings? Maybe just a foot tall cnc cut to fit. Just wondering. Love the videos.
To protect those slides from most of the road grime, how about retro-fitting those long bristled brushes that are used on some trailers to reduce road spray ??
Have you guys thought of placing a stone rubber flap to the front of the hopper!? just food for thought to maybe stop the stones damaging your new hoppers bearings and hydraulics cylinders.
As long as the hose and the ends are from the same brand, you can do as they did by replacing the bad end. You do not want to mix one brand of hose with different brand ends.
Curious as to what your fuel treatment is and what you are accomplishing with it. Retired now but spent 42 years in the Diesel engine business and never saw a requirement for fuel treatment other than some lubricity for winter diesel.
This was a very good video I learned a lot. The truck drivers appreciate the hydraulic gates on the semi trailers. The barrel tipper is gonna be a great asset. We have a hydraulic hose maker but it is stationary. Can’t wait for the planting season to start. Stay safe see y’all on the next video.
Chet. Could you lower the two inboard tire pressures for roading between fields or is there a pivoting setup that would allow for both tires to equalize the weight. Stay safe and Happy farming.
Seems like a good idea at first but you would wear through those two tires a lot quicker than the others if you do that. Tires are more expensive than bearings
Hi Guys I don’t normally comment because no one ever reply’s 🤷♂️🤷♂️ I have a couple of suggestions for issues you mentioned The rear trap door opener been damaged by objects been flicked off drive tyres. Did you have any damage from the high winds or any snow thurs. 4/15? Chet you better watch so the hydraulic companies don't high jack the Big Swede to teach their people on how to rebuild cylinders. Excellent job.
I’m curious why you would choose hydraulic door openers over electric? If a hose ever let go just think of the potential mess at home or the elevator. Just curious they work well
For those cylinders that the BS was talking about taking rocks and road debris you should hang a rubber mat from the center under the trailer and it stops that we did that to our trailers keeps the salt down also in the winter
Hope Chet, Dougo, or the Big Swede read your comment. What a great idea. Seems like it would save not just the hydraulics, but general road salt corrosion, too.
How are you dealing with shortages and high prices of fertilizer and chemicals? Some farmers in my area, West Central Ohio, cannot get fertilizer especially nitrogen for corn. They have decided to use no fertilizer and plant all soybeans.

The bearing don't last in the back because of the flex. The trailer flex . be careful this year too every there. You have done everything a 100 times and in a hurry. When I worked hyd, repair I always put seals in boiling hot water. when they cool they shrink. I also used the hose clamp trick.
