Thanks for reacting to this after I mentioned it in the stream chat last night!
To answer a couple of your questions, the tears are something that happens to pretty much anyone when they come into contact with The Beach (land of the dead) or things related to it. They appear a ton in the original game.
Heartman and Die-Hardman are different people, Heartman dies every 20 minutes to go to The Beach for 3 minutes to look for his family (not a spoiler). Die-Hardman is called Die-Hardman because he's survived through a lot of battle situations. He's the president guy in the skull mask. We don't know if he's in this game yet but he was that main tutorial character in the first game so I hope he is.
"Do the actresses know they do this in the game?" I'm wondering that too, lol.
