I find practising in the car extremely helpful. Just drive to a quiet place and practice things that you would never do when people are around. Accept that it will sound shitty for some time, but you will make progresa and also gain confidence in your singing voice! Good luck :)

Hi there :) My mom's often home as well and she doesn't like me singing at all haha. What works for me is definitely breathing into my...abdomen/tummy/belly? (I'm German, might come off weird with the English language haha sorry!) Yesterday I tried laying on my back and sing. It actually helped and worked better than I thought it would have! Because you're forced to sing more correct. (neck stretched, breathing must be controlled etc) Pls dont give up, it's so much fun and you will become better! I wouldn't have thought of it either haha!✌🏼🥰

    • @Hope-si1kb
      @Hope-si1kb 4 года назад +370

Your voice is probably breaking because you are singing out of your range. That and you probably aren't doing vocal warm ups or drinking enough water. I suggest finding a RUclips video that helps you find your vocal range. And if you end up having a small range, it's okay because you can grow your range to grow higher. It takes time, but you can. I suggest Jacob's vocal academy on RUclips. He has vocal warm up videos and videos to help extend you range

The thing is that the voice you hear in your head is not the same voice other people hear. It is because when you sing, you hear the sound waves coming from your mouth, but you ALSO hear the ones that take a shortcut THROUGH your head.
Other people only hear what's coming through your mouth. The only thing you can do about it is to record yourself and listen to it often. Get to know your own voice and how it sounds outside of your head only. I hope that makes sense :)

    Tips
    1) do warm up everyday (u just hv to force urself until it becomes a habit)
    2) pick one song and sing after a month to check progress
    3) vocal care is very important
    4) be comfortable with ur voice (Ik it's hard but u just gotto do it. Not everyone in this world is
deaf. Naked truth: if you wanna improve u hv to step out of your comfort zone)
    5) do more research on singing vocab so u understand what ppl are talking abt
    6) try different technique and don't try to sing like ur fav singer cause ur not them ( sing for urself)
    7) Just work hard, there's no easy fix to this you just have to work hard even on days u feel like you don't want to. You just gotto do it.
    8) don't hard on urself. Be patience. Remember singing is a skill u have to learn not something ue born with.
Knowing how to properly breath will help you with sing better. and have a lot of other advantages

      @thejacksonluciaduo1214 4 года назад +367

It’s that “I’m” in I’m so into you, into you, into you.
You are not hitting the right note on the “I’m” it might feel to high. So instead your are trying a lower note but that is making you change keys, as the note your trying is not in the key of the song.
      You simply cannot do that.
If the highest note is too high bring the whole song down in key. Try the song in a lower key.
Changing key randomly in a song is bad and a complete no no! just stop that!!

It's like if I'm in a karaoke I get nervous af and wouldn't sing because I know I'm singing, I know what I'm doing. But sometimes I listen to music and I started singing without realizing I actually am, it's weird. But if you tell yourself like "Sing this" and stuff it becomes uncomfortable, but if you don't and just put the music you really like, it comes naturally.

She was off key when she did that part. The rest was amazing ♡ once she gets that key right shes mastered it. I think the reason why she went off key is because shes playing the song in her head and I think shes trying to follow the key in her head, but when she reaches the "I'm so into you" part she realizes that ariana grande goes higher than the notes she sings before hand.. so she switched the key to make it less so that she wont have to strain to sing that part so high

I appreciate you posting this. I’ve taken almost identical path as you have, in self teaching myself on how to sing properly (endless videos, Spotify playlists of warmups & excercises - Jacobs Academy etc., mobile apps - apps that track pitch have been vital & then the actual recording & listening of my voice to familiarize & discover my tone & the strengths & weaknesses, also vids of myself singing to spot any tension or other red flags). The hardest part is the uncertainty that comes as a result of being self-taught, & the insecurity of wether I’ve interpreted or applied info & principles correct, even in the face of what I perceive has been progress & success. There’s always a looming wonder if im achieving it in the right or healthy manner.
So, to not only hear the story of progress from an individual whose methods & ideals in learning the new skill, are similar to my own, but also getting to hear the progression first hand & seeing the visible proof, has given me a great deal of comfort, knowing there’s someone out there learning the same way I’m doing it, and it’s worked. And so maybe it’s ok, to feel ok, about what I felt I’ve improved on myself. So Ty again!

All the information you provided is applicable and so true, however, if I may point out something out of personal experience, I do believe that at some point, there has to be some sort of guidance, and doesn't have to be long term, since you're already aware of so many aspects of singing, but it's always important to have a vocal coach to guide you and push you forward, someone who will use their knowledge and expertise to help you unleash your full potential, and some aspects that you might not discover on your own. You have a beautiful voice, keep going, and concerning your pitch, there are some exercises you could do to train your musical ear that would help a lot. Good luck!

no u don't hate ur voice . Have you ever felt that when you sing, sometimes you sing too good and u can't believe it. U are a amazing singer. Trust your self never listen to others . My family members always tell me that I m screaming. Sometimes I feel bad but just ignore their words why? , Because every singer in the starting is not a perfectionist we have to practice to be perfect at singing so never listen to anyone we can prove them that they were wrong and you can do much better. Never stop singing or any activity that u are into .
Even famous singers also practice to improve themself . If anyone discourage you then listen from one ear and let the words go from other. Be happy. sing for you. Trust yourself
All the best for future . Good look👍😊

When it comes to pitch try picking up an easy instrument or play a long with a piano. Like even playing with a guitar in tune will help you have something to compare too. The other thing you could try is ear training and try to get a little more natural feeling of what the pitch feels like and sounds like

This video is so fully of honesty and the best one I've come across. Just like you I've also have done the research and made the similar conclusions. Practice singing, when you practice singing the songs you like, each time you sing along with your favorite song, you'll notice slight difference in each verse/chorus. Improve on those, try to sing exactly like the singer provided you have a similar voice and your voice goes with that kind of style (Don't force yourself, bad for vocal cords).
Practising is the key. Exercises/Warm ups are so very important. Just like an athlete warm ups his muscle before his session, a singer must warm up his/her vocal cords before singing. Lip rolls, trills are good.

Sing with a tuner! It does require you to know the name of the pitches you’re singing, but it gives you a visual reference.
Training your ear will help a lot too.
You can also try cupping your ears while you sing. Being truly tone deaf is pretty rare. When most people struggle with pitch, it’s because they can’t hear themselves properly. Cupping your ears will help with that.

Another tip to help you avoid changing key while singing and going off pitch, is listen and feel the music! Listen to yourself carefully AS you sing and you’ll be far more self aware when something is off and you’ll automatically stop yourself or start again. 🙏🏾❤️ inner critic can be useful sometimes

thank you for proving that theory, i love to sing and when i was little my parents would always influence it and encourage me, i started singing loudly and proudly in schools and choirs and then people started commenting on it, like my bullies and stuff, it effected me so much i stopped singing loudly and i’d try to suppress my voice while singing cause i was scared that people would hear me even in my own house. i could’ve gotten somewhere earlier with this if peoples opinions ruined my mind so young. i didn’t even sound bad they just wanted to hurt me it’s so sad

Aww this video was so awesome! Lately I had been feeling a bit unmotivated because I've had a couple things get in the way as of lately and haven't given myself some time away, so this has sorta rekindled that flame. So, thank you Kayla! 😊
