- In 2003 Glenn Tilbrook, from the band Squeeze, played a solo acoustical concert in Boulder, Colorado. He was kind enough to let me shoot the show and do a brief interview.
This clip is from that concert.
I shot this on very short notice with a friend as a favor for another friend who had a connection with Glenn. It was done as something Glenn could use to promote his act but I don't know if he ever used it for that purpose. I called the DVD "Unsqueezed" but that was just a working name I made up for the show. There was never any intent to sell it, so it's been on a shelf all this time. Seemed a shame to just let it die there.
I had good sound and pictures, in spite of the bad stage lighting, and Glenn put on a great concert. This shows his act so much better than the other iPhone versions you see on You Tube.
The interview was done in 2003, so view it in the context of the time. Hope Glenn approves.
It's been fun seeing these old tapes again. I'll release them in small pieces over time so they don't take so long to upload. If you're a fan, I hope you enjoy the show.

The most UNDERRATED guitarist of the last 50 years!!!! hes amazing:)
Saw him at The Mean Fiddler in Harlesden, London in the late 80s. That's my memory, too. He was a savage guitarist. High energy, great vocalist.
He does a brilliant acoustic version of Voodoo Chile
I know I have done a good job as a parent when my 17 year old watched this mesmerized without moving and said nothing but "Wow, that was great!" I am also proud that he has had a Squeeze Playlist on his Spotify for over a year. And yes, he discovered them and asked me one day, "Dad, do you remember Squeeze?" Imagine how proud!
Wow, that’s awesome!♥️
If he had been born in the Beatles/Stones era, he would have been on the same pedestal as them, Glen is an outstanding talent.
Wow -- playing that solo on an acoustic without a cutaway... amazing.
Jim Davis The strange thing is the other guitar (on the stand) has a cutaway.
Total total genius, acoustic guitar mastery, just the voice and a presence that has graced every venue from stadiums to pubs. No one like him.
He's still so dreamy!
Even now, at 62, he's still so magnetic. Just saw them a week ago in Denver.
Such an underrated guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Thanks for this.
thanks for sharing... Glenn is a unbelievable guitar player.
Can't be this good without auto tune and I'm sure all kinds of post-production hocus-pocus, right? Wrong, this is rock genius and ridiculous talent. Notice he doesn't cheat the songs just because it's solo unplugged; he plays the whole song, no short cuts. Amazingly talented but sadly underrated guitarist, say nothing of his vocals and song writing with Chris.
Glenn is as real as it gets. Sometimes he will lead everyone out into the street and walk down the road singing, you never know.
Thank you so much for this. I love this beautiful song, and all the others actually. Such a private, sensitive man born with such a gift. I think he is one for the ages and will keep being rediscovered.
You must not know Glenn very well,no magic needed ,he is simply magic
The ultimate voice of “Power Pop”.
What a brilliant entertainer. A++++++ guitarist and singer :)
Unbelievable talent!!
Amazing - what a talent he is.
I'm in awe of his guitar and melodies. Squeeze was fantastic.
What energy throughout the 10 parts of this wonderful share. Love all the tunes but "Black Coffee In Bed " is most delightful. Love the fans and their participation beautifully orchestrated by Glenn. His guitar and his vocals are equally amazing and magnificent.
Thanks Glenn for sharing your gifts with us. I am so happy my Dear U.K. Man introduced you to me. It has been amazing this time with you.
Thanks to the poster and to you for allowing your tunes to be heard. :-)
A god of rock.
Love love love love love this! It must have been so amazing to be in the audience singing backup for him!
haha that solo is phenomenal - I once read that when he was recording this in the studio he edited bits and pieces together as they came to him - then had to learn it all 'properly' after the fact to reproduce it live (which he does fucking brilliantly)
The Fountains of Wayne certainly learned a few things from listening to Squeeze, so it must be a tremendous honor for them to have their song covered by GT.
Their lead singer has a new band and they're quite good. I saw Squeeze three years ago and his band opened for them. Wish I'd bought the CD.
I was born and raised on Utopia Parkway, so figured what the hell, and bought the album. Great songs! RIP Adam Schlesinger.
Love this guy
How can songs that are nearly 40 years old sound so fresh? I am so proud of my 9 year old self for saying Squeeze was a favorite band. Now my 9 year old says that.
Quality. Real talent.
Genius!!!
I love this- raw, fresh, and from the heart. Thanks for posting!
Saw Squeeze last Sunday, would not mind seeing Glenn solo or even , with the Fluffers. HE Rocks!!!
Saw him last night at The Ark in Ann Arbor - I was humbled by his guitar. If you ever get the chance, SEE HIM!
Thanks for sharing! Love it!
