One thing I forgot to mention is that Marvelous Designer has this awesome remesh button where you can do retopology with ease and make your mesh clean. Clo3d unfortunately does not have this feature.
Hey Stephy, i'm new in your channel, I wonder if you have a video teaching how to work flow from marvelous, substance, etc, until getting the clothes to work in unreal4?.. thanks
@@Naniizar Heya not yet. I'm currently creating a Domestika course which talks about combining MD/Clo3d, Substance, Cinema4D workflow. This course will be coming out soon.
CLO it is! the only downside is that clo dont have as much tutorials as MD (yet!!) but I believe that if you wanna start in CLO its really possible that you watch some Marvelous tutorials and adaptt them ^-^
Yes absolutely, Clo3d and MD are very similar, you could watch an MD tutorial and translate it into Clo3d quite easily. Clo3d has their own youtube too if you want to check that out 😁
Thanks so much for doing this, really! Your video was super helpful for me. I'm a fashion designer who wants to make clothes and sculptures for video games, but since my country isn't big on tech, there's not much demand for 3D garments from local industries. So I wasn't sure which program to use, but now I've decided to go with CLO3D! By the way, quick question: If I design something in CLO, can I export it to Marvelous and keep working on it there? Thanks again! This reminds me of the old debates we used to have back in uni between fashion designers and graphic designers over which program was better, Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator. Good times!
Hi Stephy!! Your works are so amazing and has inspired me as a designer. Currently in my last year of uni (graphic design) and I’m just starting out with 3D Ive been using my MacBook Pro 2017 which struggles or is super slow Was wondering is you could recommend laptops that is rlly good for 3D rendering Thank you!!
Heya! I recommend looking at recommend specs for the 3D program you want to use. I.e. look at recommended specs for Blender or Cinema 4D, that will give you a good benchmark for you to know what machine to buy. I also recommend desktop PC more for 3D but there are some laptops out there that can also work with 3D.
Here are my current specs for my desktop pc: Processor: Intel Core i7-8700k Motherboard: Asus - Prime Z370-A PSU: 850W Antec HCG850 Gold Ram: Corsair - Vengeance RGB 64 GB GPU: MSI RTX 3080 VENTUS 3X 10G OC HDD: 2tb SSD: 256gb x 2
Dear Stephy! Thanks for sharing these informations! So helpful! I am a trained fashion designer but working as a freelance textile Designerin I would love your opinion if you think Clo3d is a Software I should master and if it would be helpful for me. I am designing prints and pattern for fashion and home decor and I think it would be cool to put these on 3D garments..but I don’t won’t to do my own pattern (I mean the garment itself). Do you know if there are ready to use garments as files? Like a basic dress etc? I would love to know your opinion and help! I am thinking about taking a course and these are pretty pricy.. so I am but sure :) And another question. Are these softwares only for cloths or could I do other things like ..I don’t know..pillows? Blankets.. Or would you recommend a complete other program for me to learn? Sorry for all these questions😵💫 Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!
Hey of course, clo3d would be perfect for you. You can make anything from fabric in clo3d i.e. bags, pillows, curtains etc. I recommend learning all the free resources on RUclips first before paying for a course. Clo3d has their own youtube channel which you can follow. There are preset patterns already in Clo3d. You could go into clo3d and open up a dress pattern and then add your own textures on top. Hope this helps :)
Hello. I've been trying to figure out if I will need to get both or not as I want to design garments that can be used in unreal engine, but also be exported into the real world as someone with a Costume Design and construction background. Is it correct that MD allows import of any OBJ (like a tent structure) while CLO just accepts characters? Does MD have ANY functions that ClO does not have aside from the retopo functionality that I could potentially use Blender for?
Both clo3d and md can have obj's imported into them. I'd say, if you need it for real world manufacturing then clo3d would be a better fit. IF you were only just working in Unreal then MD would have been enough.
does clo3d run any better than marvelous designer? MD11 runs so slow that it takes 1-3 minutes for anything to load, and all the guides on how to make it run faster don't really do anything. when i say "slow it do anything, i mean that i load it up, load in the avatar, and try to make draw my first 2d design on the 2d plane, then i get the "not responding" error, and have to wait a minute or 2 for it to load up the 2d square i just drew edit: just did a small test to see if it was a custom avatar issue. turns out it goes slow as molasses in the freezer even with the stock avatars
I built my own desktop pc, here are the specs: Processor: Intel Core i7-8700k Motherboard: Asus - Prime Z370-A PSU: 850W Antec HCG850 Gold Ram: Corsair - Vengeance RGB 64 GB GPU: MSI RTX 3080 VENTUS 3X 10G OC HDD: 2tb SSD: 256gb x 2
@@stephyfung That's really amazing... you have built your on pc.. if it's not personal, can u please explain like for exactly what purpose does this pc serves.. I would be really interested in building my own 😊🥰...
You would need to do that in a separate 3D program i.e. C4D or Blender. Clo3d and Marvelous Designer typically only allows one model to be avatar at a time.
Hello, how can I use Clo 3D to get a seamless panty? Because it is seamless and seamless, I don't know how to express it in the software, other sewing is very easy. Looking forward to your reply (Google translate 😅)
U can download crack one to practice since we don't have enough budget on it or not sure we will become a designer in the future. As long as not using in any commercial business it won't be illegal.
Hi, I am 3D Artist but i feel like going for Clo3D to create garments and stuff, it seems more refined. I won't have any issues with it in my 3D and animation workflow right?
This video was immensely helpful. Just pointing out that it's called "Clo three D" and not "Clo free D" (it sure as heck isn't free! haha) anyway thanks for making this, I'm sure it's helped a lot of people :))
Both are buggy software, that rips off its customers selling bugged half finished software. I mean a software that is designed to make clothing, can't handle poke thru or large amounts of cloth...LOL i been working with both for over 3 years. Its a hell scape and the part I always dread. Lets not mention the subscription price ripoff for entry level people. I mean you want some kid trying to learn how to 3D fashion 39 dollars a month....

That's a huge deal. Bummer.

Thank you for creating this video!🙏🏼
Clo3d just sold me on ar format. Exactly the info I was looking for. 🙏 You
Amazing! Yes they support AR format which is great :)
Can you do more videos like this? Maybe even tutorials? I really enjoyed the video!

For sure, especially if you don't use any other 3d programs.
