We got rid of mold and stink by using products that a flood/fire restoration company instructed us on. This is what l would do. Back pack sprayer with chlorine mix, spray on concrete walls and floor and brush with stiff bristle floor broom. (Of course wear a respirator, we didn’t snd could smell chlorine for a week) Pressure wash again. Then let dry, few days to a week depending on humidity. Then get a paint sprayer and spray with Zinser BIN 123 or equivalent. It’s a liquid vapour barrier that locks in smell and mold etc. Used commonly on flood and fire restorations and even in homes where people smoked and can’t get smell out. Once dry, spray with a white kitchen and bath paint that has a mold and mildewcide in it. Can get cheap because most kitchen and bath paint has it. Will work awesome! Enjoy
Hey Chet: Tell Dougo to just buy a few dozen cases of those little auto freshener pine trees and just hang ‘em around the building. It’ll smell just fine. Captain Al from Tampa😎
Acid wash the concrete. Use a solution of muriatic acid. It will kill of the bacteria, molds and smell. It's inexpensive thing to do; mix one part muriatic acid to 10 parts water. Brush or spray the acid solution on the concrete, wait eight to 10 minutes, then neutralize the acid by spraying the surface with a mixture of one cup of ammonia in one gallon of water. When it's all dry, you can repaint it with Kilz.
Cant see that well but I think what you see on the concrete is loosely called Efflorescence. It forms on the interior faces of foundation walls, or on concrete slabs. Before using the power washer with the 0° tip spray on a good coat of concrete cleaner. Power wash with oscillating 0° tip. Then use epoxy paint. Depending on the type of epoxy you buy you may have to use a etching coat or a primer. Be careful if you cover any horizontal surfaces you should use the non-skid additive for your product. That suff gets as slick as snot on an onion! Anyway, have a good one. The opening Morning with the classes on is an instant classic. ***AWW FUDGE! I stopped at 6:30 to answer your question. Ok forget the paint. Use a good cleaner then seal the concrete with a good quality concrete sealer.
To clean the hog pit area and remove 100% of the smell you need to spray the entire area down with sodium hypochlorite 14-15% (mix it 50/50 with water and add a squirt of dish soap - use a backpack sprayer to apply). It will kill all the bacteria - you can powerwash 45 mins after you spray the area down (it needs to be left on the surface you are cleaning for a minimum 45-60 mins to work - but you must keep the area damp/lightly misted - if it dries then the sodium hypochlorite effectiveness greatly diminishes, but if you keep it slightly damp is best. It's best to do late in the evening after direct sun has gone or on a rainy/cloudy day. Before you spray the sodium hypochlorite - first spray the entire area you intend to clean down with water to prep it to help the solution penetrate the surface and any organic material.
Shapeshifter your statement is inaccurate and false. The only way to create chlorine gas is if the Hypochlorite is exposed to Acid - only if this happens will chlorine gas then be released. Without adding Acid to the Hypochlorite it is not possible to create chlorine gas.

Here's some ideas for the smell 1. Wash with Vinegar (including ceiling and upper walls), let it soak in on horizontal surfaces 2. Propane torch the concrete with broad head tip (weed type) ala "shou sugi ban" style 3. Button up the building and run ozone generators. Cheap high output versions available on AliExpress. Ozone can affect plastic and lungs, so watch concentration, but with that size of building it would be hard to reach those levels. 4. Get vapor rated masks for use when you're in the buildings.

Exactly. I used Drylock in our basement where ground water was seeping through & it sealed it. That’s probably less expensive than the FlexSeal products, but the FlexSeal coating would be a thicker, rubber based seal.
As a guy that has done mobile pressure washing for over 22 years. I'd use a zero tip or rotating zero which works better to lift off heavy build up. Then soak it in purple power if you can get it in the states if not I'll ship you some. Let sit for a few hours then blast off again. Acid will work for paint prep but will not remove the smell. Purple power cost a bit but is well worth it. I'd acid wash the white steel to remove most of the rust and make it super bright in there when you put some led lights in that space. But wear a rain suit cuz it burns like be stings when you get it on you

For the smell. Zylene based exterior concrete stain, they sell it at Lowes. I used it to seal in cat pee in a building, works really well, and it's not $100/gallon. Treat with hydrogen peroxide first, then acid etch. It's my shop floor and it's better than any epoxy coat I ever encountered.
try spaying it down with white vinegar it will help to get rid of smell you can do it a few times vinegar is real cheap and it works just have to power wash at the end again

Spray basement wall sealer on the wall to kill the smell and then cover it with pole barn siding. You can fur it out or put the metal right on coated cement with Tapcon screws. I would fur it out.
Pressure wash it again then spray on a muriatic acid or hydrochloric acid solution. It will etch the surface so paint will stick and should help get rid of the smell. Kilz would be the paint to seal it but it's expensive. I suspect the smell might permeate into a latex paint so an oil or epoxy based paint might be better.
Bring in a hot pressure that can inject detergent washer first. Then something like sodium hydroxide flake, wet it down, scrub with a brush, rinse and dry. Others have suggested Sodium hypochlorite, which will also work, but it's more expensive. Caution, wear the Yellow Tyvek and a respirator with ventilation. Mower Jeff, We had a sign in our farrowing barn office that said manure is a lot like money, its no good unless your spread it around. 1 day Gramma was complaining about the smell, because we had a huge pile of manure outside the farrowing barn, that we hadn't hauled away yet, and I won't use the choice words that Grampa said about her complaining, but he said she use to tell people when they would come to visit and say, wow that stinks, and Gramma would say, it smells like money to me, and now all she does is bitch about the smell, lol.
With the manure soaking into the concrete for all of those years you are more than likely not going to get much to stick to it. No matter what paint you use it has to be on a clean surface. sandblasting might be the only way to really clean it so that paint will stick.
If you wipe recoiling hoses with a rag soaked with Armour All, they recoil with less friction and it helps to protect the hose. It also helps to repel dirt from collecting on the hose.
They make a paint called Kilz and it covers up odors and hides discolored stans. Walmart and any big box stores cards it. Home Depo and Lowes also. Good luck guys.
Talk to your pressure washer guy that you get your equipment foam from. We use some chlorine based foam to clean our dairy barn. The foam really loosens crap off cement. As for the smell just spill some n serve or instinct in there to cover the pig smell
I agree with the 12.5% sodium hypochlorite and water mix 50/50, & a table spoon of Laundry detergent. Sprayed out of a back pack sprayer. Then rinse with a surface cleaner. For Dougo's paint I'd suggest RUST-OLEUM Elastomeric Roof Coating, you can find it on amazon for $20 a gallon.
Instead of sabotaging his own economy, my father would just make sure i had rolling up that hose on my list of things to do. Before i could do anything "fun". Learned fast it was just better to clean up after yourself while you are there, then having to go back and do it. Had to do it either way. Then again, i did not really respond to "threats" that much. Remember him taking the TV i had on my room after i had done something i shouldnt have (cannot remember what) The next day when he got home, i had "taken" his TV in the living room. And hid it in the woods.. I spent like 3 hours dragging that huge block of glass. 32 inch TV, those old big CRT ones. Yea it got lively at home that evening. We both ended up with our TVs back tho :P
you can tape some Febreze spray cans where they spray without you holding them and throw them in the pit once you get the door in. don't know if it will work just an idea
What do you expect after so many years of manure storage. It will be socked in the walls, but one point of hope is that all the smell you experience, has left the wall, is in the open air and will blow away.😀
Trusses put the weight on the side walls not the end walls of the building. NOT structural or weight bearing. They could take the whole end off with no issues.
Spray ceiling & walls with bleach and let dry on its own to kill bacteria. Then pressure wash with a rotary tip. Then paint on the oil base “kilz” primer paint. Then paint a top coat with an oil base cement floor paint.

Equipment is your forte. Leave carpentry to the professionals. Thank you for sharing.
When I was a kid and we raised hogs I was told that was the smell of money.
@Mower Jeff Hi how are you?
That's what my great uncle used to say. Yep, he was an Iowa pig farmer.
Sounds like something a ol bull hauler told me
@@somersfarm1921 Hi how are you?
A professional at home...well the farm, same as home to a farmer! 👍🇺🇸
@Leo McAvoy Hi how are you?
With the manure soaking into the concrete for all of those years you are more than likely not going to get much to stick to it. No matter what paint you use it has to be on a clean surface. sandblasting might be the only way to really clean it so that paint will stick.
Always fun trying to square up to an old building!
@Buster QHorse Hi how are you?
If you wipe recoiling hoses with a rag soaked with Armour All, they recoil with less friction and it helps to protect the hose. It also helps to repel dirt from collecting on the hose.
I'm gonna have to try that thanks
They make a paint called Kilz and it covers up odors and hides discolored stans. Walmart and any big box stores cards it. Home Depo and Lowes also. Good luck guys.
@Ralph Bennett Hi 👋
Would sandblasting work to get it out of pours
@Douglas McCall Hi how are you?
Concrete sealer should work. Hey! That would be a great swimming pool!
That shed needs sprayed with Spor-Klens. The price won’t make dougo happy but the results would. Lol.
Talk to your pressure washer guy that you get your equipment foam from. We use some chlorine based foam to clean our dairy barn. The foam really loosens crap off cement. As for the smell just spill some n serve or instinct in there to cover the pig smell
@Robert Quast Hi 👋
3-6% Sodium Hypochlorite the whole thing on the inside and another good rinse.
I remember growing up and if we didn't roll a hose up the next day that hose was only 5 feet. Dad didn't put up with lazy people
O
Instead of sabotaging his own economy, my father would just make sure i had rolling up that hose on my list of things to do. Before i could do anything "fun".
Learned fast it was just better to clean up after yourself while you are there, then having to go back and do it. Had to do it either way.
Then again, i did not really respond to "threats" that much. Remember him taking the TV i had on my room after i had done something i shouldnt have (cannot remember what)
The next day when he got home, i had "taken" his TV in the living room. And hid it in the woods.. I spent like 3 hours dragging that huge block of glass. 32 inch TV, those old big CRT ones.
Yea it got lively at home that evening.
We both ended up with our TVs back tho :P
Kilzs 2 oil base for the concrete
you can tape some Febreze spray cans where they spray without you holding them and throw them in the pit once you get the door in. don't know if it will work just an idea
Breze-bombs! If it's not a thing, it should be.
All febreze does is num you nerves in your nose
What do you expect after so many years of manure storage. It will be socked in the walls, but one point of hope is that all the smell you experience, has left the wall, is in the open air and will blow away.😀
That looks to be a structural wall so you are going to need a larger header to support the roof. Its going to sag and Dougo is not going to like that.
You're correct, surely they checked to see if there was a header above the ceiling. Because I know for sure there isn't one below the ceiling.
Trusses put the weight on the side walls not the end walls of the building. NOT structural or weight bearing. They could take the whole end off with no issues.

It will be a truss roof no weight in middle
@@rlmartinmanor Hi 👋
Spray ceiling & walls with bleach and let dry on its own to kill bacteria. Then pressure wash with a rotary tip. Then paint on the oil base “kilz” primer paint. Then paint a top coat with an oil base cement floor paint.
@Roy Walte Hi 👋
