- Hey all,
Well, this was supposed to be yesterday’s Sunday Morning video, but Toni and I got swept away creating and mixing this track. I started writing “Einstein, 1905” a few months ago-our patrons on Patreon might remember me posting a little snippet of the first few lines when they came to me in the middle of some sleepless night. A couple months passed, I added more lyrics here and there when they popped into my head, and then on this past Saturday night around 6pm, Toni and I sat down to start recording the vocals and guitars. Before we knew it, we had pulled a coffee-fueled all nighter and still wanted to keep adding stuff because the song was turning into something totally unexpected. I originally thought it would be an acoustic guitar and vocals track, but as you can see, we went in a slightly different direction.
The next day (Sunday) we spent adding auxiliary things like bongos and the OP1 you see me playing at the mixing desk-a really fun little synthesizer I picked up on a tip from a friend a while back. I recorded the vocals on the SR40V microphone that Earthworks sent me to try out and was blown away by the quality. I’m going to make an in-depth video on the mixing process for this one later this month, so more on that soon.
Anyway, we’re really excited about how this turned out and it’s actually going up on Spotify / Apple Music / Tidal later this week, so if you’re into streaming music, look for it over there and give it a spin. This was such a fun little 48 hour project and it inspires me to do more of these creation blitzes. I guess that’s what the Sunday Morning series is, in a way… just an excuse to dive head first into a song each week, and hopefully learn something along the way.
I hope you enjoy Einstein, 1905.

Lyrics to Einstein, 1905
I've been travelling
at the speed of light
with all earth's history
in the wake behind
Einstein, 1905
he had it right
time stopped long ago
on this ship of mine
How my mother cried
and my father mourned
the girl I used to be
when I climbed aboard
And oh how it's clear to me now
the fare was more
than I should have ever paid
to leave those shores
But still I left
I climbed aboard
and I won't be round no more
All this time
where does it go?
Back to you
I suppose
I've been dreaming in
all greens and blues
the afterimages
of the world I knew
But Shakespeare way back in the year
Of 1602
reminds me above all else
to myself be true
So I go
I remain
and I won't come round again
All this space
what does it do
If it won't bring me back to you?
You don't need hyperdrives
to reach the stars
I've known galaxies
in a broken heart
And all my equations and lines
my graphs and charts
can't solve the mystery
of that endless dark
I am an old man, a retired musician, and I love Reina and Toni. Their music is the icing on the cake. Writing about Einstein. Excellent song and you can be my daughters or nieces any day. THANK YOU!
Hope you guys like "Einstein, 1905"! Check out the video description below the video to hear about how we made this one. :)
PS, are you picking up on a theme across the last few videos on this channel? Wink wink. Something cosmic is coming.
You are such a beautiful song writer with your own distinctive voice. So impressed. Thank you!
Great song, reminds me like Wilco, you should do any song from them, or better, do a collaboration 😘 Byeeee
I’m sure if you sing it I will love it.
The theme reminds me of Ben Bova’s “Stars won’t you hide me” for some reason
Liked it!! Good work!
"I've known galaxies in a broken heart." This lyric makes an already beautiful song stand out above anything I've heard recently.
Reina and Toni are such a gift to the RUclips community and world as a whole.
Those two beautiful lady’s and Josh and Carson 🤪😍😄
So true 😊🎶👌
So, so true. They just get better. Thank you girls..again!.
Beautiful...
I could not agree more @Abigail Henning
The best pandemic medicine there is. Musical medicine, cosmic nursing of the soul. thanks, guys. btw, At the end of song, fading the reverb for your last lines, that.. is.. Genius. "Spooky action at a distance", I'm tempted to say. Hit the like button, people.
I was really depressed today. This song made a connection to my soul and now I feel a bit better. So lovely.
Same
They do that to me every week
same like me. this all of reina song and cover just makes me feel better.
Don't worry be happy song is good be happy think about good time
Wow! Reina, you have the easiest songs to my ears! I do hope you become a mega start one day and take this nonsense out of the radio waves. Till then, don’t stop putting smiles on our faces with this! Oh and Toni, 🌹
This song had everything that makes you two special, musicianship, song writing, vocals. Well done!!!
Es una obra excepcional, enseño Física hace casi medio siglo y lo compartiré con mis alumnos y mis primas compositoras en NYC y Francia. Thank you from Patagonia, Argentina.
One of the best written songs I have heard in years. Thank you so much , it's just what I needed.
Very Nice. The melody reminds me, a little, of “Hold Me Before I’m Gone Forever,” one of my favorite RDC songs.
These two ladies have it all: beauty, talent, and wonderfully smooth vocals. What I like most, I believe, are the grammatically witty lyrics. What a beautiful mind from which they must come.
Riena is the only songwriter I know that cites references in her songs like a research article. I'd like to know how this song developed from a few nerdy lines scratched on the back of a napking into the masterpiece that it is; the initial vague melody, the arrangement into a powerful work of art (Toni's role in that?).
I just love everything that you guys do. I’m a big fan and I watch each and every one of your videos more than once.
Todo es bueno. !Podemos tranducir!

Well, I'm glad you got swept away - lovely song, and great to watch you making it. Love you guys, take care.
Una gran canción. Me encanta vuestro trabajo. Saludos desde España.🇪🇸
Acabo de descubrirlos... Los vellos como escarpias
Happy monday evening .After " Edge of the universe " ," Cassiopeia" , "the Theory of relativity ".Reina you're GREAT. I love you. ❤❤❤🙋♀️🙋♂️🌻🕊
Listening to this song makes me feel like a little scared boy crying in a corner and someone coming by, sitting next to me, putting an arm around my shoulder and just telling me: "it's ok. Everything will be fine..."
And i stop crying :)
Que bueno poder verlas y escucharlas otra vez!!!Se las extraña demasiado!!!!!No nos dejen sin sus canciones, son nuestro alimento para el alma!!! Gracias!!!!!
@@carlosalbertobarone9479 A mi también me encanta la música de Reyna y Toni. Ambas son excelentes.!!!! 👍
Reina, you and Toni make my world a brighter place. Thank you both so much. 💞
Hi Ladies, What a nice Monday evening surprise! Thxn.
(1) this reminded me of the fantastic “Hold Me” by Reina.
(2) I think RdC doesn’t realize how beautiful she is.
Beautiful. Not overproduced. Just right. On a side note, the early 1900s were a golden era. Tesla and Edison were both nominated for the Nobel Prize in physics in 1909. Neither won. LOL. Again, beautiful song.
You are proud of this song, and the arrangement. It ignited your passion, and this video became more important than sleep or creature comforts. You should be proud. The peaceful reassurance of the mood is unique and comforting. Toni's guitar arpeggios are dreamy. The entire arrangement is executed with flawless precision. I am grateful for the sacrifices you've made to bring this into existence. I pray that you remain centered, purposeful and fruitful.
"I've known galaxies in a broken heart"
this is really good girls ! the sound, the mix, the vibe, the groove, everything is so special in this song. great job! and tony plays drums/ bass better than guitar.
Rachelle and Toni that was such a Nobel song. It was so beautiful, in an Absolute way -not just Relativity-ly speaking. Your talents are Light-Years beyond your peers . Every Space-Tme I watch one of your
videos my heartbeat Accelerates because of the excellence of your playing and singing. After I finished watching this video I was overwhelmed by a Wave of emotion because of the Gravity of the lyrics of this song. By any Frame of Reference this video was the product of Genius(es). I'm not surprised- you guys continue to Eclipse yourselves every time you do
something new. I know that I dont have to waste my time Fission around for something else because what the two of you do is always something very Special.
Fantastic job,
You sent me to the 🌙 and the ⭐⭐⭐⭐.
Best review ever! ....relatively speaking ;)
@@Bluesphan I was really hoping that somebody got it .thank you for your compliment . I put a lot of Thought (Experiment ) into my comment before I wrote it. I have to credit my years as a student at the Bronx HS of Science, TV programs hosted by Prof. Brian Greene of Columbia (my alma mater ) and the miniseries starring Geoffrey Rush-im halfway through. I recommend it. 😊
@@daviddemar8749 Well cool...I had to Google that miniseries....looks interesting! Thanks for the reco...

You're welcome btw Reina's real name is rachelle Cordova. Reina means queen in Spanish and el Cid is a corruption of Al Sayyid loosely the Master/the Conqueror in Arabic
An awesome song with so much passion and history involved. I'm working on putting together my first few youtube videos on "space and science education". I would be honored if you'd be alright with me using Einstein, 1905 in my videos? And a big thank you to Toni and yourself for putting together some really beautiful music over the years!
Because of these two I’ve just bought my first guitar today at the age of 53. It may take me another 50 years to master it but the journey will be fun.
Next time you come to the Uk I hope you play the Tivoli Theatre in Wimborne, Dorset. Lovely provincial theatre, mostly run by volunteers and regularly played by artists such as Albert Lee, so you'd be in great company.
I just finished watching Curt Smith and his daughter Diva do an acoustic arrangement of "Mad World"

I really love your original music. I might be neat hear y'all cover some Nanci Griffith. Thanks!
I always love seeing your selection of books. You have great taste! Amazing song, too (speaking as a physicist and a guitar player). Can't wait for the next one!
Just watched and listened to this 9.30am in the UK, great song beautifully played. Set me up for the day. Now I can get on with sanding down the dogs kennel.
Happy Monday Soar(n)ing! Love your uni-verses, the new cos-microphone and the soothing s-pace of all your nep-tunes. You sa-turned out to be a Kossmic girl, I hope you'RE IN A spaceship yet? Bon Voyager 3! :) (c) 2020 Space Gram-mars.
Loved the song and loved seeing the books on your shelves. I didn't see them but if you don't have them I'd recommend Kim Stanely Robinsons Mars trilogy "Red Mars," "Green Mars," "Blue Mars" you will love them as much as I love ALL of your music.
This is just me , but I think a collaboration with , Shook twins is in order . Love your content !

So gentle, like the feeling of peace that comes over us when we realize truth. It can't get any better than an orchestra populated by these two. Lovely, simply lovely...
Massive props for the great taste in fiction on the shelf in the background.
Now that was well worth the delay. Thanks
Wonderful song!!! Fabulous lyrics!!! An interesting theme. Maybe time now for a song about Schrodinger's cat!!! Something like you are alive but feeling dead. Run with it.
Today the most important button on my laptop was...repeat...thank you ;-)
Wow, really a very good music, i am surprised! Greetings from germamy, Rainer!
Oh wauw - the spacey sound at around 1:35 and to about 2:00 (the chorus or B-part!? as it came twice) was brilliant! Really great song and great work on creating a really well-rounded soundscape! Wonderful! Thanks!
🖐Reina & Tony🖐 Sweet sweet music,🎶 your coffee fueled late nighters paid off👍I always love how you tie your verses to story, it’s spell binding, between listening to your voice, the lyrics, & the instrumentals. ⭐️Congratulations on another musical success ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👏👏
Please don't forget me when you make it big but I really like the way it is now.
It would be good to hear a re-mix, with your voice given a LOT more body, ie more bass and less treble - I feel it might suit the gravitas of the lyrics better - a question of prosody basically...
That sounds beautiful, i loved it.
Have you ever played "The Rain Song"? By Led Zeppelin
Another creative tour de force!
Hmmm... RUclips's notification system has been failing me for about a month or two... I no longer get email notifications when you post a new vid! I wonder if that DeJoy fella is behind it!
Thank you both for such a wonderful song. As a longtime science/music geek, I really appreciated the little touches that managed to exercise both halves of my brain simultaneously... The music half's favorite was the acapella ending. The science half's favorite was the song taking exactly 4:04 to complete. Well done! 🪐
Hey - a geeky ballad! Cool!! Nice arrangement. Keep on with the originals. Love the covers but you only get so far being a cover band.
Didn’t enjoy this one......
ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!
What a superb mix. Nicely done girls. Just keep doin’ what you’re doin’.
I’m missing the happy Sunday morning endings the last few weeks .... looking forward to next Sunday
That is such a good use of plug-ins on the vocals for the feel of the song. Everyone knows you two are good musicians, but as an effects-hound, this just sounds so cool.
Really really like this song. Tempo and Vox highs give it light and inspiration. You are great RDC - keep goin
Wow. Just wonderful. Thank you 🙏
Wow! I love all of the extra work you put into this. It sounds fantastic.
-Ben Aaron
Wow !! What a great song and an awesome arrangement and suburb mixing job !! The echo makes it ! Well done !!!
What can you possibly say about these two incredibly gifted young ladies that would do
them justice. I love you Reina and Toni and thank you for all your talent and for sharing your
music and time with us.
Jerry Brownell well said!
Love the song and what a beautiful voice!

Your voice is absolutely beautiful and breathtaking!!
Thank you for singing this wonderful tune!!
Did you write this song?
Is it your original piece?
Wonderful! I’m such a. Fan
I'm in a trance listoning to this. Reina's voice is so sweet and calming. Absolutely beautiful! Toni & Reina has a magic that very few can match. Keep making the world a better place to be, ladies. lOL. 🌹🤗🎸🎻🎶🎼🎵🇺🇸
I am very happy to hear such a great original song from you two. I am biased towards covers, I always think: that song is great and the cover artist is great = greatness.. safe bet! I should try out more original work. This one is super!
You are a superb songwriter. This is brilliant. Toni does some spiffy guitar licks.
Fantastic song. Thanks for sharing. Is there any instrument Toni can't play? Well done ladies.
You beat me to my own comment. Four instruments in the song alone.
Love your song writing, started on the covers, now glad checked out your tunes,, sweet music 👍🎵
Having a nerd-gasm at nearly the speed of light! Reina is one smart cookie! This song belongs next to Space Oddity and Rocket Man and, take a jump to the left: Time Warp!
Wow ❤ trying to think of words to describe how I feel but I'm speechless. ilyrdc & t
Probably my favorite performance to date... Beautiful!!!
Love this song. Love listening to you play and sing and Toni play and sing.
"Follow your bliss" a wise man once said.
You are truly a creative spirit. And Toni is such a great musical complement to your sound.

OK, I'm a lying, dog faced pony soldier.
What I'm trying to say is, you're great!

Alright, who down-voted this? I'm from the land of the Sopranos, and we are going to have a little talk!
I just love this song and your guys music. Keep up the great work.
This is great!
Apart from your amazing instrumental and vocal talents you have this unique capacity to provide so much positive energy that on my worst days is so healing and uplifting. I’m so happy to have found you! Thank you for all you do!
Superbly written and masterfully played!! One of your best ever!!
Another great video and masterpiece song! A+
👍Wow the music really takes you for an unexpected ride. Around the world in one tune.

Eric Schmidt, former CEO of Google, famously said, “The Internet is the first thing that humanity has built that humanity doesn't understand, the largest experiment in anarchy that we have ever had.”
Incidental??
Questa canzone è da pelle d'oca. Goose bump on me, Reina, this song is one of the best things i ever heard in my life. ❤
Finalmente qualche italiano!! :)
Love it, great production, great sound, super nice clear vocals. Well done.
What talented and beautiful women. Love you both! You bring light into a dark and desperate America.
I've been following you two as well as the Other Favorites for a few years. I missed your show in Memphis a couple of years back when you guys were touring together. The next time you guys come to Memphis...I won't miss the show. I hope you and the Other Favorites tour soon. Amazing talent!!
TOP NOTCH as always. I really like those lyrics. No doubt most people will relate to them. This could be your best song up to this point.
I love your music. I listen to it almost every day. Thank you for it!
How clean! Great atmosphere on this one, nice work!
Creating music is like an thought experiment. You create the music and lyrics in your mind then take the thought experiment to the keyboard or guitar or whatever instrument and see how the experiment can be applied. Then you make sure the results are repeatable.
Pure ear joy. This one is up there with ‘Bernadette’, lovely stuff. If only my coffee fuelled all-nighters produced work like this!
OK, this one is going to be on repeat for a while.
I don’t know how I missed this one. I’m sure I wasn’t hiding under a rock somewhere. Wow guys, I love you two and what you do. Thank you!
Time and space the great deceivers. Step in to that stream and it will steal your life away. Stand abreast and enjoy the journey. Great song.😎👍
Beautifully written. Beautifully sung and performed.
Happy Monday evening...Nice job. Nicely crafted tune. Love all the science references.
Reina and Toni, you can sing me to sleep every night 😘 Have a nice week❤️
I was waiting all day Sunday for the song of he day...I was bummed when nothing came up....BUT...this song makes up for it. Great job...so beautiful. I dont have to be Einstein to know whats good...and this is great. You and Toni are quite a team. LOL out to you two...
Yes!!! Fantastic :) I particularly enjoyed the synth-y instrumentals, that tone you're using has such a great 50's - 60's sci-fi vibe. What a wonderful chorus delivery too, particularly enjoyed that upward motion to an abrupt drop at the end of each line, particularly around the 1:45 mark. Wonderful!
Thanks for being a packet of shining photon energy to the world!
Got to love on our science gifted musicians!
Really beautiful lyrics and wonderful melody to accompany them.
