The best advice I can offer you all is this: don't publicly post goals like this because chances are you'll forget all about it and 2 years later be embarrassed about it 😅 I HAVE improved, yay! But didnt put in nearly as much time as I said I would lol
Are you kidding me? Beautiful, and can sing, AND funny? Wow. I am literally starting to sing because of her. I had no interest in singing and hit the wrong button on my computer and her video came up. I couldn't stop watching. (I just subscribed)
i love belting : ) very freeing feeling... one tip i think is cool and i like is to try to mimick the sounds of instruments!!! especially trumpets, flutes. trying to direct and control the sound you create
Belting took a really long time for me. it took about 2 months for me to hit up to a G#5 belt. and now I can hit up to a F6 belt. I am so proud because now I can hit the Bb5 in Ariana Grande's song "Be My Baby". And usually most boys can hit up to a F5-G5 so i am really proud of my self and my full vocal range is "C1(LR)-F6(BR)-B7(WR)" AND I AM ONLY A 12 YR OLD BOY!!!!!! I AM SO PROUD OF MY SELF!
Coach Chef If you didnt know about belting technique so you can keep silent. Belting work nice with wider mouth and show teeth like you smile, it create more brighness and forward placerment 😐
You are so helpful! I love your videos, they make so much sense. I'm a singer, and can sing very high super notes, however, one thing I always struggled with was finding my belt. Along with private coaching, Ive been following your videos alongside, and my belting range has drastically expanded (an entire octave- to my amazement!) Thank you for your videos!!
My next door neighbors have retired. They knock at my door all the time for small things like my dog barks too much today, my boys scream too loud now they may complain about me. LOL
Just now..my mom ran from the kitchen to my room...to check if I'm alright😂😂... What do you expect me to say to her...when she asked me what was I doing??😂😂😂😂
Okay. Question. -I've been singing ever since I was a little girl. Like 3 or 4 yrs old. I'm 17 yrs old now and I'm going to turn 18 in a couple of months. I never took lessons, until a few months ago.-I sang on and off in chest voice and head voice. In middle school I was in choir for a year and sang in head and chest voice. -in high school I started choir my junior year. Only head voice. I didn't ever really sing in chest voice outside of school either. -this year (my senior year) I'm in choir again and I sing all the time outside of school. In chest voice and head voice. -I started voice lessons but we only use head voice. The lessons helped with my chest voice too, so now I sing in chest voice all the time. -In chest voice I can hit a C5 and C#5 and when I'm very warmed up I can hit a D5. I'm not exactly sure how to belt. I don't know how it feels. I don't know how to acces that part of my voice. I can sing in my whistle register so my range is pretty big. From an F# 3 to a C7 ( if I'm very warmed up, even higher). 1) I want to learn how to belt. Should I get a new teacher. One that does musical theatre or teaches chest voice and belting? 2) How far do you think I can get my voice to stretch? (Talking about chest/belting voice)
Ok so since u can sing up to C7 I'm guessing you're a soprano I don't know where the belt limit is exactly but I'm a mezzo soprano i have been singing since i was little but i recently started using vocal warm ups and that made me realise that i was doing it wrong for all those years. So as of yesterday (I started vocal warm ups yesterday) i can belt till C#5 and maybe D5 but after that i can continue singing till F6 but not belting I think (not sure) if u are going to belt in chest voice or mix u can do it in 5th octave maximum and then in 6th octave singers usually belt in head voice
My assumption is that this isn't where you start with learning to sing. For example possibly breath control would be at the very beginning. Could someone advise.
My goal is to sing Queen of the Night (Mozart's). Wish me luck................................. I have managed in the past, even if a semi-tone or one tone under the modern version but Mozart didn't write it that high. I am 64 and only started to sing at 58 but I will get there. Performed it once, went very nicely but haven't sung it in a long time. The words are awfully fast and English is my third language. Thanks for so much great advice, Freya... I am a big fan of yours! You are an amazing teacher!!!!!
Great video! How often do you think a person should practice these exercises to try to achieve a good belting voice? Of course it's different for everyone, but how long do you think it would take to reach their "perfect" belting voice?
Just found you, I love you!!! Will be catching up on your other vids! I will def do these exercises, and hopefully strengthen and expand where my "crack" is. Mine is quite low on the scale, and I've always wanted exercises to expand, even a bit. Now I'm going to see your other vids about strengthening that mixed and head voice (which I have quite a good range). I'm excited! Thank you!!
Well I am going to need a convenient place to practice this ! :) What I wonder is how much improvement these vocal tips can help my voice to hit higher notes?
She can sings all kinds of music..If she sings opera then she sounds like one.. She sings pop she sounds like one.. very talented singer and voice coach.. thank you Freya because of you, I learned how to sing and I discovered that I have a high pitch in me .. Even my previous voice coaches failed to discovered.. I’m really looking forward and excited to start the Master Class with Freya.. Thank you again Miss Freya for sharing your talent with us hopeful singers..❤️❤️❤️
Hi Freya! I love your videos, and I was wondering how can you sustain a belt easier? Any tips or exercises? And when I belt, it sounds like a reinforced falsetto, not really a full belt. How do you strengthen it? Thank you so much! I love your work you are amazing
my goal is to be able to sing the high E in Screw Loose. I'm almost there, im comfortably on a high C but if I go any higher, I either go into my head voice or it sounds like im yelling.
Thank you for making this video. I've always been a singer, but I had a nerve block in my neck and it's changed my ability. I feel after your exercises that maybe I can get used to my limitations?😢😢😢😢
Great video! Currently working on being able to increase belting range as well so this video is perfect! Just subscribed! it gave me a sense of how loud i should be so now I have a sense of definition.
There are some lovely starting points to a safe belt here, but as a voice studies student I do want to clarify a couple of things: Please allow a free vibrato when belting - this is an important part of the breath control that happens natural through the mucosal wave (vocal folds/cords vibrating) without this you are not stabilising the larynx with appropriate muscles. Also with belt, please make sure to look in to anchoring (using the muscles in the back to support the larynx). All the best in belting, please see a vocal/voice specialist before attempting such exercises.
Hi Freya - thanks for the great video. Sorry, I'm a bit confused, is this done as high as you can in chest or do you bridge through the passagio and let the voice go into head? I'm a male singer BTW
Dear mamI am learning singing and doing practice for 3 months almost regularly every day. I spend about two hours daily as follows: I drink 4-5 glasses of water and start practice with a VOCAL warmup using humming etc. for 15-25 minutesThen I start practicing scales for 30 min to 1 hour minimum. Then I sing my favorite songs for about an hour. The problem I am facing is that my voice is not getting stronger and it cracks a lot. I feel pain in throat every day when I start practice. Then after warm up it gets a little bit better but I never had a relaxed throat. Sometimes I feel some pain in the VOCAL CHORDS. I have tried everything I could such as Gargles, different types of herbal tea with lemon, ginger and honey, different lozenges in the market such as, Strepsils, Thayers, etc., and also ASPIRIN TABLETS. I donot get a permanent relief and voice keeps on cracking when I sing. My questions are:How can I have a string voice without any cracks? What remedies would you recommend?Any medicines?Shall I continue practice? Will it improve the situation or it will get worse?Did you have any student like me in the past and how did he/she overcome this situation of sore throat and cracking voice. Some times I take a vocal rest for a day or two but still it stays the same when I start again. Your help will be highly appreciated.Very best regards
M. A. AHMED You're singing for much too long each day. You have to work up to that number of hours singing. A warm up should slowly and gently expand your voice and your range, rather than just humming for 25 mins you should add in some more exercises. I would recommend singing for no longer than an hour every day, then slowly over time increase that by a few minutes every week. It also sounds like you may have some tension in your voice which is increasing the pain and fatigue. Singing should feel freeing, not painful or like a lot of effort. You need energy to sing, but not 'heft', and you need to let go of vocal weight as you get higher. I recommend finding a really good vocal warm up program - I love the one from Jeannie Diva - and then working on exercises for a maximum of 40 mins after you've warmed up.
Maybe you're singing with high larynx and too much tension in the neck/jaw. MAYBE! I had a similar problem some months ago. My voice used to crack a lot and it was constantly fatigued, so i took some lessons and discovered that high larynx was my problem. Find a teacher so he can tell whats wrong! it's the best way to improve without damaging your vocal chords.
M. A. AHMED I think it's because you practice singing for a very long time and over do it. Try to maintain it and give a break in between when you feel that your throat is in pain or something like that!

I can’t wait till belting and screaming in singing goes away and we get back to plain old beautiful singing.
the best way to reach high notes with a rounded voice and effortless, drop your JAW and create the "O" sound. you DO NOT open your mouth horizontal.
Coach Chef If you didnt know about belting technique so you can keep silent.
Belting work nice with wider mouth and show teeth like you smile, it create more brighness and forward placerment 😐

But she sounds like an opera singer at 1:04. Can she belt that note in a way that sounds pop, R&B or rock?
NYCzora Well, that is still belting, that high I don't know, that would probably damage your voice

Idina Menzel is the queen of belting!
