I’ve heard how hard it can be to get a good interview out of Bryan. You’ve done that here because you’re totally on top of your game. Within the first two minutes you can see Bryan acknowledging this to himself. From an aging journalist to a young one: Nicely done.
Bryan Ferry is a cool classy courtly gentleman rocker who is always mannerly and civilized in interviews and the interviewer respected that in this short take.
The Jazz Age is an incredible album. This is like the jazz my dad used to play for me from his records. He was a trombone player. I can't believe it's all new recordings. Great musicians. I've never seen a bass sax before.
I discovered them in high school at a used record shop. I bought every album I could find bc their covers were so gorgeous. Went home and hoped they were good. I wasn’t disappointed :) still a fan.
+bill gedeon More Bond trivia, they tried to sign Brosnan up but he got called back to do another series of Remington Steele, so Timothy Dalton got the next few films.
I have found all these British Masters interviews to be quite thorough, but this one ???? I cant believe the question was missed about Ferry / Roxy influencing Japan influencing Duran Duran.
I agree about Robert Smith. I've always found him funny & delightful, although his collaborations with Blink 182 & praise for Ashleigh Simpson in recent years have made me die a little inside.
Bryan Ferry in Roxy Music is a mix of Classy Humphrey Bogart and Elvis Rock Crooner. Roxy Music promoting "Glamour" ? Nah... It's a tongue In cheek joke like when 70's teens wore Army Jackets as poking fun at the Establishment or like Rene Magritte wearing suits & ties -Surreal Artist
Bryan's early vocal inflections are clearly influenced by Bob Dylan, that talkie/whiny thing. You can hear in early tunes as 'Virginia Plain.' Bryan is openly a big fan of Dylan, covering his songs and even the album, Dylanesque.
i thought 'all of this' with blink-182 wasn't that bad at all but yea his last album was .. not very good if you ask me apart from lets say the last 2 albums i thought everyhing robert smith has ever done was of top quality including the rarities & B sides
Possibly the best dressed man in the country, after Prince Charles (who with "his" wealth has no excuse not to be), and they're beginning to look more than a little alike too! Wonder if he knew Jimmy Savile?
@@mildredsparks6684 You don't think that Ferry looks like King Charles III or you doubt that he knew Sir Jimmy Savile? If the latter; the photographic evidence is out there that Savile knew virtually everybody "worth" knowing, from Mohammed Ali to the Pope!
@@MisAnnThorpe He looks nothing like Charles now or ever and did not move in Savile’s circles. Photos of Jimmy Savile exist with every star of the day. There’s no record of them ever being acquaintances let alone friends. You must be very naive and gullible as well as oddly embittered.
Roxy Music, one of the greatest bands period. Incredible.
jmgmarcus manifesto is a masterpiece

He’s like a lounge singer from space, absolute love his work.
"A celebration of normality." Thank you Bryan for being so completely suave and elegant.
Yeah what a great sentence that is.
Yes, as opposed to saying “that’s Mountain Warehouse staff, there “.
What an absolute Gentleman he is.
Ferry is hands down one of the most eccentric musicians perhaps the rock world will ever know.
Bryan Ferry is a cool classy courtly gentleman rocker who is always mannerly and civilized in interviews and the interviewer respected that in this short take.
God does he ever age... he’s 73 now ... incredible
Pure English class: a true gentleman
On the contrary he's a Working Class Hero. One thing the Upper Class can't buy is true Class. Just look at Boris Johnson for proof of that.
An amazingly talented artist and a true gentleman indeed. Great interview!
LOVE THIS GUY! saw him live 2 weeks ago he kicked ass!
Bryan Ferry is the most scholarly musician I've ever listened to
The Jazz Age is an incredible album. This is like the jazz my dad used to play for me from his records. He was a trombone player. I can't believe it's all new recordings. Great musicians. I've never seen a bass sax before.
Love the first four Roxy Music records but there is great stuff all over their discography and Bryan Ferry's solo stuff.
met him in the 70s - such a gentleman
he was and is amazing
The impeccable gentleman. Bryan Ferry probably sleeps in a full suit & tie. Always sharp.
500 likes? This should have a million.
The boys and girls album is phenomenal
I discovered them in high school at a used record shop. I bought every album I could find bc their covers were so gorgeous. Went home and hoped they were good. I wasn’t disappointed :) still a fan.
In future videos, please can that droned accordion type sound be off during the interview please!
Brilliant artist, seen him a few times.
He seems like a very magnetic laid back sort of guy.
he looks fckin awesome doesn't he
Gabriel Byrne should play Ferry in the biopic and either one would make a great elder James Bond.
Too old. Tom Hardy sounds and looks like a blonde version of him.
he's even more stylish than david bowie , and that's saying something..
Flappo Spammo
Class Act
Flappo Spammo *conservative
not by a long shot.
Avalon. Brilliant Album.
We need more Bryan Ferry's and Roxy Music's 👌
The TV show Berlin Babylon uses some of Bryan's instrumental music--sounds authentic to the era.
I love roxy music
Love to have a coffee and a chat with him . 💕
OWOW WHAT AMAN HANDSOME MAKES GREAT MUSIC .STILL .GO BRYAN .NEVER STOP.
Ferry, was considered for the Bond role after Roger Moore quit..
+bill gedeon More Bond trivia, they tried to sign Brosnan up but he got called back to do another series of Remington Steele, so Timothy Dalton got the next few films.
wow I want to live in that world...
a man of his time and many others thank you bryan xxx
Bryan ferry is your love strong enough
Bryan is awesome!
Ferry is the perfect combination of James Bond, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Count Dracula; there was no way that plane was gonna crash with him on board!
One of the best interviews I've seen
Saw this guy in 84 Toronto class act !
This is great.
Good idea John! Thanks! Check that hair Bryan! Windy outside?
(methinks he's holding the record 'cos his questions are on it)
What a cool guy. Always has been.
The reverse guitar backing music is so annoying. Great interview though!
I thought that at first, now I love it
Bryanferry is your love strong enough
I like the laid back style of the interviewer.
Some more insight into Bryan Ferry's makeup! Thanks!
I have found all these British Masters interviews to be quite thorough, but this one ????
I cant believe the question was missed about Ferry / Roxy influencing Japan influencing Duran Duran.
This man is a musical genius and all you ask him about are his suits and the airplane incident? Or is there a part 2 that I've missed?
That is not true.
Thank you!
Interviewer knows his stuff and gets a lot from his questions
In no particular order of preference how about interviewing David Sullivan (ex Japan), Scott "farty" Walker, Alan Rankine, John Cale and Vini Reilly?
Sylvian
Sullivan.
MisAnnThorpe Sylvian or Gavin Friday
Felt that was cut very short but what was there was enjoyable.
Same here
He s so natural laid back
Maybe hadn’t oo much going on that day ❤️
Brilliant film - but so short!! Encore!
It would be interesting to see you interview John Foxx (on whom Roxy Music were a big influence)
I would love that too, but I'd prepare to cry if their personalities are reflective of their music.
They were considered freaks when they started. But they started... something big.
Interactive transcript? Where does one get such a thing?
was the interviewer required to hold that record up the whole time?
Great interview.....although the subtle background music was a little freakish!!
awesome!
I agree about Robert Smith. I've always found him funny & delightful, although his collaborations with Blink 182 & praise for Ashleigh Simpson in recent years have made me die a little inside.
CANNOT FUCKIN WAIT TIL JAZZ COMES OUT here in the U.S. Rock on Mr Ferry, Rock On.
Won’t be no rockin’, just a whole lot of swingin’
What a Handsome Man he is❤

;-) xxxoooxo
Love Manifesto!
Okay, I'm not the only totally heterosexual guy out there to say I had a man-crush on Brian Ferry, am I?
Super Geordie got the clap on a t-rex promo

What are the words on Summer of Love?
GENTLEMAN!
I thought this interview would be...more than this
Funny, but true!
Terrible interviewer... and that annoying buzzy music
😅
Good Question!
Didn't have him sign anything....?
i thought 'all of this' with blink-182 wasn't that bad at all
but yea his last album was .. not very good if you ask me
apart from lets say the last 2 albums i thought everyhing robert smith has ever done was of top quality including the rarities & B sides
Good show!
Spot of tea?
yes! interview with eno!
Nice interview and guy, but not much music talk
oooh *swoon* he's so handsome
try morrissey if you can get a hold of him!

The best
John Doran vs Lemmy

Very reticent Bryan is...but very polite also.

Not nearly as good an interview as the later ones. Disappointed.
Check him out on Live with Jules Holland
KnoxTN Yankee *Jools
amen
Brayan, please go the BBC Board of Directors, audience wants to keep your image as you were...
what a dude
Ok interview.
Anybody else think that Ferry is like an older Alex Turner?
No.
very good !
You should interview Tom Cruise and slowly take away the mask..
Kind of...etc.
Малежик же )))))))))))
He looks and sounds like a bank manager
“Did you meet Andy Warhol?” This kind of ignorance sinks these interviews.
shut up
He interviewed Liam Gallagher. apparently a 'master' yes you heard that right, a 'master'
Who?
he wants clapped-on a T-Rex record he doesn't know?
Poor interviewer, very poor.

What's your objection? Whatever it is, I assure you that you wouldn't speak like that to my face.
What a truly bizarre and tenuous comment.
