Part 09 of 10-Glenn Tilbrook-The Truth-Pulling Mussels

  • In 2003 Glenn Tilbrook, from the band Squeeze, played a solo acoustical concert in Boulder, Colorado. He was kind enough to let me shoot the show and do a brief interview.
This clip is from that concert.
I shot this on very short notice with a friend as a favor for another friend who had a connection with Glenn. It was done as something Glenn could use to promote his act but I don't know if he ever used it for that purpose. I called the DVD "Unsqueezed" but that was just a working name I made up for the show. There was never any intent to sell it, so it's been on a shelf all this time. Seemed a shame to just let it die there.
I had good sound and pictures, in spite of the bad stage lighting, and Glenn put on a great concert. This shows his act so much better than the other iPhone versions you see on You Tube.
The interview was done in 2003, so view it in the context of the time. Hope Glenn approves.
It's been fun seeing these old tapes again. I'll release them in small pieces over time so they don't take so long to upload. If you're a fan, I hope you enjoy the show.
    Chuck

I saw Glenn doing an acoustic set in a pub in Greenwich back in the 90’s and have adored him ever since. True musical genius who is criminally underrated.

      "The" Terry Hall!? woah!
Anyway, I saw Glenn do an acoustic solo set a few years ago. Did not know what to expect. His guitar work is beautiful. And he is so pleasant and fun!

Glenn Tilbrook is an utterly incredible musician! Almost 35 years after Squeeze started, his voice is still crystal clear, resonant and amazing.

I half cherokee & I was named after my grandmother's brother that died in the depression in the mid 1920's. Tillbrook is probably the best song writer ever, but he's also one the best singers & just happens to be my all time favorite. Squeeze was very underrated. I think they are numero uno in my book.

This is such a treat. Absolutely love Pulling mussels and Glenn. It’s easy to forget just how good of a performer player songwriter Glenn is. His vocal range is still impressive too.

Phenomenal musician. So underrated. Was introduced to Squeeze in 1980. Saw them 6 times by 2000. Haven't seen them since. But now I have tix to 9/15/19 show in Arizona. So stoked!

    So, so good!
Glenn literally is the voice of my teen years! Squeeze was my first concert. They headlined at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island in 1982. The English Beat opened for them and REM (who no one had heard of at all at that time 🤯) opened for the English Beat.
I had every album and felt truly that they were the next Lennon and McCartney. So under appreciated in my opinion.
Thank you so much for posting this. He is truly an amazing artist and performer.

Vincent wow! They were three Great bands on one bill. Glenn was the voice of my 17th year, Mike Mills and Stipe imprinted my early 20's.

Does anyone have any idea what two chords Glenn is playing from 18 seconds to 22 seconds? Basically after between the G chord and the D chord? It's so subtle, and I tried for years to get it right, but I just can't work it out. I've always defaulted to an A major, but he seems to play two chords in succession, with a subtle difference. Please help, someone! @stephenward565 - any ideas?
