The last part when the traitor is found, it’s funny when you are the Ogryn. I mean, could you imagine if the Ogryn was plotting against the Inquisition?
They didn't give him enough rations.
Big hat man sed I wuz bad. So I's squeezed him inta a ball.
I was sadz when big man with gun said I was bad. Then I was good again when bad man was found. Good times!
No cousin of Gav would intentionally or willingly go traitor. They just trust the wrong little ‘uns sometimes
Box of grenades go BONK
I really hope Khornates, Tzeentchians and Slaaneshis get their chance to shine in the DLC of Dark Tide or a sequel.
Same
FOR KHORN
Maybe as unique enemies like a Khornate Berzerker or a Noise Marine,
You think a guardsmen would survive any of those
I believe that Darktide might be doing seasonal content - with seasonal updates adding the other Chaos gods to the mix
I’m a sucker for the trope of “Ragtag band of Misfits” and this game fits the bill so well. With the Imperium’s Penal Units lore and the use of the Rejects as expendable but necessary manpower, the game makes us feel enough to be heroes in some manner.
@major_kill Does anyone ever fell for that?
@@SepuLtera-b3x Probably otherwise they would stop doing it.
I agrée completely, well said 😊
Morrow is not the captain of the ship, he's the commander of the inquisitor's forces. The lady from the intro cinematic is the captain of the ship. Her name is Shipmistress Emora Brahms. Nobody actually knows who Grendyl is.
exactly
Nobody knows who Grendyl is except literally fucking everybody else in the game including your player characters. I think they just fucked up and forgot to let the player know and just assumed they'd know.
@@jffry890 ..... 🤨
The Mourningstar's shipmistress is Brahms, who's likely a Rogue trader in service to Inquisitor Grendyl ( Similar to how Tobias Maxila ( and his void ship) was often utilized by Eisenhorn in the Dan Abnett books) , so I'm not sure if we can call it Grendyls per-say. Brahms is also the old woman in the launcher, sporting a similar look to the characters from that rogue trader trailer we got a while back.
Source: In-game dialogue , characters explicitly talk about Brahms, her duty and her possible rogue trader-ness.
DA probably proposed a similar structure to what he used in Eisenhorn at a greater scale. Lots of (eisenhorn/Darktide) parallels, like an ace Pilot ( Betancore / Masozi ) , Astropath or Sanctioned Psyker ( Various/ Sefoni, the psychanarium chick) , interrogators ( Ravenor etc/ Rannick) , Law enforcement recruited locally ( Fischig in book1/ Zola ) and various others, probably a standard template for inquisitorial retinue.
The scale here is noteworthy, but I guess they're overall trying to say that Grendyl sent bands of faithful convicts from a nearby prison ship on suicide missions to deal with the corruption in the hive cities, some of whom rose in accomplishment and rank (and were inducted formally into the retinue) and some that were executed as traitors. He puts rannick in charge of overseeing these bands ( There are guards stationed everywhere in player areas in case we turn rogue on-ship, and those guards turn friendly in dialogue as you get closer to lvl 30). This improvised plan makes sense given the opposition.
Excluding the part of hive city population that has fully succumbed to nurgle ( Now poxwalkers) with improvised weapons , there are corrupted local militia ( I assume) called the Dregs ( Dreg gunners, shotgunners) with basic firearms, corrupted work-force from the manufactorum ( Maulers, some of the Ogryns) with repurposed construction/welding equipment, a corrupted regiment of the elite Moebian Sixth called the Scabs ( Scab gunners, scab riflemen etc ) with serious firepower, and actual fucking daemons like the hounds, beasts of nurgle and so-forth. This is a planetary level event ( Dialogue states that there are other hive-cities that have gone dark, maybe DLC?, could be genestealer related but that's another story), so in the absence of a whole army of guard or the emperors angels, Grendyls making the best of the situation for now. And they can't just exterminatus the planet because of the manufactorums ( Similar to in the space marine game with the titan manufactorum).
So basically most of our missions are to prolong the fight for as long as possible . Keeping the water clean, eliminating further corrupting communications, killing High-value enemy targets, studying and sampling the infection strains to further cures/vaccines.
Source : I'm a virgin
Good breakdown, I just wanted to add that they want to keep the planet solely because of the production of Leman Russ tanks. Depending on who sends you on what mission they may or may not tell you this. The Mobian steel they’re made from is also better. There might be more reasons added later, but so far it’s very much “just keep things going so we can have more tanks”
Also Hadron mentions that the Russ tanks in the sector are taking casualties of 73.5% or something close to that figure. Just thought that was interesting.
That's a very reliable source
Purity confirmed. Purity seal issued. Keep it safe and stay pure, or the Emperor will reject you for your weakness and failure. 🤣
Thank you for your service! (-_-)7
Checks out
It just hit me that Demonhost's were Psykers, if you listen to their whispers they are desperately fighting off the demon
Zola is an Explicator, basically Inquisitor trainee rank 1. Morrow is a Sergeant Major. Rannick is an Interrogator, one rank below an actual Inquisitor.
If you plays as the veteran with a Psyker you get lines about the about having nightmares about a giant throne with skulls. It wasn't just the Psyker this time. The game is really hiting at one other chaos faction, haven't heard any other chaos faction mention. We might get it later down the line
If you have a fanatic in the party they will comment that they've seen it in dreams, that they view it as hell, and that they want to send the heretics there. You have to take the zealot voice pack that yells "Blood for the God Emperor, Skulls for the Golden Throne!"
I mean considering that the Zealot yell about blood and skulls for the "Golden Throne" and what you have said could mean Khorne has taken an interest in all the fighting and may want muscle nurgle out.
@@kardasdragon7933 imagine getting blue-balled by the zealot every time one of them screams “BLOOD FOR THE EMPORER and SKULLS FOR THE GOLDEN THRONE” even though your motto is “BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD, SKULL FOR THE SKULL THRONE”
I love Darktide because of how fun it is to bring the God Emperor's wrath down onto Heretics
Fun? It is your Emperor-given duty!
Ogryn not aloud to have fun while serving the Emperor?
@@sethkorkowski213 Fine, but remember your daily prayers before you go off slaughtering in the Emperor's name.
@@matthewdee6023 I always remember my prayers to the God Emperor. How do you think I am still alive.
Wish Platinum would make a Kharn-slaughters-everyone action game!
You really do make this lore digestible like no one else on yt does
try these dude www.youtube.com/@ArchRUclips www.youtube.com/@Luetin09
Yeah, it was between this video or an hour and a half long video. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure that other video is informative and interesting, but ain't nobody got time for that.
A Genestealer Cult mode for Darktide would be awesome. To fight the patriarch would be amazing.
Nurgle Genestealers are Canon
that could become a multi team raid, considering that even space marines having their issues defeating one of those.
1:17 And now Inquisition are banished to the Warp where they later end up at Commorragh with Leman Russ and Kaldor Draigo and thrown to the gladiatorial arena with nothing but sticks and loincloths.
Yea, the setting and background are amazing, but actual story and characters seems about right for 8 minutes 😂
I like the idea of the fight expanding into other species/factions getting involved.
The fight against the forces of Nurgle ends up with Tyranids showing up, which causes the Orks to invade because the fightin's had. Etc
Oh no it's campaign of Cold Shoulder sector all again
The shipmistress is Brahams, who is the rogue trader gilf in the opening cinematic. Grendyl is just using her ship and I think we've yet to see them.
I hope you do a lore video about the Vox from Wyrmwood which covers more lore about Darktide's story which explains how the corrupt started and were Ground Zero is suspected to be.
Man, cheers to FatShark for sponsoring so many RUclipsrs, really good image.
I just have to bring up the Mourningstar is literally a Firestorm class frigate but with it's lance replaced by 6 torpedo tubes (which is surprising since usually escorts only carry 2). That means this inquisitor is in command of literally just an escort vessel that though large is comparatively tiny compared to normal Imperium ships. I mean in BFG 1 the inquisitor in that game which I'm pretty sure was a lord inquisitor had a whole ass Retribution class battleship alongside that hyper-cringe inquisitor from BFG 2 and also got a Retribution battleship. So either this inquisitor is just a standard inquisitor or a lord inquisitor that's going really lowkey.
The various dialogues are most likely hints at new content.
References to a whole other Hive City on Tertium that had "gone dark" are made several times.
Likewise, Genestealers have a few mentions as does the Cicatrix Maledictum. A genestealer cult in the dark hive city would be really quite interesting.
The "barren wastes" mentioned a few times would be an interesting location for Ork related missions too, if Fatshark was feeling especially spicy.
IIRC, The new mission we got in latest patch was hinted as a location through dialogue where a character mentions the place as being locked up and Hadron replies that it isnt time to go there yet.
There are a few characters that openly wonder about visiting Terra too.
I do not recall Fatshark calling Vermintide a live service while they do call Darktide a live service. Its very probable they intend to keep adding new content and story as time goes on.
I'd say genestealer cult could be possible as in one of the announcments/broadcasts in mourningstar they speak of unidentified xeno precense sighted or something like that in the underhive and all auric class operatives were to report immediatly or that's pretty much the point of that one and yes has heard that one only once there. But that's quite a while ago so kinda have to try to remember it, but there's xenos of sorts in the world. And possibly if the sighting is true or the report of it then in the hive city's underhive. So ultimately we shall see if it be true or not
Unless they make a map where we could team up as a 64 men battalion, with Astra Militarium gear and mechanical support, there is no way in lore we could fight Orks.
Imagine 4 humans shooting Orks with lascannons and bullets, next thing we know 2 have been blow to tidibits by wide shootaz and the other two are getting hacked with sluggas.
Even on Space Marine game I felt they were taking the plot armor a little too far, with 1 space marine stopping a waaagh.
I mean, that's not how it works on DAWN OF WAR.....
Would be nice if they do some form of story campaign after the player reach lvl 30, like doing mission for the torturer investigating how beast of nurgle is summon, more traitors in the high ups, etc. Maybe more wide scale battlefield mission like, help unsiege a section, or rescue people.
Man uploads a video one minute into Christmas
@major_kill Get out of here, you scamming cuck
Dunno if it's been said, but there is an interesting quip about about atoma prime having another hive city that was abandoned, but shortly after one of the rejects brings it up someone Zola or another one of that retinue quickly tells them to shut up and not worry about it.
What is worth mentioning, is that on release, in one mission you had the talk about the Archivarium, and a mission in the Archivarium was added in the latest update. Now there are several talk themes inside missions that might play out later.
Part two of Erda.
Never gonna stop.
I wonder what it would be like for a crazy, trauma filled, balls to the wall brave maniac to be in the warp and demons trying to brake him,oh alright you cant brake some one who already is broken!
"Instead of padding this with nonsense" I respect that so much
Happy Holidays and Sanguinala to you all. Also one of the Psykers believes they're married to a shard of the Emperor.
Obligatory asking Majorkill for a Mini of the late Old Man because who wants his last model to be well his last?
I’ve noticed the Nurgel and death guard has been given a huge buff lately and the games
Sorry in the games
And the Lore. Lords of Silence has them beating the Black Consuls and taking their world!
@@christiandauz3742 when ever you want taunt a chaos marine, you smell so bad, you make the death guard stink less
I waited till I got my first character (the German sounding psyker) to lvl 30 to watch this. Since I've been leveling up multiple characters, I'm glad you could put everything into perspective in a shorter video
Hell of a story, 40 bucks and they give you a cinematic every 5 levels up to level 30
Just wait until you find out every cinematic is someone else saying "I should've put a bullet in you day 1, now get back to work." I think there was even one where the pilot orders you to meet them and all he essentially says is "I wish I killed you. Now fuck off."
All those cinematics are the same bs "Prove yourself" line regurgitated over and over.
@@taigaaisaka6305 Its honestly insulting.
I hope we get to see Genestealer Cultists in future content for Darktide. Imagine getting to fight through Nurgle Cultists and Genestealer Cultists, not to mention all the Daemons and Specialised Bioforms.
Haven't GW already done that with space hulk deathwing
Plagued Genestealer Cults. It is Canon for Genestealer Cults to fall for Nurgle
It's on my wishlist mate, but I'm going to need a replacement for my laptoaster first ;-)
I really wish there was a Warhammer 40 K game where you can play as all the legions that are available it would be so awesome if I could play as like the bloody Angels or world leaders, it would be very awesome. We’re like you could play as each of them, and they each one would have their own story.
this is my first Warhammer game after hundreds of hours of listening to Warhammer lore and I love it
Still in absolute awe that they thought going from 4 super colorful characters with tons of flavorful dialogue in Vermintide to 4 John Does who say nothing but help me and thank you
Also incredibly sad that this video tried to spin that as a positive lmao
is that what those random cutscenes were about? I was too busy checking the shop and hoping for something slightly better than what i had.
Same here man.
The fact the character you used is the exact same character design as Zola is a madlad move.
so there are 2 conversations that happen that make me think the next expansion is gene stealer cults.... 1 - there is a scene where a character asks the tanker dude in the duster - cant remember his name - about rumors of another hive city on this world. he responds with basically "you aren't cleared for THAT information yet". 2 - a back and forth with another character in the party asks about this same guy - about how how he was the last survivor of a massive battle with tyranids (i cant remember if it was nids or cults - but i got the impression that cults were involved by the transaction)
I know this is nitpicking but how in a million worlds does the inquisition even *consider* my Ogryn to be a traitor capable of writing heretical words on the wall and relaying information from the mourning star when he can’t even say “Eliminated” or “Nullified”
Hey Majorkill. Would you please make some lore videos on the Imperial Truth, the Imperial Creed, The Ecclesiarchy, and the High Lords of Terra? Thank you.
Fun fact about the traitor: her names Mara Vinci and she’s a vendor in game and she gets turned into a servator I made a video about it recently and how to see her when she gets transformed
while playing this I noticed the traitor is seen in a couple of cut scenes and runs on of the shops,
once I got lvl 30 with all the characters, the traitor is still running the shop, but as a servitor
I wish they added chaos space marines, actual imperial guards you can fight with and more intense like evacuation missions.
Oh boy the evacuation stage Is intense If you play on damnation or heresy difficulty. Too bad I can never find anyone playing on those difficulties :/
I dont understand why is all missing. Was expecting alot of everything you said.
I was playing a match the other day with a psyker who during a mission, mentioned "My beloved says there is a [monolith/artefact (I can't recall)] causing the Mobian guard to turn traitorous.
Fatshark sponsoring every WH40k youtuber is so hilarious at this point. It's like they are begging to play their game.
I was watching this video and then my neighbour came and we watched it together. He said that this video changed his life and touched his heart. Then I went and rented a projector in a big field and my entire town watched it and it changed their lives too. We all are so grateful.
Thank You for this video….
Cool story
Playing as an Ogryn is great, because the shop gear with a mustache has me looking like the Village People and cracks a lot of jokes. Them leopard skin pants are absolute drip 👌
From what I read of the story, the Moebian 6th regiment 'lasmen' imperial guard was supposed to suppress the uprising, but they ended up turning traitor since most of these are vets that formally fought in the 'Fringe Wars' where Xenos and Heretics lurk. They suffered from some type of PTSD or mental trauma from the "Darktide". There is so much lore and story, it's just a shame it's not showcased further, there was definitely some care put into the lore and background and the game cut scenes doesn't do it justice. 😭
You did a good job narrating all the cutscenes I already saw. Not that there is any real lore beyond that so I don't blame you.
Game is amazing but story is beyond forgetable. The best part is the traitor is the store merchant (cosmetics) throughout the game. After the ending she is killed but also put into service for her crime. You can go to the merchant, and she is now a servitor. Truly awsome detail.
Here's the plot of Darktide
Prologue- "You're a prisoner, but you saved me from that prison break, you're on the team!"
Act 1- "We don't trust you yet reject, go out there and kill some heretics"
Act 2- "Alright Reject, we still don't trust you, keep killing Heretics"
Act 3- "Theres a traitor on the ship or something, go kill some heretics so we know its not you"
Finale- "This no name NPC was the traitor, good job killing Heretics we almost trust you, now go kill some more"
Feels like they took a bunch of introductory cutscenes for NPC's and strung them out to try and make a story with material they had already.
I mean you ain't wrong. Gameplay is great but the story is pretty sub par. Oh don't forget they tell you to 'Step up your game.' And then you leave without saying a word everytime haha.
In fairness the most appealing thing about 40K is there is no ending... and technically no victors. It's unending War.
Honestly think the reason they went with custom characters over pre-written ones like in Vermintide is to stay in line with the grimdark tone of 40k
Something too similar to the Ubersreik 5, a group of misfits learning to overcome their differences and surviving against all odds (and in the case of a certain two, forming a budding romance), would've been too hopeful whereas a group of easily replaceable and indistinguishable rejects falls more in line with 40k
I’m so excited for the future of this game. There’s so many possibilities of things we could get and see. Ogryn Charonites, commissar’s and a sister of battle as classes or sub classes, all manner of weapons for more or less all the characters. And still many more enemies that we haven’t seen yet, like plague bearers and rot-flies. As well as new stuff they can do with the missions, such as because it’s nurgle they could make one where your health slowly drains.
Also due to the presence of daemon-hosts and beast(s) of nurgle, there has to be some direct warp shenanigans going on, so it would be cool to see us have to deal with that at some point, close a portal or something.
I know it’s not really lore friendly, but I’d love to see a fight with a plague marine. I get that “realistically” they would crush us, but it would be cool if we get to fight one in a mission after a skirmish between a squad of loyalists marines and plague marines and we just get to fight the wounded one to make it a little more believable.
Also for the love of the god-emperor can we get more options for the character creator. “Normal” hair styles and faces would be great.
Merry Christmas all!
I gotta say im (surprisingly) not sponsored and i can wholeheartedly agree with mks assessment of the game. I think its a solid 8,5 and neither reddit nor the steam reviews do the game justice.
I do agree premiumshop practices are not nice, but its not like they invented it and theyre going as far as to incorporate users wishes.
I'm sure in the future, the max level will get higher, more missions will be added, along with more story, weapons and abilities. DLC might even include new enemies or a new class
We need someone to do a more recent deep dive on player interaction lines as well as that of some of the lines given by the other characters so we can have a timeline for tertium's plight and other further lore revelations as they have added numerous lines with the recent update.
I like the fact that after you reach level 30 and you get the final story cinematic, the traitor then appears as a servitor. Nice, little touch that.🙂
I don't think Morrow is the ship's captain. That would be Shipmistress Brams, the lady from the World Intro Trailer that looks like Mom from Futurama
@Majorkill a few mistakes were made: sgt major Morrow is one of the highier ups in the warband of Inquisitor Grendyl, the ship "Mourningstar" is the property of a rogue trader named Shipmistress Brahms. Great vid regardless man keep at it!
Tbh there was room to have a story, sure expanding the story within the missions would be pretty hard but not impossible they could have put a selection besides "quick game" named like "main story" that made you play the story missions with other players who where at that stage and the pop up missions would be as their name suggest pop up missions that are different, meaning in what is happening and where, perhaps the main story missions would have the one of each type of missions, perhaps they could even put that you need to have certain level of trust to play the main missions so between main missions you are forced to play the pop up missions so you could get to the level of trust needed, you could start doing your first main missions as your first missions after the tutorial/prologue, perhaps one that needs you to clear a space so another teams arrives and as main missions happen you know more about what's happening in the Hive city and about the group that entered the ship in the prologue, perhaps the last mission could be you killing in a boss fight the dude that escape in the prologue but you need to be trust level 30 to do it or something like that, they could also have done that in your character there is a like a corruption meter and when you do missions the corruption meter gets lower and after x number of missions you see how doing your missions have affected the hive city so the more you lower the corruption the "better" it gets for the hive city. I could go on and on and on and on in how they could have done a different story, but as someone said it doesn't look like the writer actually wrote something, but that fatshark stole a napkin from the writer with just some keypoint for the story, specially considering the lack of story and the big no nos the little story we have, like for example the concept i like to call the Buford canoe (its a reference of a movie of Phineas of Ferb where they use the concept that has another name where Buford carried the canoe everyone and it wasn't until the last arc that carrying it around paid off), if you are going to show/establish something in the story at the beginning you need to pay it off later, so by showing us a heretic that was so important he was save you basically stablished he is important but never showing what happened with him is horrible writing skills, specially something so major for the story.
Now putting story behind i would love that after getting to level 30 they expand what you can do saying something "Well you have gained enough trust to the point we don't need to micro manage you" (making the first 30 levels of trust the true prologue of the game) so now you are able to do work just not for the group that is working in Brahm´s ship but work have your little ship that makes you possible to travel to other Rouge traders ships under Grendyl that are dealing with other foe in the system so that way you can travel among worlds fighting other chaos god followers, other xenos and traitors, you could decide to stay in your ship and do solo missions on with your squad or go to a Rogue trader´s ship and be among other players and have the markets and stuff (similar to how warframe, but not exactly because you would want to spent more time in the Rouge trader´s ship) and even perhaps they could make that your other characters are in your ship doing other stuff in the background and even if you dont visit that often your ship when you do your characters say something about it (like the ogryn saying "big man sad because little man has gone too long" or something like that) but in the voices that you have selected for them. End of my rant lol
Typed Darktide story and got several vids for like 40 mins and then I found 8 min. Instant winner
Hate that each character didn’t have different cutscenes. Only issue I’ve had with the game everything else is mint. Well will be once more things are added, for me the game runs perfectly high frames and such.
Merry Christmas man, have a good one
The prologue cutscene and the tutorial stage have more plot and lore than the rest of the game combined lol
I'm hoping for xenos chaos factions, they exist and would be a great asset and selling point.
I would like new DLCs to take us to other hives with other classes and enemies.
Would love a Warhammer quest style game, first person style.
Consider this: for every player character created the is a traitor. I hope Rannick doesn't run out of bullets.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everybody!
Custodes vs those strong ass harley quinn's
Having a team of all psykers with only one zealot has some really awesome dialogue
Great vid as always, Antipodean.
Thanks for this Majorkill. I enjoyed it
I have a feeling fat shark will end up creating an entire chaos incursion with this game.
A video on olanius and John gramaticus would be cool
The traitor ends up becoming a servitor in the commisary, you can see her before and after level 30
A fate truly worse than death
Happy holidays Major kill best 40K lore videos by far and no balls won’t make a space bug of death for your next mini
A video on ships of the various races would be nice.
If fatshark sponsored this video, wouldn’t you be able to ask them things like “is Brahms the ship mistress, or is it the sgt-major who claims to be in charge of the inquisition warband’s fighting forces?”
Damn didn't know darktide was an inception plot, man's character is literally the Explicator Zola
Inquisitorial Team are in Space Brazil for an enthusiastic walk.
Morrow is a Sergeant Major... he's in charge of the grunts (players). The captain of the ship is the old rogue trader lady with the fancy white hair.
The story fits the scope I think. The inquisitor is taking in all the prisoners as soldiers I think it's small but fitting that a "traitor in the ranks" is the main story. Major do you think that there's some sort of tear and or priest feeding some aspects of the demons that have made it through?
Yo i think the lady at the end of the trailer is the ship mistress. I heard in a voice line in game something like " i heard our ship mistress and inquistor grendal have been arguing"
Possibilities are endless through this game.
Just imagine running around as a Tau in your stealth suit or how about some Eldar trooper. ( i know im a heretic)
Also the different chaos gods troops could be so nice to slaughter every now and then thus adding some more variety and flavor to the same old pox walker smashing.
Merry Christmas Major Kill!!!!
Please make a video on 40k air vehicles
just fiy to people who havent played the game, the ""story""" has nothing to do with moving up in the hive, the first ever mission you play may be in the better parts of the hive, especially since they are random, there is no order to the missions and you cannot even pick the missions you want if the RNG map picker didnt create one
I thought we didn't know exactly who Grendel was, and that the ship just belonged to a rogue trader? The lady we see is just the ship mistress. We will likely never even see Grendel in the flesh or learn much about them.
I wanna explore thr Holy terra with this game in the future.
I love the game and the power progression. As a veteran sharpshooter we can get a power sword and a bolter which are insanely powerful weapons that a normal person should ever get their hands on, but because we are agents of the inquisition (and its a game lol) we do.
Got drunk asf after the update and on your new merch drop. Finna be strolling around town in your bath robe.
Last lore video before christmas my arse 🤣🤣
Holy shit!!! We went over 420!!!! Time to pay up Majorkill!!!!
Will the crew turn to Chaos? I've heard during gameplay zealots yelling "Blood for the god emperor, skulls for the Golden Throne."
My charater is always going on about how things have changed in the places she goes... I was hoping to get that lore. I wonder what things are supposed to look like
GW: You sponsored WHO?
Fatshark: uuuhhhhh.....
Dawg this game does not have a story. This is the nicest approach I've seen for this game.
Would've been cool if one of the missions (maybe as a last mission), we get to go back to the prison ship from the intro, now overtaken by the heretics and we have to disable it before they ram it into the morning star or something.
