u were that woman on aladdin! the one that sang ‘still i think he’s rather tasty’ when you sang that line, i literally got chills no joke, i loveeeeee your singing!
These were things taught to me by my voice teachers and speech pathologists and have sustained my voice and career for 20 years. So in that case it works. The proof is in the performance.
There’s a certain break in my voice when singing higher where I suddenly switch to a head voice and get kinda breathy (or sounds like I’m screaming). Any advice on how to get rid of/minimize that break in my voice so I can sing smoothly?
Try to sing in the mix. The mix voice is a blended register of head and chest voice. Most people cannot suddenly sing in the mix, they have to develop it. To smoothen that break you can try sirens and twang exercises (around and above the break). There’s more things you can do but those can certainly help, you should look it up
@@emilyrose3490 one of the tips I’ve heard is similar to the one in this video- You make sure you’re vibrating your sound to right behind your teeth,, and also direct your air to the top of your mouth- to the front of your teeth.
Honestly you need to access mixed voice to safely belt high. Arianna uses mixed voice A LOT. It's something broadway singers are known for. Mixing head and chest voice together. Speech level singing is the technique for this

Oooo I can't wait to try the bubbling! Thank you so much for a fresh take, I actually don't know anything about belting I've just sung so my life and I don't think I can belt much. Thing is, singing teachers and RUclips singers, and yourself, talk about vibration on the face...I really can't feel it anywhere, no matter if I hum loudly, raise my soft or hard pallet, make sure loads of space is in my mouth, but if I sing low notes I can just feel it a little work my fingers. But that's only on low notes. I'm realising that singers can actually feel it in their face without using their hands? Am I dead? :+)

Thanks for some great exercises Marisha. I like using the n'ya and straw phonation, commonly known as SOVT exercises in my studio - not neccersarily in belt singing. @@MarishaWallace thanks Marisha, I never doubted the exercises don't work for one minute - I use them in the studio and love these two exercises. I also happen to love your performances and have been following your wonderful career, so please don't see this as an attack of your work, it is not, I was just unsure about a couple of statements in the video which claim to be science led. This was the reference to head, chest and mixed voice - all commonly known terms, that are great if we know what they mean... would love a video of you explaining them. As we know there is no such thing actually as a head/chest and mix voice, - which we try - Whilst these terms are used so commonly, it's important for us as teachers to know what they mean and how to explain that. These are four patterns of the vocal folds (cords) , head voice = thin vocal fold M2, chest = thick, M1 (also vocal fry and whistle) . There is no inbetween pattern that causes a mix voice, however, we are referring to resonantation - these two exercises are perfect for resonation and habillatating the voice healthily. I just would love to know deeper when you mean when explaining these videos as for some people they could become more confusing. People may be scrambling for a voice in their chest or head that they can't actually feel. Hope this helps and would love to see more videos with deeper exploration.

hi!! i’m not a professional by any means, I have just been teaching myself how to sing for 3 years with a variety of tutorials here on yt. It will be much easier for u to learn chest/head voice and hit the notes u desire once you have good breath support. An exercise you can try is inhaling ONLY thru ur mouth and exhaling thru your mouth making an EE , EH, AH, OH, OU sounds while holding below ur ribcage (where ur diaphragm should be). Feel free to add vibrato to it too! This will teach you how to create notes while simultaneously teaching u vibrato and a foundation for riffs/runs.
