You are not in the minority. The vast majority of people loved TLoU2. It was only a small , but very vocal, group of online content creators and their fans that hated on the game for mostly 'woke' reasons.
It seems like everyone thought that the second part was lacking because Joel wasn’t in it… but he was there in spirit more than anyone. I’m glad people feel the same way I do… 😌
If I'm being charitable, the backlash against TLOU2 was that people didn't understand the character motivations and they were simply participating in the cycle of violence as a trauma bonding response that players couldn't process in context with the first game. If I am being uncharitable, it is because everyone dies and dumb people can't process loss, as the characters do in the game in real time.
No, Neil said he's keeping the story the same, he's just restructuring it. So they'll prob show all of Abby's backstory until it catches up to the present, and then THAT part will happen in season 3. They're gonna milk Pedro as long as they can.
@@pnut3844able I mean they’re obviously killing him sometime in the first episodes because we have to get to a point of Ellie and Dina in the train station and possibly even getting to the cinema.
It has already been alluded to, that the structure and chronology is going to make season 2 different from the game. Joel was made look more vulnerable than in the game in the first season, and notice that he is also sheading tears at the end of this teaser, not to forget the therapist at the very start, that has been added, so you can expect season 2 to be going in kind of the same direction in some places, unlike in the game.
@@agffans5725 yes, I definitely love that they changed that part- him being more vulnerable and aware of his issues. I totally missed the clock but definitely can see now she’s a therapist
Yea they made him more emotional in the first season as well, which I'm glad they did. Also yes, Neil said he's restructuring the order of the story. I'm thinking they'll show all of Abby's backstory first, leading up to the present, instead of jumping all over the place like they did in the game. Had they done that in the game, people would have gotten attached to Abby, and that moment would have been WAY more impactful and there wouldn't have been near as much backlash. I think Neil recognizes this and is changing it for the show for that reason
Pretty sure Bella Ramsey was 19 during the time of recording the season, which is the same age Ellie was. Isabela Merced is also about the same age as Dina's presumed age. Kaitlyn Dever on the other hand seems like 5 years older than Abby, which was just a few years older than Ellie. I think showing Abby at Jerry's grave is a mistake, because it makes it very obvious why she's going to kill Joel. I also highly doubt that will happen at the end of the season when we already see them in Seattle. Are we supposed to have them go there without any context? That would make no sense whatsoever.
@@Dark__Thoughts yeah, you might be right. They kinda have to do it in the beginning. And I guess I’m just old and everyone looks too young to me. But Bella specifically just LOOKS younger. It definitely worked for the first season but I guess I’ll have to see more. Maybe I’ll change my mind.
@@AyeDariaCaptain bella is 21. to me they look like a 21 year old that's just short. 21 is very young still. in the video game it was very easy to digitally make ellie look older but there's not much you can do for someone who is already full grown, it's been 3 years since they filmed season 1 anyway and if you look at bella season 1 episode 1 and look at bella now, there is a difference. :) we're all just used to 30+ yr olds playing very young so when someone actually plays their own age, they look younger. that's just me!

Spoiler warning ⚠️.......... I'll gonna throw my opinion in the hat, I don't like The Last of Us Part 2. I didn't like it when i played it back at launch and i still dont like it to this day. Over the year's, I've played this game at least 5 times so i feel like im educated enough to form my opinion on this game (i would hope😂) Also just so its out there, incase anyone thinks im not a real Tlou fan, i played the first game on my Playstation 3 over a decade ago (and also at a slightly younger age then i probably should have played it😅). Tlou is my favorite game of all time and i care so much about the game. Even as a teen, i knew this game was a masterpiece and the experience stayed with me. I even have both versions of it for Ps4 and Ps5 (im crazy 🤪) so no, i am a fan, a big one actually. (Oh god this is so long, I apologize😂. ) im gonna point out my biggest problems with bullet points. 1. Joel's death--- the most common argument i see is that Joel lost his edge from being in Jackson for 4 years and/or Ellie made him soft. There are multiple problems i have with these arguments. For one, Joel was actively going out on patrol with Tommy throughout his time in Jackson, so he wasn't just sitting on the front porch drinking lemonade. Second thing, you don't just forget how to survive. Yes, he was in Jackson for 4 years living comfortably, but he also spent the first 20 years after the outbreak being cold hearted survivor. Third, the player can guess that Joel lost his edge, but..... the game doesn't ACTUALLY show us that, believe me i looked and i cant think of a single time when the game shows us that Joel lost his edge. Forth..... NO, i will not accept Joel's death as a "its was just freak thing and random bad things happen all the time in real life". The writers wrote Joel to lose his edge at the beginning of part 2 to make it easy for Abby to kill him without giving us any evidence showing us that hes getting weaker. 2. Show, don't tell--- Alot of people call this game a vanilla "revenge is bad" story which to an extant is true, but the game is also about perspectives. For a story like this to work at its best, the game NEEDS you to sympathize with both parties. Since Abby murdered Joel, Naughty Dog probably knew that no matter how well they wrote her, there are some players that would still want her dead no matter what so i believe they decided to go the route of TELLING the player how to feel during the story rather then making us fall in love with the character on her on merits. At the beginning when Abby kills Joel, you need to hate Abby and want to kill her and get revenge for Joel. Halfway through when its explained why she killed him, you need to feel sorry or at least understand why she did what she did. During Abby's 8 to 10 hours of gameplay, you need to warm up to her, so by the end before she leaves to fight Ellie, you need to sympathize, like, or even love her, and by the end you need to forgive Abby or at least let it go. I cant speak for everyone but i can speak for myself, i think what Naughty Dog was going for with Abby was an interesting idea, but the execution was not good. Basically everything that i just explained has to work perfectly, otherwise this game is just gonna be a mess. If you believe Joel got what he deserved, your gonna be bored and uncomfortable for the first 10 hours of the game. If you don't sympathize with her dad after the whole 2 minutes of them helping the zebra, your still gonna be pissed at Abby. If her 10 hours of gameplay does very little to change my opinion about her, the end just doesn't work and is not as impactful as it should be. But don't worry, im gonna explain why Ellie is a piece of shit and Abby is a good person. Ellie indiscriminately kills all the dogs in her path while Abby pets and plays fetch with them, do you like her yet?? Ellie kills Mel (who is pregnant) while Abby spares Dina (who is pregnant) do you like her yet??? Ellie kills Owen who was trying to rekindle his relationship with Abby, do you like her yet???? Ellie is going on a murderous rampage to get revenge while Abby is killing people to protect Yara and Lev, DO YOU LIKE HER YET?!?!?! The game isn't giving me a reason to like Abby, the only thing i feel like it accomplished was showing everyone new and old characters are just bad people Third---(I promise im almost done😅) i didn't wait almost 7 years (2014 to 2020) for this. I didn't wait 7 years to watch Joel get killed by a golf club. I didn't wait 7 years to play as Joel's said killer and force me to try and feel bad for her. I didn't wait 7 years to watch Ellie turn into a murderous psychopath. I didn't wait 7 years to then hunt down Ellie and almost beat her to death, watch her cripple Tommy, and threatening to kill a pregnant woman. And i sure has hell didn't wait 7 years for Ellie to lose 2 of her fingers,"forgive" Abby and move on, and then end up alone which was her biggest fear from the first game......no, no fucking thank you🤬. Im not sure if im in the minority or not but I really don't care. I want to be excited for season 2 but i cant say i am because its basically gonna be part 2. I actually feel like one of these days i should make a full review of tlou2, probably will get alot hate for it but thats why its called an opinion😊
@@Sping20 I don’t think the game is trying to make you like Abby. The game in general is not about that imo. It’s about grief and how everyone handles it differently.
